Lake Forest is an unincorporated community in Placer County, California. Lake Forest is located on Lake Tahoe, 6.25 miles (10.1 km) southwest of Kings Beach. It lies at an elevation of 6260 feet (1908 m).The Lake Forest post office operated from 1947 to 1951.

North Tahoe High School is a public high school located in the eastern Placer County settlement of Tahoe City, California, on the northern side of Lake Tahoe. It is one of two high schools in Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District; its counterpart is Truckee High School in nearby Truckee. Watson Log Cabin in Tahoe City, California, was built in 1908 by Robert Montgomery Watson. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.It is the only historic log cabin in the Tahoe City area.The cabin is now owned by the North Lake Tahoe Historical Society and is open to the public seasonally. Watson Creek and Watson Lake, just north of Lake Tahoe, are also named for R. M. Watson.

Watson Creek is a stream in northern California. It runs about 3 miles, from its source near Watson Lake, below Mount Watson, draining into Lake Tahoe. The Tahoe Rim Trail runs across the creek in its headwaters meadow, and along the eastern shore of the lake. The creek and lake and peak are named for Robert Montgomery Watson, who came to Lake Tahoe in 1875. Watson built the Watson Log Cabin, the only historic log cabin in Tahoe City, California.

Lake Tahoe Dam is a concrete gravity dam on the Truckee River, at the outlet of Lake Tahoe in Placer County, California. Tahoe Dam regulates the top six feet of Lake Tahoe, and distributes the water into Tahoe's primary outflow, the Truckee River. The dam is located in Tahoe City and serves as the main storage facility for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's Newlands Project that also includes the Lahontan Dam and two diversion dams, providing irrigation water for 55,000 acres (22,000 ha) of cropland mainly in the Lahontan Valley of western Nevada. The present Lake Tahoe dam replaced an older, privately owned dam built in 1870 at roughly the same location.The dam was built between 1909 and 1913 and stands 18.2 ft (5.5 m) high and 109 ft (33 m) long, raising Lake Tahoe by up to 10.1 ft (3.1 m). Outflows from the dam are regulated by a gated spillway with 17 bays, with a maximum release capacity of 2,100 cubic feet per second (59 m3/s). It is situated 400 feet downstream from the lake's natural shore. This is meant to help hydraulic control during a dry season with low water levels. The reservoir receives water from a catchment of 505 sq mi (1,310 km2) and has a maximum storage capacity of 732,000 acre⋅ft (0.903 km3).

The Tahoe Maritime Museum was a maritime museum founded in 1988 and was dedicated to the preservation of the maritime history of Lake Tahoe. The Museum hosted a collection of photographs and artifacts that span Lake Tahoe's maritime history, and in 2008 opened a new facility in Homewood, California to exhibit its collection. The museum shutdown in 2020 The Tahoe Maritime Museum's collection included over 25 vessels, including examples of Gar Wood, Chris-Craft, Hackercraft, Besotes, and Dodge wooden runabouts and utility boats as well as boats owned and raced by Henry J. Kaiser. In addition, the Museum was also home to the Jevarian Outboard Motor collection, an excellent collection reflecting the diversity of outboard engines over the decades. On display were models from the early 1900s as well as an outboard motor made by the Indian Silver Arrow Company. The museum also had in its collection Teaser, a 39.92 ft sweep-stakes runabout designed by George F. Crouch and built by Henry B. Nevins, that won a time trial against the 20th Century Limited in a race from New York City to Albany in 1925. The 20th Century Limited was considered the fastest train at that time. Teaser, speeding up the Hudson River, beat the record by more than an hour. The museum was a member of the North American Reciprocal Museums program.

Carnelian Bay (formerly, Cornelian Bay) is an unincorporated community on the shore of Lake Tahoe in Placer County, California, United States. The Cornelian Bay post office operated from 1883 to 1887 and from 1891 to 1893. The Carnelian Bay post office opened in 1908.For statistical purposes, the United States Census Bureau has defined Carnelian Bay as a census-designated place (CDP). The census definition of the area may not precisely correspond to local understanding of the area with the same name. The population was 524 at the 2010 census. The elevation is 6,325 feet (1,928 m). Nearby cities and towns include: Tahoe Vista, Brockway, Kings Beach, Crystal Bay, Incline Village, Truckee, Tahoma, Homewood, and Tahoe City. Its ZIP code is 96140 and its area code 530.

The Chapel of the Transfiguration in Placer County, California, also known as Saint Nicholas Episcopal Church Outdoor Chapel, was built in 1909. It is associated with Robert Montgomery Ward and Robert Howard Watson, perhaps as builders or architects. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.It is an outdoor chapel, rustic or Craftsman in appearance, apparently constructed of rough granite and wood. It is located at 855 Westlake Blvd. at Sequoia, in Tahoe City, California.The outdoor benches have been replaced a few times.

Sunnyside–Tahoe City is a census-designated place (CDP) in Placer County, California, located on the northwest shore of Lake Tahoe. The population was 1,557 at the 2010 census, down from 1,761 at the 2000 census, and a total area of 3.4 sq mi (8.8 km2), all of it land. It comprises two communities, Sunnyside, and Tahoe City.
