West Jefferson High School, also known as WJHS, and West Jeff is a public high school located in Harvey in unincorporated Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States, just outside New Orleans. It was founded in 1955. This is one of the schools in Jefferson Parish that offered the Laptop one to one initiative program. West Jefferson also offers transportation for students to and from school for free. This is a Title I school The school was damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. It serves portions of several communities, including Harvey, Gretna, and Timberlane. All of Terrytown is in the West Jefferson attendance zone.

Because AM 1540 is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A KXEL Waterloo, Iowa, and ZNS-1 Nassau, Bahamas, WFNO is a daytimer, required to be off the air at night to avoid interference, when radio waves travel farther. Programming is also heard on a 250 watt FM translator in New Orleans. 97.5 K248BB can be heard around the clock, unlike the AM station.

The St. Joseph Church-Convent of the Most Holy Sacrament Complex is a historic church complex located at the corner of Lavoisier Street and 7th Street in Gretna, Louisiana. The 2 acres (0.81 ha) area includes: The St. Joseph Church, built in 1926 in Colonial Revival style with Spanish Baroque details. A convent and boarding school built in 1899. The three story brick structure was enlarged, with the addition of a wing containing the chapel, in 1907. A two-story stuccoed masonry school building built c.1940, considered a non contributing resource. A landscaped yard with an ornamental terra cotta fountain at its center.The complex was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 15, 1983. It was also included in Gretna Historic District at the time of its creation on May 2, 1985.

Gretna Historic District is a historic district in downtown Gretna, Louisiana, roughly bounded by 1st Street, Amelia Street, 9th Street, Gulf Drive, 4th Street and Huey P. Long Avenue. The 130-acre (53 ha) area comprises a total of 737 buildings and structures, of which 553 are considered contributing properties, and 4 are also listed on the National Register of Historic Places as individual properties. Building dates vary from c.1845 to 1935 and are mostly creole cottages, shotgun houses, bungalows and corner commercial buildings. Styles vary from the Greek Revival and Italianate of 1845-1879 structures, to the Italianate, Eastlake and Colonial Revival of the 1880-1910 buildings, to the Colonial Revival, 20th century eclectic and bungalow style.The historic district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 2, 1985.
