Bishopbriggs Academy

Cadder Yard is the railway yard situated between Bishopbriggs and Lenzie on the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway (E&G). Cadder is a district of the town of Bishopbriggs. It was a hump shunting yard built by the North British Railway (NBR) in October 1901 as part of the Sighthill Goods Yard and High Street Goods Yard modernisation scheme. In the early days the majority of the railway workings were on the north side of the E&G, i.e., the up-yard. The hump was located to the North-West. With the modern changes of emphasis in British Rail freight almost all of the rail workings on the north side and signal boxes were removed in the 1970s and 1980s. The passing loops on either side of the main line have been retained and are used on a daily basis. The north side, beyond the up-loop, is a large Green Link tree-planting project. On the south side, beyond the down-loops, are maintenance sidings. Direct Rail Services (DRS) leased the site from July 2006 - May 2011 where it was used as a wagon maintenance and storage location. Subsequently, DRS opted to move these operations to Motherwell TMD. This move might have been due to the lack of covered facilities, or to the EGIP construction plans. In 2016, Cadder Down Yard was the site of EGIP electrification construction depot. At the time, this was, "subject to satisfactory negotiations with the current rail industry tenant to relocate their rail activities to another location in the West of Scotland." As of late 2021, this £33 million infrastructure development is now operational.Westerhill, at the far west end of Cadder Yard is the proposed site for a railway park and ride service in Bishopbriggs in a campaign by local councillors.

Auchinairn (Scottish Gaelic: Achadh an Fheàrna) is a suburb (formerly a village) within East Dunbartonshire, Scotland, and shares its southern boundary with the Robroyston and Balornock districts within the City of Glasgow.

Balornock (, Scottish Gaelic: Both Lobharnaig) is a district in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. Situated outside the city centre, north of the River Clyde, it forms part of the larger area of Springburn. Balornock shared the Red Road complex of multi-storey flats with the neighbouring district of Barmulloch; the 21 Birnie Court building (single yellow block) was in Barmulloch. The buildings were formally condemned in July 2008 after a long period of decline, with their phased demolition taking place in three stages between 2010 and 2015. Local amenities include Stobhill Hospital, The Morven. In 2006 the area was the setting of the award-winning film Red Road by Andrea Arnold.

HMP Low Moss is located on the outskirts of Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire; near Glasgow, Scotland. It has been operated by the Scottish Prison Service as a prison since 1968 and was for low-category prisoners who had sentences of less than 36 months to serve. The original establishment was closed in May 2007, with the entire site being cleared and redeveloped with a considerably enlarged footprint. The new prison was reopened in March 2012, and accepted its first intake in almost five years. Scott Watson is the Establishment's acting Governor.

Cadder (Scottish Gaelic: Coille Dobhair) is a district of the town of Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire, Scotland. It is located 7 km north of Glasgow city centre, 0.5 km south of the River Kelvin, and approximately 1.5 km north-east of Bishopbriggs town centre, sited on the route of the Forth and Clyde Canal. There is a Glasgow council housing scheme of a similar name, generally pronounced Cawder, in the district of Lambhill some 3 miles (5 km) to the south-west along the Canal, which was built in the early 1950s. Similarly, within Cadder, there is Cawder Golf Club, which also uses that original pronunciation.

All Saints Roman Catholic Secondary School is a comprehensive, co-educational, Roman Catholic state school situated in Barmulloch the north-east of Glasgow, Scotland. Established in 1972, the school was rebuilt into a newer, more modern version in 2002, with better facilities but fewer classrooms. The headteacher is Brian McDermott.

Bishopbriggs (Scots: The Briggs; Scottish Gaelic: Achadh an Easbaig) is a town in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland. It lies on the northern fringe of Greater Glasgow, approximately 4 miles (6 km) from the city centre. Historically in Lanarkshire, the area was once part of the historic parish of Cadder - originally lands granted by King William the Lion to the Bishop of Glasgow, Jocelin, in 1180. It was later part of the county of Lanarkshire, and then an independent burgh from 1964 to 1975. Today, Bishopbriggs' close geographic proximity to Glasgow now effectively makes it a suburb and commuter town of the city. The town's original Gaelic name Coille Dobhair reflects the name of the old parish of Cadder, but modern Gaelic usage uses Drochaid an Easbaig, a literal translation of Bishopbriggs. It was ranked the 2nd most desirable postcode in Scotland to live in following a study by the Centre for Economic and Business Research in 2015 and 2016.Bishopbriggs grew from a small rural village on the old road from Glasgow to Kirkintilloch and Stirling during the 19th century, eventually growing to incorporate the adjacent villages of Auchinairn, Cadder, Jellyhill and Mavis Valley. It has a population of approximately 23,500 people.

Bishopbriggs railway station is a railway station serving Bishopbriggs in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland. It is located on the Glasgow to Edinburgh via Falkirk Line, 3+1⁄4 miles (5.2 km) north of Glasgow Queen Street, but is currently only served by services on the Croy Line.

Glasgow North East is a burgh constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (at Westminster). It was first contested at the 2005 general election. The current Member of Parliament (MP) is Anne McLaughlin of the SNP who won the seat back from Labour's Paul Sweeney at the 2019 general election.

Stobhill Hospital is an Ambulatory Care and Diagnostic Hospital, located in Springburn in the north of Glasgow, Scotland. It serves the population of North Glasgow and part of East Dunbartonshire. It is managed by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Wallace's Well or Auchinleck Well is a historic well which in present times is a monument and tourist attraction, located on Langmuirhead Road near Robroyston (NS 6382 6960) in the Glasgow City council area, Scotland (sited almost exactly on the local authority boundary with North Lanarkshire, and historically in the Parish of Cadder). William Wallace is said to have drunk from the well whenever he visited the area and also just before his capture by English troops commanded by Sir John Mentieth.

Barmulloch (Scottish Gaelic: Barr a' Mhullaich) is a district in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated north of the River Clyde. Formerly rural, it was developed as a post war overspill housing area, largely featuring Prefabricated housing. Barmulloch shared the Red Road complex of multi-storey flats with the neighbouring district of Balornock prior to their demolition. Barmulloch has recently undergone huge changes which included demolition of tenement housing and building of new houses with driveways and private gardens. These developments are followed closely by Scottish charity Barmulloch Community Development Company (BCDC) who own 3 community premises in Barmulloch – Barmulloch Residents Centre in Quarrywood Road, the Recreation Hall in Quarrywood Avenue and the Broomfield Road Centre in Broomfield Road.
