Göss Abbey

Gösser (German pronunciation: [ˈɡœsɐ] ) beer is the main brand of Göss Brewery in Leoben, one of the largest and most-well known in Austria. The brewery is part of Brau Union, the largest Austrian brewer, whose majority shareholder is the Dutch brewing company Heineken.

The Stadttheater Leoben is a theatre in Leoben, Austria.

The Justice Centre Leoben is a court and prison complex in Leoben in Styria, Austria, which was designed by architect Josef Hohensinn and was completed in November 2004. With 205 inmates, the prison is fully booked. There are two inscriptions on the prison's perimeter: "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights," which is taken from The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and "All persons deprived of their liberty shall be treated with humanity and with respect for the inherent dignity of the human person." Jim Lewis of The New York Times said that in Europe the prison's design became "more of a model — not universally accepted, but not easily ignored either" while the prison's public profile in the United States was "limited to a series of get-a-load-of-this e-mail messages and mocking blog posts (where the prison is often misidentified as a corrections center outside Chicago)."

Leoben (German pronunciation: [leˈoːbm̩] ) is a Styrian city in central Austria, located on the Mur river. With a population of about 25,000 it is a local industrial centre and hosts the University of Leoben, which specialises in mining. The Peace of Leoben, an armistice between Austria and France preliminary to the Treaty of Campo Formio, was signed in Leoben in 1797. The Justice Centre Leoben is a prison designed by architect Josef Hohensinn, which was completed in 2005.

Donawitz Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Leoben, Austria. It is used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of DSV Leoben. The stadium holds 6,000 people and was built in 2000.

The University of Leoben in Austria is the country's university for mining, metallurgy and materials. It was founded on 4 November 1840 as the Steiermärkisch-Ständische Montanlehranstalt in Vordernberg, Styria, Austria's mining region. In 1849 Peter Tunner relocated the university to nearby Leoben. That year the university had a mere 48 students enrolled. The University of Leoben is a member of TU Austria, an association of three Austrian universities of technology and offers education and conducts research in the fields of mining, metallurgy and materials science.

Leoben Hauptbahnhof is the main station at Leoben, a city in the federal state of Styria in Austria. The station is located on the Bruck an der Mur–Leoben railway. West of the station, the Rudolf Railway branches off to the north.

Proleb [prɔˈle:p] is a municipality in the district of Leoben in Styria, Austria. The municipal area comprises the northern Upper Mur-valley between Leoben and Sankt Dionysen, with the valleys of the streams Prentgrabenbach, Prolebbach and Kletschbach. The river Mur is the southern border of the municipal territory. The village valley is at 500 meters above sea level. The municipal area is mostly wooded and reaches up to over 1400 meters above sea level at the Klatschbachkogel. The area covers 25 square kilometers, with three quarters being wooded and 17 percent used for agriculture.The village includes the following four cadastral communities (in brackets population as per January 2022): Kletschach (74) Köllach (382) Prentgraben (38) Proleb (1098) Proleb is a LEADER-Region of the Steirische Eisenstraße and belongs to the Regionext-Kleinregion Murtal, which comprises the neighbouring municipal areas Leoben, Niklasdorf, Proleb, Sankt Michael in der Obsteiermark and Sankt Stefan ob Leoben. Although during the Styrian municipal structural reform between 2010 and 2015 Proleb was in discussion with Niklasdorf regarding a potential merger, the village has maintained its independence.

The Gleinalm Tunnel (German: Gleinalmtunnel) is a highway tunnel in Styria, Austria. It lies along the Pyhrn Autobahn and it is 8320 m long. It connects the district of Leoben with the district Graz-Umgebung. It was opened on 1978. The tunnel was in part built as an alternative route from Graz to the Murau District and the Murtal district, shortening the trip by about 20 minutes. Currently the tunnel has only one tube with oncoming traffic. The speed limit is 80 km/h and it has a toll of 10 euro. A second tube is under construction since 21 September 2013. The whole project will cost about 299 million euro. The new tube was opened on 21 July 2017: both tunnels will be in service until September 2017, after which the old tube will be closed for renovation. Both tubes will definitively open in 2019 according to the project plan.

Upper Styria (German: Obersteiermark), in the Austrian usage of the term, refers exclusively to the northwestern, generally mountainous and well-wooded half of the federal state of Styria. The southwestern half of the state around the capital of Graz is known as Central Styria (Mittelsteiermark), which is further divided into Eastern and Western Styria (east and west of Graz).

The Liesing, sometimes also called the Liesingbach, is a 38.7-kilometre-long (24.0 mi) river in the Leoben District of Upper Styria in central Austria. It is a left tributary of the Mur.

Sankt Michael in Obersteiermark is a municipality in the district of Leoben in the Austrian state of Styria.
