Crotona Park

Crotona Park East, also known as Crotona or East Morrisania, is a residential neighborhood geographically located in the southwest Bronx in New York City. Crotona Park East is considered part of the South Bronx. Its boundaries, starting from the north and moving clockwise are the Cross-Bronx Expressway to the north, the Bronx River to the east, East 167th Street to the south, and Crotona/Prospect Avenues to the west. Southern Boulevard is the primary thoroughfare through the area. The neighborhood is adjacent to, but distinct from, the nearby park named Crotona Park. The neighborhood is part of Bronx Community Board 3, and its ZIP Codes include 10459 and 10460. The area is patrolled by the NYPD's 42nd Precinct. NYCHA property in the area is patrolled by P.S.A. 7 at 737 Melrose Avenue in the Melrose section of the Bronx.

The Herman Ridder Junior High School (also known as Public School 98) is a middle school in the Morrisania section of the Bronx, part of the New York City Department of Education. Constructed in 1929–31, the building is a New York City Landmark Art Deco structure designed by Walter C. Martin. It is named after Herman Ridder, a prominent newspaper publisher and editor.

Bronx Preparatory Charter School is a public middle and high school in the South Bronx. Comprising students in grades 5-12, Bronx Prep graduated its first class of seniors in June 2007. The school is located in a modern facility designed and constructed by GLUCK+ Architects specifically for Bronx Prep at 3872 Third Avenue.

The 174th Street station was a local station on the demolished IRT Third Avenue Line in the Bronx, New York City. It was originally built on July 20, 1891, by the Suburban Rapid Transit Company and had three tracks and two side platforms. The next stop to the north was Tremont Avenue–177th Street, but in its last years it rose over the Cross Bronx Expressway in order to get there. The next stop to the south was Claremont Parkway. The station closed on April 29, 1973.

Bathgate Industrial Park is an industrial park located in the Morrisania neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City. It is south of the Cross Bronx Expressway, west of Third and Fulton Avenues (near Crotona Park), north of Claremont Parkway, and east of Washington Avenue in the district of Bronx Community Board 3. A joint project of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the New York City Economic Development Corporation (the PANYNJ leasing it from the NYCEDC) it opened in 1982 and is operated as a non profit organization. It was developed as an incentive to revitalize the South Bronx. The designation of the Bathgate Industrial Park in 1980 involved rezoning a former residential district characterized by vacant land and buildings.The industrial park covers seven city blocks spanning 20 acres (8.1 ha), and contains eight buildings and has approximately 454,000 square feet of space for light industrial, distribution, office and educational uses. Tenants include a generic drug manufacturer and food distributors, and academic and vocational training centers. The Mott Hall Bronx High School and the Urban Assembly School for Applied Math and Science are located on the site, within the Bathgate Educational Campus. In January 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City, a "mega-facility" vaccination site for COVID-19 vaccinations was opened at Bathgate Industrial Park, operating 24/7. Previously, the location had been a COVID testing site.

The Claremont Parkway station, signed as "Claremont Parkway − Between 171st St. & 172nd St." was a local station on the demolished IRT Third Avenue Line in the Bronx, New York City. It originally opened on September 19, 1888 by the Suburban Rapid Transit Company as Wendover Avenue Station, and had three tracks and two side platforms. It was the northern terminus of the Third Avenue elevated until 1891. It was also two blocks east of the former Claremont Park New York Central Railroad station along the Harlem Line that was closed in 1960. The next stop to the north was 174th Street. The next stop to the south was 169th Street. The station closed on April 29, 1973. Claremont Parkway station burned down on April 30, 1973 in a huge arson fire.

Located at the intersection of 174th Street, Southern Boulevard & Boston Road in the Crotona Park East neighborhood of the Bronx, it is served by the 2 train at all times, and the 5 train at all times except late nights and rush hours in the peak direction.

Validus Preparatory Academy is a small public high school in the south Bronx, New York. Founded in 2005, Validus currently enrolls 432 students in grades 9–12.

The Freeman Street station is a local station on the IRT White Plains Road Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of Freeman Street and Southern Boulevard in the Bronx, it is served by the 2 train at all times, and the 5 train at all times except late nights and rush hours in the peak direction.

The Eagle Academy for Young Men is an American all-boys' charter secondary school in the Bronx borough of New York City, New York. A part of the New York City Department of Education, it opened in 2004, established by the 100 Black Men of America organization. The school, intended to serve Latino/Hispanic and black boys, is a part of the Eagle Academy network of schools, which has campuses in other New York City boroughs and Newark, New Jersey.

The Bronx Municipal Building, later known as Bronx Borough Hall and eventually as Old Bronx Borough Hall (1897–1969), was the original administrative headquarters of the Bronx Borough President and other local civic leaders. It was located in the Tremont neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City.Considered an architectural accomplishment of its era, it was located atop the rocky plateau of the northwest section of present-day Tremont Park, which was originally an extension of Crotona Park, southeast of the intersection of East Tremont Avenue and Third Avenue. The elevation of the building allowed for exceptional views from distances at many angles, and it was the converging point for civic affairs. The New York City Subway's IRT Third Avenue Line, the first elevated railway line in the borough, strategically ran along the bustling neighborhoods and stopped in front of the building at the Tremont Avenue–177th Street station, where a hub of trolley lines met.

The Bronx Lyceum was a building in the Bronx, New York City erected on the southeast corner of Third Avenue and 170th Street by Henry Zeltner in 1870 across the street from his brewery. The structure was at first known as Zeltner's Hall and was surrounded by a picnic park. Following the sale of the entertainment and meeting hall by the Zeltner family, the property was called Niblo's Garden, a familiar name borrowed from an early New York opera house on Broadway, near Prince Street that was razed in 1895. The building was used as a meeting hall by politicians and union members, and served variously as an entertainment hall, skating venue, and amusement park until its destruction by fire in 1929.
