Sausalito Ferry Terminal is a ferry terminal in Sausalito, California, connecting Marin County and San Francisco. The station is served by Golden Gate Ferry and Blue & Gold Fleet ferries as well as Golden Gate Transit and Marin Transit bus routes.

The Sausalito Yacht Club (SYC) in the city of Sausalito, California on San Francisco Bay was founded in 1942 to promote yachting, both racing and cruising.

The Trident is a restaurant in Sausalito, California, originally opened in 1966 as a bar-restaurant-music venue by the Kingston Trio, and noted for its psychedelic murals dating to the 1960s, and its ties to the music counterculture of that era. The modern version of the Tequila Sunrise cocktail was invented by Trident bartenders Bobby Lozoff and Billy Rice in the early 1970s. In 1972, at a private party at the Trident organized by Bill Graham to kick off the Rolling Stones' 1972 tour in America, Mick Jagger had one of the cocktails, liked it, and he and his entourage started drinking them. They later ordered them all across America, even dubbing the tour itself their "cocaine and tequila sunrise tour".During the summers of 1974, 1975 and 1976, Robin Williams worked as a dishwasher and busboy at The Trident.The Trident closed in 1980. Shortly thereafter, Horizons opened and became a popular tourist destination until 2012, when it resumed its Trident title. The current owners also operate the Buena Vista Cafe in San Francisco. The restaurant is located in the former 1898 home of the San Francisco Yacht Club.

Madden, Lewis or Madden and Lewis Company or Madden and Lewis Corp. was a wooden shipbuilding company in Sausalito, California. To support the World War 2 demand for ships Madden, Lewis shipyard switched over to military construction and built: US Navy tugboats and Harbour Defence Motor Launch. The company was founded by James Herbert Madden Sr., who was also active in the Sausalito Yacht Club. James Herbert Madden Sr. and Gertrude Murphy Madden raised five children in Sausalito. Madden and Lewis Company also owned the Sausalito side of the Golden Gate Ferry Company that ran before the completion of the Golden Gate Bridge, the ferry was run by the Northwestern Pacific Railroad now the site of the Sausalito Ferry Terminal. After the war the yard returned to pleasure craft building and repair. On March 19, 1960 a large fire broke out at the boatyard. The boatyard was in Richardson Bay at 200 Johnson street, Sausalito, near the current Sausalito Yacht Harbor.

The Sausalito Woman's Club, at 120 Central Avenue in Sausalito, Marin County, California, was built in 1918. It was designed by Bay Area architect Julia Morgan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.It is a Craftsman-style building, of irregular plan with 18 corners.Funds for the women's club to have a clubhouse were raised during 1913 to 1918.The building was declared Sausalito's Historical Landmark #1 in 1976. Many works big and small of the Woman's club are still visible today in Sausalito, such as the plaque on a tree from 1959 as seen in March 2023 (see picture).

Sausalito (Spanish for "small willow grove") is a city in Marin County, California, United States, located 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) southeast of Marin City, 8 miles (13 km) south-southeast of San Rafael, and about 4 miles (6 km) north of San Francisco from the Golden Gate Bridge.Sausalito's population was 7,269 as of the 2020 census. The community is situated near the northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge, and prior to the building of that bridge served as a terminus for rail, car, and ferry traffic. Sausalito developed rapidly as a shipbuilding center in World War II, with its industrial character giving way in postwar years to a reputation as a wealthy and artistic enclave, a picturesque residential community (incorporating large numbers of houseboats), and a tourist destination. The city is adjacent to, and largely bounded by, the protected spaces of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area as well as the San Francisco Bay.

Headlands Preparatory School, originally known as Tilden Preparatory School Marin, is a WASC-accredited alternative private school for grades 6 to 12 located in Sausalito, California. It has around 40 students enrolled as of 2024.

The Sausalito Library is a public library serving the City of Sausalito and environs in Marin County, California. The library opened in 1974 at its present location of 420 Litho Street in Sausalito (inside City Hall). The library collection consists of over 45,000 books. Services offered include programs for adults and children, internet access, online databases, downloadable e-books and e-audiobooks, museum passes, and assistance with downloading library e-books onto personal devices. The library is a member of the Marin Automated Resources and Information Network (MARINet), a consortium of publicly funded libraries in Marin County. Abbot Chambers is the current City Librarian following Mary Richardson's retirement in July 2011. Richardson had been the City Librarian of the Sausalito Library since 1985.

Schoonmaker Point is a low-lying landform jutting into San Francisco Bay at Sausalito, California. This area was created by dredge spoils from Richardson Bay during local Marin Shipyards shipbuilding activity during World War II. Schoonmaker Point is situated approximately 1.7 miles (2.7 km) south of the Sausalito/Marin City interchange of U.S. Highway 101 immediately north of Bridgeway Boulevard. The Schoonmaker Point Marina is located here, along with a 2.3-acre (9,300 m2) sand beach.. From Schoonmaker Point there are views of Mount Tamalpais and the San Francisco downtown skyline. Schoonmaker Point is a readily usable put-in point for kayaks accessing San Francisco Bay. Nearby is situated the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Bay Model, a scale model of the San Francisco Bay, capable of simulating the bay hydrology. A review of historic aerial photography applicable to Schoonmaker Point was conducted by Earth Metrics, evaluating three stereo photograph pairs; the photographs were flown in 1952, 1965, and 1974 by the U.S. Government and are archived by the U.S. Geological Survey. Analysis of the aerial photos showed that, in 1952, the size of Schoonmaker Point was smaller and the site vicinity on Schoonmaker Point was less developed. Schoonmaker Point Marina had not been constructed at this time, and the Bounty Building did not exist at this time. A small parcel to the immediate west of the Schoonmaker Point parking lot had three small structures on it. The buildings presently occupied by Interbay Lumber Hardware to the west of the subject site existed at this time. Clipper Yacht Harbor to the north of Schoonmaker Point had only two piers at this time. In 1965 the Schoonmaker Point peninsula had been extended to the north and east to its present size and Schoonmaker Point Marina has begun operations in this expanded area. Clipper Yacht Harbor has been expanded by several piers. All surface runoff and groundwater from Schoonmaker Point drain toward the northeast to San Francisco Bay.

Sausalito Shipbuilding in Sausalito, California, started in 1942 as the Oakland shipbuilding Corporation. The founders had hoped to start a new shipyard in Oakland, California, but a better site opened up next to the new Marinship shipyard in Sausalito, which built Liberty ships. The site was near the former Northwestern Pacific Railroad repair yard situated at Richardson's Bay in Marin County. With World War II underway, there was a demand for more vessels, Oakland and much of the San Francisco Bay was also already built up. The shoreline in Marin County had open space to build new shipyards. At the site, the new company built 4 shipways. It had no official name while it was being built but was referred to as the "Marin Shipbuilding Division of W.A. Bechtel Company" and that lengthy title was shortened to Marin-Ship or what known today as "Marinship" with a street in Sausalito named Marinship Way. Sausalito Shipbuilding received a US Army contract to build barges. Sausalito Shipbuilding was operated as a Co-operative, each worker having a share in the company. The president was D. F. Baker, who had worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Brooklyn Navy Yard and Bremerton Navy Yard. The vice president was R. E. Oberer. Tresurer was Ernent Collins. Office manager was E. G. Harris. The other key partner was Robert Rich and Stanley G. Morris. Stanley G. Morris sold his share to Rich in August 1945. The site was north end of Sausalito, California and just three miles (5 km) north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Ernent Collins was a yacht builder for years before joining the partnership. Robert Rich became the president of Sausalito Shipbuilding, later selling his share in the company and joining a dredging company that worked with Sausalito Shipbuilding. Robert Rich sold his shares to Gus Wandtke and Ernest Collins. In 1945 with the end of World War 2, like many shipyards, Sausalito Shipbuilding closed. There was a surplus of ships after the war. The site later became Sausalito houseboat community.For the war Sausalito Shipbuilding built US Army steel Barges: BC-157 to BC-168, the 12 Barges were a Design # 229 and are 110 feet in length. All 12 were delivered in 1942. BC-803 to BC-809, the 7 Barges were a Design # 267 and are 130 feet in length. All 12 were delivered in 1943. BG-1193 to BG-1198 the 6 Gasoline Tank Barges were a Design # 231 and are 120 feet in length. All 6 were delivered in 1943. BC-2115 to BC-2128, the 15 Barges were a Design # 267 and are 130 feet in length. All 15 were delivered in 1944 and 1945.

Marinship Corporation was a shipbuilding company of the United States during World War II, created to build the shipping required for the war effort. Founded in 1942, the shipyard built 93 cargo ships and oil tankers, before ending operations in 1945.

The Waldo Grade is a highway grade between the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin City along U.S. Route 101 and State Route 1. It is defined as the stretch of roadway between the Spencer Offramp and Marin City, within the city of Sausalito. This grade is traversed by a full freeway multi-lane highway facility. This portion of US 101/SR 1 is an important link in surface transportation connecting the city of San Francisco to Marin County and the North Bay. Nearby locations to the Waldo Grade include: the city of Sausalito, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Bay Model, The Marine Mammal Center and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It, and nearby Waldo Point along Richardson Bay between Sausalito and Mill Valley, is named after 1850s California politician William Waldo.
