Ecton Mines

Ecton is a hamlet in the Staffordshire Peak District (grid reference SK096584). It is on the Manifold Way, an 8-mile (13 km) walk and cycle path that follows the line of the former Leek and Manifold Valley Light Railway. Population details as at the 2011 census can be found under Ilam.

Ecton railway station was a station on the Leek and Manifold Light Railway. It served the hamlet of Ecton, Staffordshire. Today, the site is now part of the Manifold Way between Hulme End and Waterhouses.

Butterton railway station was a station on the Leek and Manifold Light Railway. It served the village of Butterton in Staffordshire. The site is now part of the Manifold Way including the impressive Swainsley Tunnel.

Swainsley Tunnel is a tunnel on the route of the former Leek and Manifold Light Railway, which connected the market town of Leek with Hulme End, via Waterhouses, in Staffordshire, England. The tunnel is located between Ecton and Butterton. It was closed in 1939, along with the rest of the line from Waterhouses to Hulme End. Today, it is used as a shared bicycle, automobile and pedestrian tunnel. Due to its narrow width, there are enforced regulations on car users and there is a weight limit of three tons. The tunnel is located in a very deep cutting, running under a minor road. The site of Butterton station was located at the north end of the tunnel, near the modern day Swainsley Farm; this is quite a distance from the village it was built to serve.

Hulme End railway station is a disused railway station in Staffordshire, England. The station was the terminus of the 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) Leek and Manifold Valley Light Railway which ran 8+1⁄4 miles (13.3 km) from Waterhouses where it made a connection with the standard gauge Waterhouses branch line of the North Staffordshire Railway.Opened in 1904, the station had a single platform and a small goods yard with two sidings laid out for the use of transporter wagons, with a section of standard gauge track at the end of each siding. The station was also the servicing and storage point for the line's locomotives and coaching stock with both a locomotive shed and a carriage shed being provided.The line became part of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway in 1923 but the finances of the line were poor and the line closed in 1934. After closure, the route's right of way was acquired by Staffordshire County Council and the station site at Hulme End became a car park. The station building was retained and, now restored, is used as a visitor information centre.It was sometimes referred to as Hulme End for Hartington. Although nearly two miles from Hartington. The village also had a station on the Ashbourne Line between Ashbourne and Buxton. This allowed passengers to transfer between Hartington for Buxton, Leek and Ashbourne.

Warslow is a small village in Staffordshire, England. It is located in the Peak District National Park about 10 miles (16 km) north of Ashbourne. Although in the county of Staffordshire, the village lies close to the Derbyshire border, and has a Stockport postal code (SK), but the address is Warslow, Buxton, Derbyshire. Warslow has a public house, The Greyhound Inn circa 1750s 6 ensuite rooms for guests, Fresh food, music and cask Ales. Dogs welcome. 2023 Wilsons of Warslow brewing company was established at the rear of The Greyhound Inn. A small microbrewery supplies beer to the pub and other outlets locally and national.

Wetton Mill railway station was a minor station on the Leek and Manifold Light Railway serving the nearby Wetton Mill in Wetton, Staffordshire. The site is now part of the Manifold Way and runs past the mill today which is now a private and commercial residence.

Redhurst Crossing railway station was a minor station on the Leek and Manifold Light Railway, located between Wetton Mill railway station, Staffordshire and Thor's Cave railway station. Not much is documented about the halt, and the line which ran through it is now the Manifold Way.

Thor's Cave railway station was a station on the Leek and Manifold Light Railway. Serving the landmark Thor's Cave in Grindon and Wetton. The station site is now part of the Manifold Way.

Thor's Cave (also known as Thor's House Cavern and Thyrsis's Cave) is a natural cavern located at SK09865496 in the Manifold Valley of the White Peak in Staffordshire, England. It is classified as a karst cave. Located in a steep limestone crag, the cave entrance, a symmetrical arch 7.5 metres wide and 10 metres high, is prominently visible from the valley bottom, around 80 metres (260 feet) below. Reached by an easy stepped path from the Manifold Way, the cave is a popular tourist spot, with views over the Manifold Valley. The second entrance is known as the "West Window", below which is a second cave, Thor's Fissure Cavern.Thor's Cave was served by a railway station on the Leek and Manifold Valley Light Railway from 1904 to 1934; the disused line now forms the Manifold Way.

Wetton is a village in the Peak District National Park, North Staffordshire, at the top of the east side of the Manifold Valley. The population recorded in the 2001 Census was 157. At the time of the 2011 Census the population was recorded under Ilam.
