Eglinton Park

Avenue is an underground light rail transit (LRT) station under construction on Line 5 Eglinton, a new line that is part of the Toronto subway system. The station is located in North Toronto on Eglinton Avenue between Avenue Road and Highbourne Road. It is the deepest underground station on the line. Destinations include the Chaplin Estates neighbourhood, Marshall McLuhan Catholic Secondary School, the Eglinton Theatre, and Eglinton Park. The station is scheduled to open in 2023.The main entrance to this underground station will be located on the northwest corner of Eglinton and Avenue Road; the second entrance will be located approximately 80 metres (260 ft) east on the north side of Eglinton. Retail spaces will be available at both entrances at street level. The station will have on-street connections to TTC buses and outdoor parking for 50 bicycles. There is a third centre track on the east side of the station between the eastbound and westbound tracks either to store a train or to allow a train to change direction due to an emergency or a change in service.Avenue station was one of four underground stations that was "mined" (built using the sequential excavation method) rather than being built using the cut-and-cover method like most of the other underground stations. Both the station platform and the centre-track structure are part of a single circular tube, and there are no support columns between the three tracks. Shops were demolished to construct the two station entrances.In a report to the TTC Board on November 23, 2015, it was recommended that stations on Line 5 Eglinton should be given unique names. Metrolinx initially proposed that the station be named "Avenue", for Avenue Road. Later, Metrolinx changed the proposed name to "Oriole Park". However, by January 2016, the proposed station name had been changed back to "Avenue" because "Oriole Park" was too similar to the name of another transit station within Toronto, namely Oriole GO Station on GO Transit's Richmond Hill line.

Marshall McLuhan Catholic Secondary School (Marshall McLuhan, MMCSS, Marshall McLuhan CSS, or McLuhan) is a coeducational, non-semestered, Catholic high school in midtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada managed by the Toronto Catholic District School Board. The school was formally founded in September 1998 to replace De La Salle College Oaklands campus, founded by the De La Salle Brothers in 1851, which was reverted as a private school in 1994. The school property was originally built for the Toronto Hunt Club and later used by the Canadian Armed Forces as the Canadian Forces Staff School until 1994. This school was named after Marshall McLuhan, a Canadian educator, philosopher, and scholar—a professor of English literature, a literary critic, a rhetorician, a communication theorist, and a committed Roman Catholic. McLuhan is located on Avenue Road north of Eglinton Avenue East and is accessible from Eglinton station. Its motto is "Faith is our medium".

St. Clement's Church, also known as St. Clement's, Eglinton, is an Anglican church located in the Yonge–Eglinton neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario. The parish was established in 1891. The present church building was erected in 1925 by architects Page & Warrington and Charles MacKay Willmot. A parish hall, designed by Molesworth & Secord, was added in 1938.In 1901, Canon Thomas Wesley Powell, Rector of St. Clement's, founded St. Clement's School. Classes were first offered in the parish hall but they later moved to their own purpose-built building down the street. Initially co-ed, the school today is all girls and remains affiliated with the church.

St. James-Bond United Church, at 1066 Avenue Road in Toronto, Ontario, was a United Church of Canada congregation from 1928 to 2005, when it merged with Fairlawn Heights United Church (now Fairlawn Avenue United Church) in the Yonge Street and Lawrence Avenue area. The "St. James-Bond" name derived from the merger of St. James Square Presbyterian Church with Bond Street Congregational Church in 1928. Prior to the merger, they were separate congregations downtown, of the Presbyterian and Congregational traditions respectively. The church building at 1066 Avenue Road was vacated on February 28, 2006. The building was torn down in the summer of 2006, and the site is now the Living Life on the Avenue Seniors Retirement Residence.The building had been used by Elections Canada for a polling place. In 2008, some voters were mistakenly told to vote at the demolished church, instead of at the new polling place at Marshall McLuhan Catholic Secondary School.

The Eglinton Theatre, (or Eglinton Grand) is an event venue and cinema in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In 2016, it was designated a National Historic Site by Parks Canada and the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada.Built in 1936, the Eglinton became one of the best examples of the Art Deco-style in Canadian theatre design. In 1937, architectural firm Kaplan & Sprachman was awarded the Royal Architecture Institute of Canada's Bronze Medal for their design of the theatre. From 1965 to 1967, the "Sound of Music" played for 146 weeks.It operated as a cinema for 67 years, until 2003, after which it was converted to an event venue.

Midtown is one of four central business districts outside the city's downtown core of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Yonge Eglinton Centre is a complex of two office buildings located on the northwest corner of Yonge and Eglinton in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, including a small shopping concourse. It is located across the street from Canada Square and, at time of construction, two of only a few large office towers found north of Bloor Street. It is connected via tunnel to Eglinton subway station. The complex is undergoing a refit that will see 7 floors added to the 2300 Yonge Street and 5 floors added to 20 Eglinton Avenue West, as well as re-cladding the towers with curtain wall glass.

The Battle of Montgomery's Tavern was an incident during the Upper Canada Rebellion in December 1837. The abortive revolutionary insurrection, inspired by William Lyon Mackenzie, was crushed by British authorities and Canadian volunteer units near John Montgomery's tavern on Yonge Street at Eglinton, north of Toronto. The site of Montgomery's Tavern was designated a National Historic Site in 1925 and a historical marker sits at the south-west corner of Yonge Street and Broadway Avenue.

St. Clement's School (SCS) is an Anglican independent school for girls in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The school was founded in 1901 by Canon Thomas Wesley Powell, Rector of St. Clement's Church, and was originally co-ed, but switched to being all-girls after the First World War. Students at SCS are often referred to as Clementines. In 2006, the school completed a new addition to the building which doubled the size of the school: the addition was funded by the Bigger Blazer Campaign. The renovation included a new gym, performance hall, library and many other improvements. The school is a member of the Round Square affiliation of schools, and it offers the most Advanced Placement courses of any girls' school in Canada.

The two main towers are examples of International Style. The complex's largest tenant is Canadian Tire, which has offices in all three buildings and its head office at 2180 Yonge Street.

Yonge–Eglinton is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at the intersection of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue. It is central to the area of Midtown Toronto, one of four central business districts outside Downtown Toronto. The City of Toronto defines its boundaries as Briar Hill Avenue to the north, Yonge Street to the east, Frobisher Avenue and a line in that direction west to Elmsthorpe Avenue, then north to Eglinton Avenue, east to Avenue Road and north to Briar Hill. According to a survey conducted in 2017 by Toronto Life, it was the highest-ranked neighbourhood in Greater Toronto in terms of housing, crime rate, transit, health, entertainment, people and employment. It is geographically central to the city of Toronto and surrounded by a number of the country's highly affluent neighbourhoods, including Forest Hill, Lytton Park and Lawrence Park.

Eglinton is a subway station on Line 1 Yonge–University of the Toronto subway. Located on Eglinton Avenue, it is central to the Yonge–Eglinton neighbourhood in Midtown Toronto. Eglinton station is the seventh busiest station of the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).Line 5 Eglinton will serve Eglinton station upon completion of the line, which is scheduled for 2023. Eglinton will then become an interchange station for the two lines.
