Ten Boer

The Ommelanden (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɔməˌlɑndən]; Surrounding Lands) are the parts of Groningen province that surround Groningen city. Usually mentioned as synonym for the province in the expression Stad en Ommeland ("city and surrounding lands"). The area was Frisian-speaking, but under the influence of the Saxon city of Groningen most of the area turned to speaking Low Saxon. A reminder of the Frisian past is the Ommelanden flag which looks a lot like the Frisian provincial flag but has more and narrower stripes and more red pompeblêden (stylised heart-shaped leaves of yellow water-lily). The area is made up of the following four quarters: Westerkwartier Hunsingo Fivelingo with Oldambt Westerwolde

Ten Post is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is part of the municipality of Groningen. The village is located along the Damsterdiep and about 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) from Groningen.

Thesinge (Gronings: Taisen) is a village in the municipality of Groningen, in the Dutch province of Groningen. The Benedictine monastery of Germania was founded in Thesinge in 1205.

Stedum (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈsteːdʏm]; Gronings: Steem [ˈsteɪm]) is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Eemsdelta, about 15 km (9 mi) northeast of the city of Groningen. Stedum was a separate municipality until 1990, when it merged with Loppersum.The German municipality of Hohenhameln, which includes the German village of Stedum, was twinned with the Dutch municipality of Loppersum.

Groningen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɣroːnɪŋə(n)] ; Gronings: Grunn; West Frisian: Grinslân) is the northeasternmost province of the Netherlands. It borders on Friesland to the west, Drenthe to the south, the German state of Lower Saxony to the east, and the Wadden Sea to the north. As of February 2020, Groningen had a population of 586,309 and a total area of 2,960 km2 (1,140 sq mi). A coalition of GroenLinks, the Labour Party, ChristianUnion, People's Party for Freedom and Democracy, Democrats 66, and Christian Democratic Appeal forms the executive branch. The province is divided into 10 municipalities. The land is mainly used for agriculture. There are seaports in Delfzijl and Eemshaven. The Groningen gas field, one of the world's largest, was discovered in 1959. The province is home to the University of Groningen and Hanze University of Applied Sciences.

Stedum is a railway station located in Stedum, The Netherlands. The station was opened on 15 June 1884 and is located on the Groningen–Delfzijl railway. The train services are operated by Arriva.

Garmerwolde (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌɣɑr.mərˈʋɔl.də]; Gronings: Gaarmwol or Gaarmerwold) is a village in the municipality of Groningen in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. The village is partly located on the Damsterdiep and has a population of 495 (2021). Until January 1, 2019, the village belonged to the municipality of Ten Boer.

Harkstede (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦɑr(ə)ksteːdə]), also known as Haarkstee ([ˈhaː(r)ksteː]) in Gronings, is a small village in the northeastern Netherlands. It is located in Midden-Groningen, Groningen. Harkstede is located near the "Meerstad Project" of the municipality of Groningen, however it is no longer part of the project.

Winneweer (pronounced [ˈʋɪnəʋeːr]) is a small village in the municipalities of Eemsdelta and Groningen in the Dutch province of Groningen. The village was first mentioned in 1668 as "Winne-weer, een Logijs-plaets", and refers to an inn which was located near Garrelsweer, and is nowadays a pub. The etymology is unclear.Before 1850, there was hardly any habitation in Winneweer. After 1850, industry started to settle in Winneweer. A saw mill turned into a wood factory, a dairy factory and a brickworks followed. Winneweer consists of about 50 houses.

Fivelingo or Fivelgo is a historical region and one of the Ommelanden (shires) in the province of Groningen. It was located southeast of Hunsingo, northeast of Gorecht, and northwest of Oldambt, and southwest of the Wadden Sea. Fivelingo was named after the historical river Fivel.

Meerstad is a planned town in the Dutch province of Groningen. It started in 2007 as part of the municipality of Slochteren, but was transferred to the city of Groningen in 2017. The original plan was to built 10,000 houses for 30,000 people by 2026, but has been revised to 6,000 houses by 2035.

The Bevrijdingsbos (Liberation forest) is a forest on the edge of the city of Groningen between the district Lewenborg and the village of Garmerwolde in the Netherlands. The forest was planted in 1995 to commemorate the 50th year of liberation of the Netherlands by the Canadian Army in 1945. The forest is an acknowledgement and tribute to the Canadian armed forces who liberated Groningen in April 1945. The forest consists of 30.000 maple trees, of which the leaf is the national symbol of Canada. In and next to the Bevrijdingsbos can be found the so-called 'Plein van de Wereld' (Square of the World), an information sign, a memoriam bench and a monument engraved with the names of the Canadian army units who liberated the city and forced out the Germans. Through the forest runs a path with big stones from ten different countries. On these stepping stones are written the Ten fundamental rights of children. The path ends with a stone which reads the eleventh right: The right of children to play outside freely and safely.
