Lambton Castle

Fatfield is an area of Washington, Tyne and Wear, England. The southern part of the village by the River Wear is popular for country walks and the three public houses and working men's club on the banks of the river. The site of the original village is just to the west.

Harraton is a former civil parish and now a suburb in the unparished area of the town of Washington, in the City of Sunderland metropolitan borough, in Tyne and Wear, England. Harraton is near the River Wear and is 3 miles north-east of Chester-le-Street, 2 miles south-west of Washington town centre and 9 miles south-southwest of Sunderland. When nearby Washington (historically a village) was founded as a new town under the New Towns Act in 1964, Harraton alongside the neighboring villages of Chaters-Hough, Fatfield, Cox Green and Picktree became suburbs of Washington forming the southern suburbs of the town. Certain developments also took place for overspill for the nearby towns of Chester Le Street and Houghton-le-Spring (also in the City of Sunderland metropolitan borough). It is on the main road serving Seahouses and the northern coast. In 1961 the parish had a population of 3,565.

Fatfield Woods is a woodland in Tyne and Wear, England, near Washington. It covers a total area of 8.99 hectares (22.21 acres). It is owned and managed by the Woodland Trust.

Chartershaugh Bridge is a road traffic bridge spanning the River Wear in North East England, linking Penshaw with Fatfield as part of the A182 road. The bridge was opened in 1975 and is named after the former settlement of Chartershaugh, which once stood on a site near the bridge.

Rickleton is an area of Washington, Tyne and Wear, England. It is located on the south side of Washington Town and borders Harraton village, Birtley and County Durham. The village centre includes a Londis supermarket, a general store, a hairdressing salon, a Fish and Chip takeaway and a bus link, which has buses linking to other areas of Washington and County Durham. A family pub, The Woodlands, Washington Cricket club, two doctors surgeries and a chemists can also be found here. There is also a large field with a small children's playing area located just of the bus route through Rickleton. Vigo Lane is the main road and runs through Rickleton and into Harraton. The Sea to Sea Cycle Route runs through the village, on the site of a disused railway. Rickleton Primary School is located in the village centre.

Lumley Thicks is a small village in County Durham, in England. It is situated between Chester-le-Street and Houghton-le-Spring, north of Great Lumley.

Lumley Castle is a 14th-century quadrangular castle at Chester-le-Street in the North of England, near the city of Durham and a property of the Earl of Scarbrough. It is a Grade I listed building. It is currently a hotel.

Chester New Bridge is a Grade II* listed medieval stone bridge over the River Wear near Chester-le-Street in County Durham, England. It carries Black Drive, the private entrance road to Lambton Castle, across the Wear just north of the A1052 road bridge, which superseded it in 1926. Frank Graham in Bridges of Northumberland and Durham describes it as "a fine 14th century bridge" but the official English Heritage listing citation considers it to be "probably C15". The parapet, which English Heritage suggest may be partly rebuilt, bears a worn inscription referring to "Charles Swinburne's Leap", an incident in which a horse and its rider were killed falling from the bridge. The bridge has a span of approximately 45 metres (148 ft) and four pointed arches with cutwaters on each pier. An archway at its eastern end, erected in 1815 by Ignatius Bonomi, marks the entrance to the Lambton Estate.

Bournmoor ( or ) is a village in County Durham, England, and is situated a short distance from Chester-le-Street. It contains St Barnabas' Church, which houses the Frostley Angel. Originally part of the Lambton Castle estate, the village developed from 1783 onwards with the sinking of the first of seven local coal mines that were to make up Lambton Colliery.For much of the 20th century, "Bournmoor" was known as "Burnmoor", taking its name from the Moorsburn (an alternative name for Hutton Burn which runs through the village.) The local primary school is called Bournmoor Primary School, although the local scout group, formed early in the 20th century, still carries the name "Burnmoor" in its title. The mid-19th century Ordnance Survey map shows the old core of the village (the staff housing for the Lambton estate) as "Wapping", with the open country to the south of the Sunderland road and north west of Herrington Burn shown as "Bourn Moor" and the colliery complex which was later known as Lambton is shown as Bourn Moor Colliery. The end-19th century map shows the settlement as "Bournmoor". Maps produced after the development of the 'Flowers' estate, dated between 1920 and 1960 show both as "Burnmoor" but they reverted to "Bournmoor" in later maps.In 1913, the parish councils of "Bourn Moor" and "Morton Grange" complained to the Board of Trade about the poor facilities available to passengers at Fencehouses railway station.Sporting facilities in the village include cricket, football and tennis clubs situated near to the church.

Lambton is an area of Washington, Tyne and Wear, which is part of the City of Sunderland metropolitan borough in north east England. It lies about 2 miles (3 km) northeast of Chester-le-Street. It is historically part of County Durham. It is linked to the Lambton family, Lambton Castle and is the home of the Lambton Worm. New Lambton is located just a few miles from the Lambton estate.

Penshaw Bridge, also known as Fatfield Bridge, is a road traffic bridge spanning the River Wear in North East England, linking Penshaw with Fatfield. The bridge was opened on 29 January 1890.

Biddick Hall is a small privately owned 18th-century country mansion at Bournmoor, County Durham, near the City of Sunderland and Chester-le-Street. It is a Grade I listed building and the home of the Lambton family.
