11th Ward of New Orleans

The 12th Ward or Twelfth Ward is a division of the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, one of the 17 Wards of New Orleans. The Ward was formerly part of the old Jefferson City annexed by New Orleans in 1870.

The St. Joseph Church-Convent of the Most Holy Sacrament Complex is a historic church complex located at the corner of Lavoisier Street and 7th Street in Gretna, Louisiana. The 2 acres (0.81 ha) area includes: The St. Joseph Church, built in 1926 in Colonial Revival style with Spanish Baroque details. A convent and boarding school built in 1899. The three story brick structure was enlarged, with the addition of a wing containing the chapel, in 1907. A two-story stuccoed masonry school building built c.1940, considered a non contributing resource. A landscaped yard with an ornamental terra cotta fountain at its center.The complex was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 15, 1983. It was also included in Gretna Historic District at the time of its creation on May 2, 1985.

The 16th Ward or Sixteenth Ward is a division of the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, one of the 17 Wards of New Orleans. It is an Uptown ward, along with the adjacent 17th Ward, formerly part of the city of Carrollton, Louisiana which was annexed by New Orleans in the 1870s.

The population was 17,814 at the 2020 U.S. census.

Gretna Historic District is a historic district in downtown Gretna, Louisiana, roughly bounded by 1st Street, Amelia Street, 9th Street, Gulf Drive, 4th Street and Huey P. Long Avenue. The 130-acre (53 ha) area comprises a total of 737 buildings and structures, of which 553 are considered contributing properties, and 4 are also listed on the National Register of Historic Places as individual properties. Building dates vary from c.1845 to 1935 and are mostly creole cottages, shotgun houses, bungalows and corner commercial buildings. Styles vary from the Greek Revival and Italianate of 1845-1879 structures, to the Italianate, Eastlake and Colonial Revival of the 1880-1910 buildings, to the Colonial Revival, 20th century eclectic and bungalow style.The historic district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 2, 1985.

The Old Jefferson Parish Courthouse is a historic three-story building in Gretna, Louisiana. It was designed in the Renaissance Revival style by architect R.S. Soule, and built in 1907. It was the parish courthouse until 1956. It is now the Gretna city hall. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since January 21, 1983.

The David Crockett Fire Hall and Pumper, at 205 Lafayette St. in Gretna, Louisiana, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The fire station was built in 1859. It is a two-story wood-frame structure, which was later modified.The firehouse is part of Gretna Historical Society Museum. It is also a contributing property of the Gretna Historic District.

The Grand Isle School is a PreK-12 school in Grand Isle, a community in unincorporated Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. It is a part of Jefferson Parish Public Schools.

Thomas Jefferson High School for Advanced Studies, more commonly known as simply Thomas Jefferson High School, is a public high school in the city of Gretna in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. It has consistently ranked among the state's best public high schools and is also among the most diverse It is part of the Jefferson Parish Public Schools system. The school had 389 students in 2016. It has 60 percent minority enrollment. The school is at 17 Gretna Boulevard.The school mascot is a jaguar and the colors california blue, gray, and black.

The Jackson Avenue–Gretna ferry was a ferry across the Mississippi River in the U.S. state of Louisiana, connecting Jackson Avenue in New Orleans with Huey P. Long Avenue in Gretna. It carried automobiles for $1.00; bicycles and pedestrians for free. The Crescent City Connection Division of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development operated the ferry on weekdays from 06:00 to 20:45.

The Warehouse, located at 1820 Tchoupitoulas Street, was the main venue for rock music in New Orleans in the 1970s. Concert posters from the early 1970s printed the name as "a warehouse". It was founded by the partners in Beaver Productions. The venue had an estimated capacity of 3,500. It opened with a triple bill of The Flock, Fleetwood Mac and the headlining Grateful Dead on January 30, 1970. The members of the Grateful Dead were arrested on the venue's opening weekend for drug possession when police raided their hotel rooms. The incident was immortalized in the band's song "Truckin'," with the lines "busted down on Bourbon Street, set up like a bowling pin." On February 1, there was a "Bread for the Dead" concert to raise money for legal fees. The Flock could not stay but Fleetwood Mac and the Grateful Dead performed, and concluded with an almost 40-minute jam together on "Turn on Your Lovelight". The Allman Brothers Band played many celebrated shows at the venue. Jim Morrison's last concert with The Doors was at The Warehouse on December 12, 1970. The concert included the second and final performance of "Riders on the Storm". An early iteration of Kansas (now known to fans as "Kansas I") opened the show and sat in with The Doors. ZZ Top's live recording of "Jailhouse Rock" at The Warehouse was included on Fandango! (1975). On June 4, 1982 The Clash did a set. Opening was New Orleans musician Lee Dorsey. Talking Heads performed the last show at the venue on September 10, 1982. The Warehouse was ultimately demolished in April 1989.
