Navalur is a south suburb of Chennai, India and located just 5 km from Sholinganalur junction along Old Mahabalipuram Road. Navalur is located between Sholinganallur and Kelambakkam and comes under Thiruporur taluk of Chengalpattu district. This area was once a village (around 2010) but with the advent of IT Companies and the rapid development of the Old Mahabalipuram Road (New Mount road of Chennai), it has become a bustling and most demanded location in Chennai. Proximity to employment opportunities, good asset appreciation, outstanding road Infrastructure, proximity to beaches at ECR and other entertainment venues continues to attract more residents to this suburb. The government is constructing Metro Train-Phase 2 along this route from Madhavaram to Siruseri IT park. Deadline to be operational for this Corridor-3 by 2024. Once Metro train is operational, it will be beneficial for overall development in OMR road.

It is developed in 782.51 acres (4 km2) of land by SIPCOT, the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu, a fully government-owned institution. Founded in June 1971, it is the largest IT park in Asia.

Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) is a higher education and research institute in Chennai, India. It was founded in 1989 by the SPIC Science Foundation, and offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in physics, mathematics and computer science. CMI is noted for its research in algebraic geometry, in particular in the area of moduli of bundles. CMI was at first located in T. Nagar in the heart of Chennai in an office complex. It was created in 1957 through bifurcation of Madras Lok Sabha constituency. It is one of the most populous parliamentary constituencies in South India. C. N. Annadurai, the first non-Congress chief minister of Tamil Nadu resigned his seat in 1967 after he was nominated for chief ministership. It was later contested and won by Murasoli Maran.
