Slottsskogen

Slottskogens djurpark is a Swedish zoo in the park Slottsskogen, located in the town Gothenburg in Sweden. It is a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA).Partially opened for public in 1876, Slottskogens djurpark is one of the oldest zoos in Sweden. There is no entrance fee charged. Among the species displayed is Swedish animals, a pond with seals and penguins. During summer season, a children zoo is open, where children can meet animals like goats, sheep and pigs.

2024 World Masters Athletics Championshipsis the 25th in a series of World Masters Athletics Outdoor Championships (WMAC) that will place in Gothenburg, Sweden from 13 to 25 August 2024. This Championships was originally scheduled for 2023, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The main venue is Slottsskogsvallen. Supplemental venues include Ullevi Stadium, Björlanda Athletics Center "invented thanks to the WMAC", Slottsskogen City Park for Road Walks, Half Marathon, and Cross Country, and House of Athletics for training and preparations. This Championships is organized by World Masters Athletics (WMA) in coordination with a Local Organising Committee (LOC). Details of this competition will be finalized following the 2023 General Assembly that will be held in Gothenburg. The WMA is the global governing body of the sport of athletics for athletes 35 years of age or older, setting rules for masters athletics competition.

1977 World Masters Athletics Championships is the second in a series of World Masters Athletics Outdoor Championships (called World Masters Championships or World Veterans Championships at the time) that took place in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 8 to 13 August 1977.The main venue was Slottsskogsvallen. : 1 : 46  Supplemental venues included Ullevi Stadium for 5K and 10K races, the former Gothenburg-Särö railroad route for Marathon, and the park around Björngårdsvillan for Cross Country and Road Walks. This edition of masters athletics Championships had a minimum age limit of 35 years for women and 40 years for men. : 4  The age groups for women are now in 5-year (rather than 10-year as in 1975) divisions, same as for men. : 3 The governing body of this series is World Association of Veteran Athletes (WAVA, initially called World Veterans Athletic Association). : 2  WAVA was formed during meeting at the inaugural edition of this series at Toronto in 1975, then officially founded and named when its constitution was proposed during General Assembly at this edition on 9 August 1977. : 47 : 167 : 4 : 2 : 7  WAVA was renamed as World Masters Athletics (WMA) at the Brisbane Championships in 2001. : 4 : 56 This Championships was organized by the nascent WAVA in coordination with a Local Organising Committee (LOC) led by Roland Jerneryd ( SWE). Slottsskogsvallen (Swedish: [ˈslɔ̂tːskuːɡsˌvalːɛn], "The Castle Forest Field") is a multi-use stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is currently used mostly for football and athletics. It was the home ground of Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC till 2006. The stadium has a capacity of 8,480, and was built in 1923. It is considered one of the most beautiful arenas in Sweden. It hosted the second Women's World Games in 1926. The Swedish athlete Gunder Hägg started his record-breaking streak at Slotsskogsvallen in 1942. The annual half marathon race, Göteborgsvarvet, the world's largest half marathon race, finishes in the arena. The annual Göteborg Marathon starts and finishes in the arena.

Frölundaborg is an indoor arena located in the Frölunda borough of Gothenburg, Sweden. Frölundaborg is primarily used as an indoor venue for ice hockey games. It has a capacity of 7,600 people. The attendance record is 10,244, set in 1970. It also has been used when the main arena, Scandinavium, has been scheduled for other activities. This has been the case several times for unplanned matches, such as when Frölunda HC played in the Swedish Championship finals. It also serves as a venue for handball events. The Frölundaborg, along with the Scandinavium, will be a venue hosting the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship in Gothenburg. It will host games in Pool B.

Masthugget Church (Swedish: Masthuggskyrkan) in Gothenburg, Sweden, was built in 1914. Its position on a high hill (Masthugget) close to the city and near the Göta älv makes it a striking sight – the church tower is 60 m (200 ft) high in itself. The church represents the National Romantic style in Nordic architecture and was designed by Sigfrid Ericson. The church, which has become one of the symbols of Gothenburg, is a popular tourist attraction.

On 15 February 1932, three people were killed and seven others wounded in an explosion at an apartment building in Gothenburg, Sweden. Investigators determined that Bernhard Johansson, whose ex-wife lived in the complex, had intentionally detonated explosives to kill her. He was found dead of self-inflicted injuries that morning.

Oscar Fredrik Church (Swedish: Oscar Fredriks kyrka) is a church in Olivedal in Gothenburg, Sweden. It was drawn by Helgo Zetterwall and erected in the 1890s. Belonging to the Gothenburg Oscar Fredrik Parish of the Church of Sweden, it was opened on Easter Sunday 1893. The style is Neo Gothic, but the influence is not the Nordic gothic style but rather the style one can find in the large cathedrals in continental Europe. The church and the parish got its name from king Oscar II (Oscar Fredrik being his full name).

Gothenburg Municipality (Göteborgs kommun or Göteborgs stad) is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Gothenburg. When the first Swedish local government acts were implemented in 1863 the City of Gothenburg, founded and chartered in 1621, became a city municipality with an elected city council (stadsfullmäktige). Its territory has since then been added through amalgamations in 1868, 1906, 1922, 1931, 1945, 1948, 1967 and 1974. The local government reform of 1971 made the city a unitary municipality, like all others in the country. The municipality prefers, however, to style itself Göteborgs stad (City of Göteborg), whenever legally possible. In March 2018 it was reported that the municipality and municipality-owned companies had 236 employees working with public relations (Swedish: kommunikation), more than Stockholm, to a cost of 400 000 SEK daily or 151 million SEK annually.

Andra långgatan (Second Long Street) is a street in Gothenburg, Sweden. It starts west of Haga at Järntorget and ends at Masthuggstorget. The street is renowned for its many restaurants, bars, galleries and record shops. Although the street has a dodgy past its reputation has now been redeemed. It is now a "magnet for creative types" according to Lonely planet. The tourists have yet to find this street but alternative Gothenburgians love the street for its "authenticity". It doesn't house any major commercial corporations such as Mcdonald's or H&M but more smaller venues. Once every year (since 2007) andra långgatan houses a street party. On this day, the shop owners and restaurants bring their products to the outside, local commerce takes place and music is filling the streets. The event is not advertised and the date is spread through social media and word of mouth.

The Annedal Church (Swedish: Annedalskyrkan) is a church building in Annedal in Gothenburg, Sweden. Belonging to the Gothenburg Annedal Parish of the Church of Sweden, construction begun in 1908 and the church was opened on Thanksgiving Day, 25 September 1910 by bishop Edvard Herman Rodhe.

Syndikalistiskt Forum is a self-managed social centre in Gothenburg, Sweden. It was founded in 1980, at the Sprängkullen social centre. It moved to the Landsvägatan and then the Folkets hus. Between 2012 and 2018, it was based at Övre Husargatan 27, where it had a café, infoshop and library. It is now located at Linnégatan 21 in the Viktoriahuset.In 2014, the Forum organised a free week-long film festival at the same time as the Gothenburg Film Festival. Groups such as Planka.nu, Allt åt alla, Solgruppen Göteborg and Gothenburg feminists organised evenings. On 11 November 2016, a bomb went off outside the centre. Windows were broken but nobody was hurt. In January 2017 there were two more bombings outside refugee centres and three neo-Nazis connected to the Nordic Resistance Movement were arrested and charged regarding the incidents. They received prison sentences of eight and a half years, five year and one and a half years respectively.The centre held its radical bookfair for the fourth time between 28 September to 1 October 2017. The event occurs at the same time as the Gothenburg Book Fair.
