Coombe, Enford

Fittleton cum Haxton is a civil parish in Wiltshire, England, 12 miles (19 km) north of Salisbury. The parish contains the adjacent settlements of Fittleton and Haxton, which lie on the east bank of the River Avon opposite the village and parish of Netheravon.

The A345 is a secondary A road in Wiltshire, England running from Salisbury to Marlborough and the A4. The road is a main south–north link across Salisbury Plain, which is renowned for its rich archaeology, and passes many ancient points of interest along its way.

Netheravon is a village and civil parish on the River Avon and A345 road, about 4 miles (6.4 km) north of the town of Amesbury in Wiltshire, South West England. It is within Salisbury Plain. The village is on the right (west) bank of the Avon, opposite Fittleton. The parish extends west onto Netheravon Down.

The Church of All Saints is the Church of England parish church for the village of Netheravon, Wiltshire, England. A church has stood on this site near the River Avon since Saxon times. It has been designated a Grade I listed building.

Enford is a village and civil parish in Wiltshire, England, in the northeast of Salisbury Plain. The village lies 10 miles (16 km) southeast of Devizes and 14 miles (23 km) north of Salisbury. The parish includes nine small settlements along both banks of the headwaters of the River Avon. Besides Enford, these are Compton, Coombe, East Chisenbury, Fifield, Littlecott, Longstreet, New Town and West Chisenbury. The name is derived from the Old English Enedford meaning 'duck ford'.

Chisenbury Priory is a Grade II* listed house in East Chisenbury, Wiltshire, England. It dates from the later seventeenth century with a mid eighteenth century front that bears the date 1767 and the initials of Williams Grove. It includes a Justice Room in which courts were held as late as 1922. The building is on or near the site of a cell founded in 1112 by the Abbey of Bec-Hellouin, France, but of which no evidence now remains.

Netheravon Airfield is a Ministry of Defence grass strip airfield on Salisbury Plain, in Wiltshire, England. Established in 1913 by the Royal Flying Corps, it became RAF Netheravon from 1918 until 1963, then AAC Netheravon (Army Air Corps) until 2012. Buildings from 1913 and 1914 survive on part of the site. The site forms part of the Tidworth, Netheravon and Bulford (TidNBul) Garrison.

Figheldean is a village and civil parish on the River Avon, 3+1⁄2 miles (6 km) north of Amesbury in Wiltshire, England. Figheldean parish extends 3 miles (4.8 km) east of the village towards Tidworth as far as Devil's Ditch and 3 miles (4.8 km) westwards beyond Larkhill towards Shrewton as far as Robin Hood's Ball. The parish includes the hamlets of Ablington and Alton. Approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) to the north is Netheravon and 1.5 miles (2.4 km) to the south is Durrington. The A345 main road between Salisbury and Marlborough passes through the parish to the west of the village. Figheldean is situated on Salisbury Plain, which supports many nationally rare species and is the largest area of unimproved chalk grassland in northern Europe.

Chisenbury Camp is the site of an Iron Age univallate hillfort in Broad Chalke parish in Wiltshire, England. The site comprises a small circular 5-acre enclosure that was levelled in 1931. The site was partially excavated in the 19th century and there were finds of ceramics, worked stone, worked animal bone and remains of human burial; some are held by the Wiltshire Museum at Devizes. It is a scheduled monument.The site currently lies within the bounds of a small grass strip airfield, the former RAF Upavon, and is run through by the perimeter access road on the southern side of the field.

Ablington is a small village in the English county of Wiltshire, on the River Avon, close to the village of Figheldean and about 3.5 miles (5.6 km) north of the town of Amesbury. Barrow Clump, a prehistoric site re-used as a burial ground for an Anglo-Saxon village, is some 700 metres east of Ablington.The settlement was recorded as Alboldintone in the Domesday Book. Ablington farmhouse is an 18th-century thatched building, extended in c. 1880 and at later dates.For local government purposes, Ablington is part of Figheldean civil parish.

Barrow Clump is an archaeological site in Figheldean parish, Wiltshire, England, about 3+1⁄2 miles (5.6 km) north of the town of Amesbury. The site is a scheduled monument.

Royal Air Force Upavon, or more simply RAF Upavon, is a former Royal Air Force station in Wiltshire, England. It was a grass airfield, military flight training school, and administrative headquarters of the Royal Air Force. The station opened in 1912 and closed in 1993, when it was transferred to the British Army and became known as Trenchard Lines. The station motto was In Principio Et Semper, and translated from Latin means "In the Beginning and Always".
