Cock Marsh

Coldmoorholme (or Coldmoorholm, formerly Coldmoorham or Coldmorham) is a hamlet in the parish of Little Marlow in Buckinghamshire, England. It is now considered part of the village of Bourne End, and locally the area is known as 'Spade Oak'.

Bourne End Railway Bridge is a railway bridge carrying the Marlow Branch Line, and a footpath over the River Thames in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire, England. It crosses the Thames on the reach between Cookham Lock and Marlow Lock. The bridge was originally constructed in wood by Isambard Kingdom Brunel as part of the Wycombe Railway, opened in 1854 and operated in broad gauge until 1870. The narrow spans were unpopular with river traffic and the bridge was reconstructed in steel in 1895. A footbridge, cantilevered out from the railway bridge was added in 1992, to take the Thames Path across the river; this substitutes for the historical towpath crossing point at Spade Oak ferry, about 1 km upstream of the bridge.In 2013, the bridge was restored and repainted in green, and a large number of rivets which had rusted away were replaced. The restoration took nearly a year to complete, being finished in December. There was a plan to electrify the line, but due to cost overruns during electrifying the GWR main line, this has apparently been postponed indefinitely.

Well End is a hamlet in the parish of Little Marlow, in Buckinghamshire, England. It is situated on the north-west side of the village of Bourne End. Although it lies in a separate parish, it is geographically contiguous with and subordinate to Bourne End; but unlike most of the hamlets consumed by its larger neighbour, it retains a distinct character, and the use of the name is common and well recognised locally. The area was once known as Fontibus de Merlow, (Marlow Fountain), of which Well End is a likely etymological derivative. It is endowed with Abbotsbrook Hall, a small, parish council-owned venue used for community events. The local hostelry is The Black Lion situated on Marlow Road. Claytons School, the junior school serving Well End and Bourne End, is sited locally on Wendover Road. There is nearby access to the Little Marlow Gravel Pits nature reserve and to the River Thames towpath. Well End was formerly home to a Congregationalist mission hall and The Blacksmiths Arms public house.

Cookham railway station serves the village of Cookham, Berkshire, England. Great Western Railway trains between Maidenhead and Marlow serve the station on the Marlow branch line, but through services to and from London Paddington in peak hours Monday to Friday no longer run. It is 2 miles 73 chains (4.7 km) down the line from Maidenhead and 27 miles 12 chains (43.7 km) measured from Paddington. Cookham station was opened by the Wycombe Railway in 1854. The station now has a single platform, but the remains of a second platform are still visible. The former Station House is now let to private occupants.

The River Wye is a river in Buckinghamshire, England. Around 10.5 miles (16.9 km) in length, it rises close to West Wycombe village in the Chiltern Hills and flows through High Wycombe before emptying into the River Thames at Bourne End, on the reach above Cookham Lock. In particularly wet years, the source can temporarily change and effectively extend the river by another mile, due to a chalk spring rising above the ground in a field further up the same valley. High Wycombe takes part of its name from the river, which now runs mostly underground through the town. Pann Mill watermill, at the eastern end of Wycombe, is the last remaining watermill on the River Wye.

Bourne End is a village mostly in the parish of Wooburn, but partly in that of Little Marlow in Buckinghamshire, England. It is about five miles (8 km) south-east of High Wycombe and three miles (5 km) east of Marlow, near the boundary with Berkshire and close to where the Buckinghamshire River Wye empties into the Thames.

Fern House Gravel Pit is a 1.3-hectare (3.2-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Fern, near Bourne End in Buckinghamshire. It is also a Geological Conservation Review site.This site exposes the Pleistocene Taplow Gravel formation, and may help to elucidate a poorly understood period in the history of the River Thames, between glacial Anglian stage, around 450,000 years ago, when the river was diverted south to its present course, and the warm Ipswichian around 120,000 years ago. Fossils found at the site include straight-tusked elephants and mammoths.The site is on private land with no public access.

Gibraltar Islands are a pair of islands in the River Thames in England above Bourne End Railway Bridge on the reach above Cookham Lock, near Cookham Dean, Berkshire. There is a footbridge to one of the islands which is closely connected to the other. Previously the islands were more numerous little aits on which osiers were grown. There are some houses on the islands. The islands are opposite Quarry Wood on the Berkshire bank which is considered to be the basis for the Wild Woods in The Wind in the Willows. The woods are also referenced by Jerome K. Jerome.

Bourne End railway station serves Bourne End in Buckinghamshire, England. It is on the Marlow Branch Line between Maidenhead and Marlow, 4 miles 36 chains (7.2 km) down the line from Maidenhead and 28 miles 55 chains (46.2 km) measured from London Paddington. Services are provided by Great Western Railway. The ticket office is open on weekday and Saturday mornings. There is a customer car park south of the station. The station has two platforms.

Fern is a hamlet in the parish of Little Marlow, in Buckinghamshire, England. Historically this was a wasteland area of the parish, off the Marlow to Bourne End road. A workhouse was built here in 1781, which was a productive needlework and embroidery manufactory during the Victorian times. After the workhouse was sold to private hands in the early twentieth century, it became known as Fern House, and other cottages and houses were built along what is now Fern Lane. The Little Marlow parish cemetery is located at the end of the road. It was consecrated in 1900 and has a small chapel. The popular crime writer Edgar Wallace is buried there. There is a small, disused gravel pit in the hamlet, the Fern House Gravel Pit. Significant geological formations have been noted in the sides of the pit and this is now a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Adjacent to Fern, on Sheepridge Lane, is the headquarters of the Vulcan Explorer Scouts unit.
