Cobham Woods

The Darnley Mausoleum, or Cobham Mausoleum as it is often now referred to, is a Grade I Listed building, now owned by the National Trust and situated in Cobham Woods, Kent (OS grid ref: TQ694684). It was designed by James Wyatt for the 4th Earl of Darnley of Cobham Hall according to detailed instructions in the will of the 3rd Earl of Darnley. It was never used for interments. The woodland is part of the parkland laid out by Humphry Repton, and is 1.6 km from the North Downs Way.

Great Crabbles Wood is a 33-hectare (82-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-west of Rochester in Kent.Most of the wood is mixed coppice, with sweet chestnut dominant and oak standards. There are scarce flora such as lady and man and bird's nest orchids, white helleborine and wild liquorice.The wood is crossed by footpaths.

Upper Bush is a hamlet in the parish of Cuxton, in the unitary authority of Medway, in Kent, England. The hamlet has only a few houses, including two Grade II listed buildings; Barrow Hill House and High Birch The North Downs Way long-distance path leads through the village, between Cuxton and Upper Halling.

It is served by the A228, and Cuxton railway station on the Medway Valley Line between Strood and Maidstone. A low valley leads up from the river to the hamlet of Lower Bush.

Cobham Hall School is a private day and boarding school in the English parish of Cobham, Kent, for girls only in Years 7 to 11 and co-educational in the Sixth Form . It is a Round Square school and a member of the Girls' Schools Association. The school is housed in Cobham Hall, a Tudor era Grade I listed manor house situated in 150 acres of historic parkland on the edge of the Kent Downs. The school featured in the film Wild Child in 2008, as the fictional school that the characters attended, called Abbey Mount.On 23 February 2021 it was announced that the school would become part of the Mill Hill School Foundation.

Cobham Hall is an English country house in the county of Kent, England. The grade I listed building is one of the largest and most important houses in Kent, re-built as an Elizabethan prodigy house by William Brooke, 10th Baron Cobham (1527–1597). The central block was rebuilt 1672–82 by Charles Stewart, 3rd Duke of Richmond, 6th Duke of Lennox (1639–1672). Today the building houses Cobham Hall School, a private boarding school for girls, established there in 1962, which retains 150 acres (60 ha) of the ancient estate.The historic dairy, designed by the architect James Wyatt as an eyecatcher, was restored by the Landmark Trust [1] and opened as a holiday destination in 2019.

Cobham Park near Cobham, Kent and located within the grounds of the Cobham Hall estate, was used a cricket ground. It was used as the venue for a single first-class cricket match between a team representing Kent and a Hampshire side.The ground was used for cricket matches by Cobham Cricket Club between the 1850s and 1870s, including a number of matches against the Royal Engineers Cricket Club. The Hall was owned by the Earls of Darnley and a number of the family were keen cricketers. Ivo Bligh, who became the 8th Earl in 1900, captained the first English tour of Australia in 1882–83, recapturing The Ashes.The hall was last used for cricket in 1951.

Shorne is a village and civil parish in the borough of Gravesham in Kent, England. The parish lies 3 miles (4.8 km) east of Gravesend. Most of the land is well-drained but its marshes, the Shorne Marshes reach down to the Thames Estuary and are an SSSI amid the North Kent Marshes on the Hoo Peninsula proper.

Shorne Woods Country Park is located between Strood and Gravesend, in the English county of Kent. It was once part of a large estate, later passed to the county council to be used as a country park.

Gads Hill Place in Higham, Kent, sometimes spelt Gadshill Place and Gad's Hill Place, was the country home of Charles Dickens, the most successful British author of the Victorian era. Today the building is the independent Gad's Hill School. The house was built in 1780 for a former Mayor of Rochester, Thomas Stephens, opposite the present Sir John Falstaff Public House. Gad's Hill is where Falstaff commits the robbery that begins Shakespeare's Henriad trilogy (Henry IV, Part 1, Henry IV, Part 2 and Henry V).

Gad's Hill School in Higham, Kent, England, is an independent school for day pupils, founded in 1924. It is set in the former Gads Hill Place, the country home of Charles Dickens.
