Fen End Mill, West Walton

Emneth was a railway station, near Wisbech, which served the village of Emneth, Norfolk. The station was opened in 1848 as an extension of the East Anglian Railway's line from Magdalen Road station (now known as Watlington) to Wisbech East. In 1872 Elizabeth Pearce, twelve year-old daughter of a nearby crossing keeper, drowned in the 'Tea-water pit'. The station's location, like that of the neighbouring Middle Drove station, was fairly rural and the line eventually closed in 1968. In October 1942, a hoard of Roman silver coins together with fragments of an urn in which they were stored was found near the station. Emneth's station building survived closure, and has since been converted into a private residence.

It was created as an ecclesiastical parish in 1922, and as a civil parish in 1935, from parts of Clenchwarton, Emneth, Terrington St Clement, Terrington St John, Tilney All Saints, Tilney St Lawrence, Tilney cum Islington, Walpole St Andrew, Walpole St Peter, and West Walton. Walsoken is a settlement and civil parish in Norfolk, England, which is conjoined as a suburb at the northeast of the town of Wisbech, Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire. The parish of Walsoken in the 2001 census, had a population of 1,484 rising slightly to 1,489 at the 2011 census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. The council is Walsoken Parish Council.

Smeeth Road was a railway station serving the villages of Emneth Hungate, Marshland St James and St John Fen's End, all east of Wisbech in Norfolk, England. The old 'Signal Box' which sat adjacent to the station remained intact until it was dismantled in 2005 and replaced with a 3 bedroom 'Eco' home. The new Signal Box retains some original features and designs of the old one with a traditional/modern look. The old platform to the station which is largely intact marks the boundary line between both the station and the signal box. The old goods shed which sat behind the station was converted into 6 flats (St James Court). This also retains some of the original features including part of the original platform.

Marshland Rural District was a rural district in Norfolk, England from 1894 to 1974.It was formed under the Local Government Act 1894 based on the Marshland rural sanitary district, and was named after the Freebridge Marshland hundred. It covered an area to the west of King's Lynn on the borders of Lincolnshire and the Isle of Ely. In 1930 a new parish of Nordelph was created in Downham RD, taking land mostly out of the Marshland RD parishes of Upwell and Outwell.During the period 1933-1935 it absorbed most of the area of the disbanded Walsoken Urban District, with other minor boundary changes.In 1974, the district was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972, and became part of the West Norfolk district.
