Preet Vihar is a posh residential colony and one of the 3 administrative subdivision of the East Delhi district in India.

The Swasthiya Vihar metro station is located on the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro. There's no parking facility by the metro station authority but passengers have the option to park their vehicles in the parking lot of the V3S mall, which is right next to the metro station. Like most of the other metro stations, there are four entry/exit gates here. Public amenities at Swasthiya Vihar metro station includes a Sulabh Complex (paid service). There are a number of outlets like Buddy's in the metro station premises. A couple of them are at the concourse level and one is at the entrance of gate number 2, which is near the entrance of V3S mall. Near the metro station, besides the V3S mall, there is PSK (Coffee Home), Scope Minar and several commercial office buildings. There's the famous Veer Savarkar Marg, also known as Mini Nehru Place, a technology hub. Moreover, there are showrooms of big clothing and jewelry brands. Just below the metro station is the Nirman Vihar Bus Stand, from where passengers can board buses for I.T.O, Khureji, Jheel, Pandav Nagar and other areas which are not connected to Delhi Metro.

The Preet Vihar metro station is located in Preet Vihar on the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro.

East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 7 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in the Indian National Capital Territory of Delhi. This constituency came into existence in 1966. It presently comprises 40 municipal wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi with approximately 16 lakh voters and a population of approx 25 lakhs.East Delhi is one of the larger and highly populated Lok Sabha constituencies not only in Delhi but all over India. The constituency covers areas east of the Yamuna and has a large population, including Seelampur, Shahdara, Gandhi Nagar and Preet Vihar. The current MP from here is Gautam Gambhir.

Bhai Parmanand Institute of Business Studies (BPIBS) is a government higher education institute located in New Delhi, India. It grants various postgraduate and undergraduate programmes, being affiliated to Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU). Krishna Nagar Assembly constituency is one of the seventy Delhi assembly constituencies of Delhi in northern India. Krishna Nagar assembly constituency is a part of East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. AAP's S.K.Bagga defeated BJP's CM candidate Kiran Bedi by 2277 votes in the 2015 assembly election.

Laxmi Nagar, is the central location and focal point for east Delhi area. Earlier, it was one of the most inhabited cities, known as Trans Yam una (Laksmi Nagar). It has become a popular shopping area for garments, and day to day staple items. Akshardham temple is around 3 km from Laxmi Nagar. Laxmi Nagar is popularly known for being the central location for the majority of Coaching centers associated with the Chartered Accountancy Course offered by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India , Cost and Management Accountant ( Institute of Cost Accountant of India) and also for the Company Secretary course offered by Institute of Company Secretaries of India. Abhay Verma from BJP is the current MLA (Member Of Legislative Assembly) from Laxmi Nagar.

The Karkarduma Court metro station is located on the Pink Line of the Delhi Metro. As part of Phase III of Delhi Metro, Karkarduma Court is the metro station of the Pink Line.

The Laxmi Nagar metro station is located on the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro and it was set open for public use on 6 January 2010.Earlier there was no parking facility near the station but now there is an authorized parking available nearby the station. It is one of the busiest stations of metro network as Laxmi Nagar itself is a home for numerous workers and students. Public amenities include a Sulabh complex while two others are being set up at road level on either sides. There is a Buddy's and a Hot'n' Chill outlet at the station that sells fast food, snacks and cold drinks. There are also two ATMs, one of Punjab National Bank(Located near ticket counter at concourse level) and other of HDFC bank (located at exit of concourse level) Counter no. 5 of the station was used additionally for sale of smart cards, it's also the main customer care of the station. But as the rush got heavier, one more counter for sale of smart card was set up at the exit gate (Opposite counter no. 5). The nearby locality of station has many coaching centre and book shops and is a hub for job aspirants. Moreover, there are a number of restaurants and few hotels nearby. Numerous retailers of electronic appliances and mobile phones are located within the radius of 1 km of the station.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) of India is a statutory organization under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (Mo.E.F.C.C.). It was established in 1974 under the Water (Prevention and Control of pollution) Act, 1974. The CPCB is also entrusted with the powers and functions under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. It serves as a field formation and also provides technical services to the Ministry of Environment and Forests under the provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. It coordinates the activities of the State Pollution Control Boards by providing technical assistance and guidance and also resolves disputes among them. It is the apex organization in country in the field of pollution control, as a technical wing of MoEFCC. The board is led by its chairperson appointed by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet of the Government of India. The current acting chairman is Amandeep Garg IAS (Jan 2025) and the Member Secretary is Bharat Kumar Sharma. CPCB has its head office in New Delhi, with nine regional directorates and 1 project office. The board conducts environmental assessments and research. It is responsible for maintaining national standards under a variety of environmental laws, in consultation with regional directorates, tribal, and local governments. It has responsibilities to conduct monitoring of water and air quality, and maintains monitoring data. The agency also works with industries and all levels of government in a wide variety of voluntary pollution prevention programs and energy conservation efforts. It advises the central government to prevent and control water and air pollution. It also advises the Governments of Union Territories on industrial and other sources of water and air pollution. CPCB along with its counterparts the State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) are responsible for implementation of legislation relating to prevention and control of environmental pollution. The board has approximately 500 full-time employees including engineers, scientists, and environmental protection specialists.

The Mumbai alcohol poisonings occurred in June 2015, when at least 102 people died after drinking contaminated alcohol in the Laxmi Nagar slum in Malad, located in Mumbai, India. Another 45 people were hospitalised as a result of the incident. The incident has been described as the worst of its kind in over a decade.
