Svelvik, Tjøme

Tjøme is an island in Færder Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The 24.5-square-kilometre (9.5 sq mi) island lies immediately south of the large island of Nøtterøy, between the Ytre Oslofjord (to the east) and the Tønsbergfjorden (to the west). The smaller island of Veierland lies west of the island and Hvasser lies to the east. The island of Tjøme is connected to the islands of Nøtterøy and Hvasser by bridges and the island of Nøtterøy is connected to the mainland by the Tønsberg Canal Bridge.The island was part of Tjøme Municipality from 1838 until 2018 when it became part of the newly-created Færder Municipality. The main population centre on the island is the village of Tjøme in the central part of the island.

The municipality's population density was 125 inhabitants per square kilometre (320/sq mi) and its population had increased by 9.7% over the previous 10-year period.The whole municipality was made up of a group of islands located to the south of Nøtterøy Municipality. The municipality included all of the island of Tjøme plus the smaller islands of Hvasser, Brøtsø, Hui, and Sandø. In addition to this, there were also about 475 smaller islands and skerries. The main island of Tjøme is the second-largest island in Vestfold County.Tjøme was the childhood holiday destination for writer Roald Dahl.

The village was the administrative centre of the old Tjøme Municipality which existed from 1838 until 2018 when it became part of Færder Municipality.

It is the church for the Tjøme parish which is part of the Tønsberg domprosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Tunsberg. The stone and brick church was built in a long church design in 1867 using plans drawn up by the architect Anders Thorød. The church seats about 320 people.

A bridge connects Sundene with the village of Kjøpmannskjær which lies about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) to the northwest on the island of Nøtterøy. The village is located on the southern shore of the island of Nøtterøy, about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) east of the village of Tenvik, about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) north of the village of Sundene (on Tjøme island), and about 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) south of the village of Skjerve. The village of Strengsdal lies about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the east along the southern shore of the island. The 0.46-square-kilometre (110-acre) village has a population (2023) of 440 and a population density of 953 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,470/sq mi).

The main visitors' centre for the park is located at Verdens Ende at the southern tip of the island of Tjøme.

Tenvik is a village in Færder Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The village is located on the coast of the island of Nøtterøy, along the Tønsbergfjorden. It is located about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) west of the village of Kjøpmannskjær, about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the northwest of the village of Sundene, and about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) south of the village of Glomstein. The island of Veierland is located in the fjord about 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) to the southwest of the village. There is a ferry from Tenvik to Veierland.The village of Tenvik and the surrounding countryside had a population in 2007 of 207 people.

Strengsdal is a village in Færder Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The village is located on the southern coast of the island of Nøtterøy. It lies about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) east of the village of Kjøpmannskjær and about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) west of the village of Buerstad. The village of Torød and the Torød Church lie about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the northeast. The village of Strengsdal and the surrounding countryside has a population (in 2023) of 184.

The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1905 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 150 people.

Veierland is a populated, car-free island in Færder Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The 4.4-square-kilometre (1.7 sq mi) island is located in the Tønsbergfjorden, between the mainland (to the west), the island of Tjøme (to the east), and the island of Nøtterøy (to the northeast). Veierland Church was established in 1905. Historically, there was a Veierland School, however this closed in 2013. Veierland is primarily a summer vacation community. The island has a 17-kilometre (11 mi) shoreline with many popular swimming beaches including Kjølholmen, Hverveodden, and Kongshavn. Places for accommodation and eateries are open during the summer months.Veierland has been inhabited as long as Vestfold county. The island has a permanent year-round population of about 150 people, however, the island experiences significant summer tourism. Over 450 vacation homes can be found on the island. The island has no bridge or road connections. Veierland is connected to the mainland by 9-17 daily ferries from Tenvik on the island of Nøtterøy via the Jutøya AS. During the summer months there are also ferries from Engø peninsula in Sandefjord Municipality. Convenience stores, a golf course, and restaurants are operated on the island during summers, although most services are closed outside the tourist season. The island is primarily car-free, but residents may acquire permits for vehicles such as tractors, golf carts, mopeds, and ATVs. Besides its boat harbors, beaches, and cabin communities, the island remains densely forested with much agricultural activity.

Buerstad is a village in Færder Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The village is located on the southern coast of the island of Nøtterøy. The village of Buerstad is located about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the east of the village of Strengsdal and about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the southwest of the village of Torød where the Torød Church is located. The village of Buerstad and the surrounding countryside has a population (in 2023) of 520.
