Beauvale

Beauvale Priory (also known as Beauvale Charterhouse) was a Carthusian monastery in Beauvale, Nottinghamshire. It is a scheduled ancient monument.

Greasley is a civil parish north west of Nottingham in Nottinghamshire, England. Although it is thought there was once a village called Greasley, there is no settlement of that name today as it was destroyed by the Earl of Rutland. The built up areas in the parish are Beauvale, Giltbrook, Moorgreen (often confused with Greasley), Newthorpe, Watnall and parts of Eastwood, Kimberley and Nuthall. There is also a small hamlet known as Bog-End. The parish is one of the largest in Nottinghamshire at 8.11 square miles (21.0 km2), and the 2001 UK Census reported it had a total population of 10,467, increasing to 11,014 at the 2011 Census.

St Mary's Church, Greasley is a parish church in the Church of England in Greasley, Nottinghamshire. The church is Grade II listed by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport as it is a building of special architectural or historic interest.

Felley Priory is a 16th century house with gardens located in the village of Felley, Nottinghamshire, UK. It is situated on the grounds of a former priory established by Augustinians in 1156 and dissolved in 1536. The gardens were started in 1974 by Maria Chaworth-Musters and opened to the public through the National Garden Scheme just two years later. Since Maria's passing in 2010, the gardens have been managed by her granddaughter and expert gardener, Michelle Upchurch. In 2021, the gardens were one of the four finalists in the public gardens category in NGS's The Nation's Favourite Gardens competition.

Felley is a civil parish in the Ashfield district, in Nottinghamshire, England, located between Hucknall and Sutton-in-Ashfield. According to the 2001 census, the parish had a population of four. At the 2011 Census the population remained minimal. Details are included in the Underwood ward of Ashfield Council. Prior to 1974 it was part of Basford Rural District. The parish is grouped with the neighbouring parish of Annesley (pop 1,096) to elect a joint parish council.

Underwood is a hilltop village within the civil parish of Selston in the English ceremonial county of Nottinghamshire. The village is a ward of Ashfield with a population of 2,953 taken at the 2011 Census. It stands in a former coal mining area in the Hidden Valleys and is in the local government district of Ashfield. The village offers views across the Erewash Valley towards the Southern Pennines. It is situated near to junction 27 of the M1 and is bordered by Bagthorpe and Selston, and Brinsley and Moorgreen to the south. The gardens of Felley Priory are accessible from the village. It is part of Nottinghamshire's 'Hidden Valleys' area. Bagthorpe Primary School and Underwood Church of England Primary School have good reputations, and as a consequence the area is a desirable one for families. This has increased house prices in Underwood and Bagthorpe, especially in Lower Bagthorpe and the area along Main Road, Underwood. The village has a number of pubs including The Hole in the Wall, The Red Lion, The Shepherds Rest, Dixies Arms and The Dog & Quayle (previously The Sandhills). Underwood Miners Welfare Cricket Club was founded in 1894 and is on Church Lane in Underwood. The club has three senior teams, two playing on Saturday in divisions D and L of the South Notts Cricket League and one on a Sunday in Section 1 of the Mansfield and District Cricket League.

Newthorpe is a village in the English county of Nottinghamshire. It is in the Broxtowe Borough Council ward of Greasley (Giltbrook and Newthorpe). It forms part of the borough of Broxtowe being east of, and contiguous with, the town of Eastwood. In 1952, at the age of 15 years, John Bamford became the youngest recipient of the George Cross for bravery during a house fire in Newthorpe.

Annesley Hall is a Grade II listed country house near Annesley in Nottinghamshire, England and the ancestral home of the Chaworth-Musters family. The 13th-century park, 17th-century terraces and 19th-century pleasure gardens and walled gardens of the hall are Grade II* listed on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.

Annesley Woodhouse is a village in Nottinghamshire, England, located approximately 10 miles north of the City of Nottingham and 6 miles south of Mansfield, close to Junction 27 of the M1. With a current population of around 3.500, from the 2011 census being included in the civil parish of Annesley.

Giltbrook is a village in England situated approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) northwest of Nottingham and within close reach of junction 26 of the M1 motorway. It is part of Greasley (Giltbrook and Newthorpe) ward, which had a population of 6,076 in 2001, increasing to 6,233 at the 2011 Census.The name Giltbrook is believed to come from the old English name "Gylden Broc", which means golden stream, or brook. This relates to the brook that runs from the fields to the north of IKEA, and then continues under Nottingham Road at Giltbrook, and under the IKEA entrance, finally flowing into the River Erewash. Notable events include Giltbrook being the end point of the Pentrich rising where a small force of soldiers: twenty men of the 15th Regiment of Light Dragoons ended the rising. Some streets have been named after the ring leaders, with names such as Brandreth, Turner and Ludlam being used. The village is home to the Giltbrook Retail Park which has been developed due to the presence and popularity of IKEA, Decathlon and a Next store. In 2008 a whole retail park was built on the land next to IKEA, including Pets at Home, Laura Ashley, Comet, BHS, Boots, and Carpet Right. Comet, BHS and Laura Ashley have now ceased trading, being replaced by TK Maxx, Marks & Spencer and DFS respectively. Other local businesses include the head office of Essentra Packaging, one pub, the Hayloft, a cob shop, a fish and chip shop, a hairdressers, a Chinese takeaway, carpet shop, plumbing shop and a garage. Giltbrook was previously home to the New White Bull public house which dated back to the turn of the 19th century. After failed attempts to save the pub, it closed on 7 January 2015 to make way for the development of a Co-operative Food store.Giltbrook is represented on the Broxtowe Borough Council by three Conservative councillors, Nottinghamshire County Council by one independent councillor and the House of Commons by Conservative MP Darren Henry. One notable person who was born in Giltbrook was the undefeated bare knuckle fighter and boxer, Bartley Gorman, known as King of the Gypsies.

Watnall is an area in the Borough of Broxtowe in Nottinghamshire, England. It is part of Greasley civil parish, and is located one mile north of Kimberley. It is in the Nuthall West and Greasley (Watnall) ward of Broxtowe Council. The village is barely separated from Nuthall. Watnall Hall was built c. 1690 and demolished in 1962. Today, only the gate piers, fragments of the stone boundary wall and lodge remain on Main Road. Its owners included Launcelot Rolleston in the 18th century. Even though only a village, Watnall is home to many businesses and organisations, such as British Bakeries and the Nottingham meteorological centre. There are three World War II bunkers in Watnall that served as Royal Air Force Fighter Command for the Midlands.
