Kingswinford

Kingswinford Academy is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located in Kingswinford, West Midlands, England.The school is run by the standard English Education System and operates with Year 7, 8 and 9 falling under KS3 and Year 10 and 11 falling under KS4, with students choosing their GCSE subjects in Year 9 and beginning their two-year GCSE learning in Year 10. The school is run by the head teacher, Thomas Macdonald. There is about 100 staff operating in the school and 1000 students. There are roughly 180 students per year group.

Kingswinford Rural District was a rural district in Staffordshire, England from 1894 to 1934. It was created by the Local Government Act 1894, and originally consisted of the two parishes of Amblecote and Kingswinford. Amblecote became a separate urban district in 1898, leaving Kingswinford the only parish in the district. The district was abolished in 1934 under a County Review Order. Most of the parish was added to the Brierley Hill Urban District, with Prestwood and Ashwood being added to the parish of Kinver in the Seisdon Rural District. Since 1974, the former now forms a part of the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley in the West Midlands, whilst the area in Kinver parish is in the South Staffordshire district.

Ketley Claypit is a 13.7 hectares (34 acres) geological site of Special Scientific Interest in the West Midlands. The site was notified in 1990 under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. It is located in Kingswinford.

Holbeche House (also, in some texts, Holbeach or Holbeache) is a mansion located approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) north of Kingswinford, now in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley but historically in Staffordshire. Some members of the Gunpowder Plot were either killed or captured at Holbeche House in 1605.

It is located on the A449 road, approximately 1.5 miles northwest of Kingswinford (of which it is considered a suburb), 5 miles west of Dudley Town Centre and 9 miles north of Kidderminster. It forms part of the West Midlands-South Staffordshire border.

Summerhill School is a mixed community secondary school located in Kingswinford, West Midlands, England.

The Crooked House was a pub in South Staffordshire, England. Its name and distinctive appearance were the result of 19th-century mining subsidence which caused one side of the building to be approximately 4 feet (1.2 m) lower than the other. It was known as "Britain's wonkiest pub", and optical illusions inside the building made objects appear to roll uphill. Located in Himley in England's Black Country, the building was originally an 18th-century farmhouse before it was converted into a pub in the 1830s. It was sold in July 2023, and on 5 August was gutted in a fire; two days later it was demolished. Police are treating the fire as arson, and investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the fire and the lawfulness of the demolition.

Wordsley is a suburban area of Stourbridge in the West Midlands, England. It is part of the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley and falls into the Stourbridge (DY8) postcode and address area, being just north of the River Stour. Wordsley is part of the Dudley South Parliamentary constituency. It is bordered by open Staffordshire countryside to the west, Kingswinford to the North, Brierley Hill to the East and Stourbridge to the South.

Bromley is a residential area of Kingswinford, West Midlands, England.It was a rural area for many centuries, mostly consisting of farmland, but since the Second World War has been extensively developed for upmarket private housing. Principle bus routes through the area are service 15/15A between Wolverhampton and Merry Hill Centre and service 226 between Dudley and the Merry Hill Centre. These are operated by National Express West Midlands and Diamond Bus respectively. A Tesco Express is located on Bromley Lane in the former Fox and Goose public house.Since the 1960s it has been home to The Crestwood School, a secondary school located on Bromley Lane.

The Red House Cone is a glass cone located in Wordsley in the West Midlands, adjacent to the Stourbridge Canal bridge on the A491 High Street. It is a 90-foot (27 m) high conical brick structure with a diameter of 60 feet (18 m), used for the production of glass. It was used by the Stuart Crystal firm till 1936, when the company moved to a new facility at Vine Street. It is one of only four complete cones remaining in the United Kingdom.It is one of four such structures in the UK and is currently maintained as a museum by Dudley Council. (The other three cones are at Lemington, Catcliffe and Alloa). At the site are 10 businesses including glass artists, pottery, jewellers, textiles fine art and demonstrations of glass blowing along with a Coffee House and gift shop.A 1-acre (4,000 m2) site, on which the cone stands, was sold by John and Ann Southwell and Rebecca Stokes to Richard Bradley, a wealthy glass-manufacturer, on 21 June 1788. The cone was built by Bradley in partnership with his brother-in-law, George Ensell, for the manufacture of window glass. Ensell installed a moving lehr in the cone, which remains today and is the only surviving one in the world.The cone received Grade II* listed building status on 23 September 1966.In April 2022, the Cone received a pledge of £1.5m from Dudley Council in order to restore the structure.
