Warslow

Butterton railway station was a station on the Leek and Manifold Light Railway. It served the village of Butterton in Staffordshire. The site is now part of the Manifold Way including the impressive Swainsley Tunnel.

Swainsley Tunnel is a tunnel on the route of the former Leek and Manifold Light Railway, which connected the market town of Leek with Hulme End, via Waterhouses, in Staffordshire, England. The tunnel is located between Ecton and Butterton. It was closed in 1939, along with the rest of the line from Waterhouses to Hulme End. Today, it is used as a shared bicycle, automobile and pedestrian tunnel. Due to its narrow width, there are enforced regulations on car users and there is a weight limit of three tons. The tunnel is located in a very deep cutting, running under a minor road. The site of Butterton station was located at the north end of the tunnel, near the modern day Swainsley Farm; this is quite a distance from the village it was built to serve.

Ecton railway station was a station on the Leek and Manifold Light Railway. It served the hamlet of Ecton, Staffordshire. Today, the site is now part of the Manifold Way between Hulme End and Waterhouses.

Ecton is a hamlet in the Staffordshire Peak District (grid reference SK096584). It is on the Manifold Way, an 8-mile (13 km) walk and cycle path that follows the line of the former Leek and Manifold Valley Light Railway. Population details as at the 2011 census can be found under Ilam.

A group of mines on Ecton Hill, Staffordshire, are unusual for the Peak District in producing predominantly copper rather than lead and zinc. The most important, Deep Ecton mine, has been mined since the Bronze Age, and in the 18th century was a major producer of copper, and the deepest mine in Britain. Mining below river level ceased in the 1850s, and all production stopped in the 1890s. The mine is now a significant educational resource, managed by the Ecton Mine Educational Trust, and with teaching provided by the Ecton Hill Field Studies Association.

Warslow and Elkstones is a civil parish in the district of Staffordshire Moorlands in north-east Staffordshire, England. It includes the village of Warslow and the hamlets of Lower Elkstone and Uppoer Elkstone. There is a boundary with Wetton in the east at the River Manifold. To the south is Butterton; the River Hamps forms the western boundary with Onecote.

Hulme End railway station is a disused railway station in Staffordshire, England. The station was the terminus of the 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) Leek and Manifold Valley Light Railway which ran 8+1⁄4 miles (13.3 km) from Waterhouses where it made a connection with the standard gauge Waterhouses branch line of the North Staffordshire Railway.Opened in 1904, the station had a single platform and a small goods yard with two sidings laid out for the use of transporter wagons, with a section of standard gauge track at the end of each siding. The station was also the servicing and storage point for the line's locomotives and coaching stock with both a locomotive shed and a carriage shed being provided.The line became part of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway in 1923 but the finances of the line were poor and the line closed in 1934. After closure, the route's right of way was acquired by Staffordshire County Council and the station site at Hulme End became a car park. The station building was retained and, now restored, is used as a visitor information centre.It was sometimes referred to as Hulme End for Hartington. Although nearly two miles from Hartington. The village also had a station on the Ashbourne Line between Ashbourne and Buxton. This allowed passengers to transfer between Hartington for Buxton, Leek and Ashbourne.

Wetton Mill railway station was a minor station on the Leek and Manifold Light Railway serving the nearby Wetton Mill in Wetton, Staffordshire. The site is now part of the Manifold Way and runs past the mill today which is now a private and commercial residence.

Butterton is a small village in the Staffordshire Peak District of England (grid reference SK075565). It overlooks the Manifold Valley and Ecton Hill, which rises 1,212 feet above sea level. Butterton lies 5 miles east of Leek and roughly 8 miles from Alton Towers theme park. The village is just west of the limestone area, and so is mainly built of local sandstone. It contains a Grade II listed church. In the centre of Butterton there is an unusual ford where the Hoo Brook runs along the village street.Butterton was served by a railway station which was opened by the Leek and Manifold Valley Light Railway on 27 June 1904. The line closed in 1934, and the route of the railway past the station is now designated the Manifold Way, a footpath and cycle route. Butterton is one of the Thankful Villages that suffered no fatalities in the Great War of 1914–1918.

Hulme End () is a small hamlet in Staffordshire, England, in the Peak District National Park 10 miles north of Ashbourne, Derbyshire. A natural gateway to the Manifold Valley, the river crosses the road from Hartington (the nearest village) to Warslow.

Elkstones is a small hamlet in the parish of Warslow and Elkstones, consisting of Upper Elkstone and Lower Elkstone. Situated high in the Staffordshire Moorlands, Leek is the closest town. Elkstones falls in the catchment area of Manifold Primary School, Churnet View Middle School and Leek High School.
