Srimathi Sundaravalli Memorial School (or SSM) is located in Nagappa Nagar, Chrompet, Chennai, India.A second school was started in perungaluthur in 2012 which now hosts class PreKG to 12. It is located 13 km from the main school. The school follows CBSE standard of education. The school is named after Smt. Sundaravalli, mother of the founder Mr. K. Santhanam. The school was inaugurated on 11 June 1986 by the educationist the late Kulapathi Dr. Balakrishna Joshi in the presence of Sri Varadha Ethiraja Jeer Swami of Sriperumbudur. It is a co-educational school, with classes from preschool to 12, and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. This school is connected with Sarada Secondary School. The school is famous for its logistically sound student transportation system, using almost 100 buses, owned by the school. The school has trained many students who today work in the Indian Military, hospitals, and the school itself. Its results in class 10, 12 public exams. The faculty is well trained and said to have many teachers who hold masters degree which is rare in other Indian Schools The school trains the students in fine arts: keyboard, vocal, mridangam, veena, photography, bharatanatyam, violin and arts and crafts. There are two periods per week for classes 6 and above. Three periods for classes 3 to 5 of the same per week.

Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) is an engineering institute located in Chromepet, Chennai, India. It is one of the four autonomous constituent colleges of Anna University. It was established in 1949 by Chinnaswami Rajam as the first self-financing engineering institute in the country and later merged with Anna University. The institute was among the first educational institutions in India to offer new areas of specialization such as aeronautical engineering, automobile engineering, electronics engineering and instrumentation technology. MIT was the first self-financing institute opened in India. MIT is also among the institutes in India that offered postgraduate courses in Avionics and Mechatronics. The institute has a unique practice of "T numbers" that facilitates mentoring of students by their respective seniors. Established in 1949, MIT initially offered three-year diploma courses (DMIT) in Engineering for Science graduates (B.Sc.). After Anna University was established in 1978, MIT became one of the constituent institutions of the university. Post this merging, three-year B.Tech. degree courses were offered to B.Sc. graduates.
