As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 658 students and 45.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 14.5:1. There were 473 students (71.9% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 33 (5.0% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.The West Side campus has hosted two separate high school programs that operate independently but have shared a facility and athletic programs: Newark Early College High School, which prepares students in grades 7–12 to complete up to 60 college-level credits during their high school career Newark Vocational High School prepares students in grades 9-12 for college and career options.

Newark Early College High School is a six-year comprehensive community public high school in Newark, in Essex County, New Jersey, United States, serving students in ninth through twelfth grades, and operating as part of the Newark Public Schools. Together with Newark Vocational High School, the school is one of two high schools operated on the West Side Campus. As of the 2015-16 school year, the school had an enrollment of 469 students and 41.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.4:1. There were 302 students (64.4% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 13 (2.8% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Fairmount is a neighborhood in the city of Newark in Essex County, New Jersey, United States. It is part of the West Ward. Its population is mostly African American . Central Avenue is the major street, though its commerce is considerably reduced from the Industrial Era heyday. The neighborhood is bounded by South Orange Avenue on the south, the Garden State Parkway on the west, Interstate 280 on the north, West Market Street on the north-east, and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey on the east.

Holy Sepulchre Cemetery is located in East Orange and Newark, New Jersey. The Garden State Parkway runs through the two halves of the cemetery (exit 144 and exit 145, respectively). The cemetery was established in 1859 and is maintained by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark.In the 1950s, the newly constructed Garden State Parkway cut directly through the cemetery. Hundreds of graves had to be moved prior to construction. Both sides of the cemetery are visible to drivers on the Parkway today.

Grove Street was a NJ Transit station in East Orange, Essex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, along the Morris & Essex Lines. The station was first built in 1901 by the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad (DL&W), and opened to the public in 1903. A second story was added to the eastbound station house after the DL&W elevated the tracks through East Orange in 1922. NJ Transit discontinued rail service to Grove Street on April 7, 1991. The entire station was demolished in 1995.
