Vanier (electoral district)

Vanier-Les Rivières is a provincial electoral district in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada, that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It consists of the entire territory of the Les Rivières borough of Quebec City. It was created for the 2012 election from a light modification to the former Vanier electoral district.

The anchors are La Baie d'Hudson, Simons, Atmosphère/Sports Experts, Toys "R" Us, IMAX, Best Buy. There is also a Rona l'Entrepôt in the parking lot. The mall is famous for its indoor amusement park, le Mega-Parc, with 18 attractions and amusement rides including the first spokeless Ferris wheel in America. The IMAX theatre has the largest screen in Canada.Les Galeries de la Capitale is the largest mall in the city with 1,500,000 square feet (139,354.6 m2). It is also the infrastructure in Quebec City with the highest tax value at $320 million in 2007. With 11 million visitors annually, Galeries de la Capitale ranked in 2012 as the second most visited shopping mall in Quebec City after Laurier Québec and the fourth in the province as a whole.

Les Rivières (The Rivers) is a borough of Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Population (2006): 59,920. It comprises 5 neighbourhoods: Neufchâtel-Est, Lebourgneuf, Duberger, Les Saules and Vanier. Except for Vanier, all of these neighbourhoods were part of the pre-2002 city of Quebec.

The Rivière du Berger is a tributary of the Saint-Charles River located in Quebec, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. It is 18.4 km long. The Berger river valley is served (from upstream to downstream) by boulevard Central, boulevard Lebourgneuf, rue de la Rive Boisée Nord, boulevard Robert-Bourassa, avenue Chauveau, boulevard Bastien, rue Élisabeth-II, rue du Pomerol, rue de Jurançon, rue du Daim and rue Saint-Alexandre. The surface of the Berger River (except the rapids areas) is generally frozen from the beginning of December to the end of March; however, safe circulation on the ice is generally done from the end of December to the beginning of March. The water level of the river varies with the seasons and the precipitation; the spring flood occurs in March or April.

The Lorette River is a tributary of the Saint-Charles River, crossing the sector Sainte-Foy–Sillery–Cap-Rouge and the area of L'Ancienne-Lorette in Quebec City, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, Canada. Quebec County (French: Comté de Québec) was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly of the Parliament of the Province of Canada, in Canada East, surrounding Quebec City. It was created in 1841 and was based on the previous electoral district of the same name for the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada. Quebec County was represented by one member in the Legislative Assembly. It was abolished in 1867, upon the creation of Canada and the province of Quebec.

Vanier is a former city in central Quebec, Canada. It was amalgamated into Quebec City in 2002. It is located within the Borough of Les Rivières. Population (2001): 11,504 Fleur de Lys centre commercial, a shopping centre is located in Vanier. It is contains a mix of residential and industrial areas and is considered a working class district of the city. The southern portion of the district follows a grid pattern layout and contains many 2 story duplex properties and a high school, whilst the northern part is more suburban in nature and contains more single story homes.

Québec (formerly known as Langelier) is a federal electoral district that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1968. It is located in Quebec City in the province of Quebec, Canada. The main employer in the district is the provincial Government of Quebec.

Cégep de Sainte-Foy is a French-language CEGEP in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. It is located in the borough of Sainte-Foy–Sillery–Cap-Rouge. There are nearly 8,000 students registered at the college, making it one of the largest in the province outside of Montreal. It was founded in 1967.

The Cimetière Notre-Dame-de-Belmont (English: Belmont Cemetery) is a historic garden cemetery located in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. The Roman Catholic cemetery was built between 1857 and 1859. Its architect, Charles Baillargé, took inspiration from the noted garden cemetery of Green-Wood, in Brooklyn, New York State, United States. The cemetery was blessed on July 10, 1859, and Belmont Cemetery's first burial took place two days later.The war graves section is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Undeveloped sections remain next to Quebec Autoroute 440. On the grounds is Coopérative funéraire des Deux Rives – Centre du Plateau. The cemetery is now surround by residential homes and Parc Centre de glisse Myrand.

Champlain College St. Lawrence (French: College Champlain St.Lawrence) is a campus belonging to Champlain Regional College. The campus is located in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, and is the only English-language Cégep to serve the region.

Saint-Sauveur was a former provincial electoral district in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. It was created for the 1890 election from part of Québec-Est electoral district. Its final election was in 1970. It disappeared in the 1973 election and its successor electoral districts were Taschereau and Vanier.
