Halvergate Windmill

Freethorpe is a village and civil parish in the English of Norfolk. The village is located 7.2 miles (11.6 km) south-west of Great Yarmouth and 11 miles (18 km) south-east of Great Yarmouth, located within the Norfolk Broads.

Halvergate is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, north of Reedham, between the Rivers Bure and Yare, within The Broads. To the east of the village is the hamlet of Wickhampton and the Halvergate Marshes, an area of drainage marsh which was the site of the first Environmentally Sensitive Area in the United Kingdom in 1987.The villages name origin is uncertain possibly, 'land costing half a heriot'. The parish covers an area of 24.65 km2 (9.52 sq mi) and had a population of 468 in 202 households at the 2001 census, increasing to a population of 607 in 243 households at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of Broadland. The civil parish includes the village of Tunstall. The long distance footpath named the Weavers' Way passes through Halvergate, and this provides one of the few modes of access to Berney Arms. The village has a cricket team that plays in the East Anglian Premier League.

Tunstall is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Halvergate, in the Broadland district of Norfolk, England. It lies some 14 miles (22.5 km) south-east of Norwich alongside the River Bure. In 1931 the parish had a population of 94. The ruinous mediaeval parish church of St Peter and St Paul is a grade II* listed building. Although repaired 1705 and extended in 1853, only the chancel is now usable. According to local legend, the church's bells were stolen by the Devil. He plunged with them into a nearby boggy pool, whence their tolling can occasionally be heard.The Stracey Arms Windpump was once used to drain the surrounding marshland into the River Bure. A grade II* listed building, it is now maintained by the Norfolk Windmills Trust and is a visitor attraction.

St Mary's Church is a redundant Anglican round-tower church near the village of Moulton St Mary, Norfolk, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. It stands some 4 kilometres (2 mi) to the south of Acle in an isolated position adjacent to a farm.

Southwood is a hamlet and former civil parish, 10 miles (16 km) east of Norwich, now in the parish of Cantley, Limpenhoe and Southwood, in the Broadland district, in the county of Norfolk, England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 40. It has a church called St Edmund which is in ruins. Southwood Hall is a post medieval great house and serves as a wedding venue.

Decoy Carr, Acle is a 56-hectare (140-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Acle in Norfolk. It is part of the Broadland Ramsar site and Special Protection Area, and The Broads Special Area of Conservation.This area of wet carr woodland, fen, reedbeds and open water, is spring fed. It has a number of rare Arctic–alpine mosses, such as Cinclidium stygium and Camptothecium nitens, which indicate only minor disturbance since the end of the last ice age. There is a network of dykes which have clear spring water and a variety of water plants.The site is private land with no public access.

The Wherry Lines are railway branch lines in the East of England, linking Norwich with Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. There are 14 stations on the lines, including the three termini. They form part of Network Rail Strategic Route 7, SRS 07.11 and are classified as a rural line. The lines pass through the Broads of Norfolk and Suffolk. The name is taken from the Norfolk wherries, which played an important role in the transport of goods and people around the Broads before road and rail transport became widespread. Passenger services on the Wherry Lines are currently operated by Greater Anglia.

Damgate Marshes, Acle is a 64.7-hectare (160-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Norwich and Great Yarmouth in Norfolk. It is part of the Broadland Ramsar site and The Broads Special Area of Conservation.These traditionally managed grazing marshes and dykes are a nationally important wetland site. Their ecological significance lies mainly in the dykes, which have several uncommon water plants and a great diversity of aquatic invertebrates.The Weavers Way footpath goes through the site.

Reedham railway station is on the Wherry Lines in the East of England, serving the village of Reedham, Norfolk. It is 12 miles 13 chains (19.6 km) down the line from Norwich and is situated between Cantley to the west and, to the east, Berney Arms on the Great Yarmouth branch or Haddiscoe on the Lowestoft branch. It is commonly suffixed as Reedham (Norfolk) in order to distinguish it from the station of the same name in south London. Its three-letter station code is REE. The station is currently managed by Greater Anglia, which also operates all trains serving the station. The majority of services run between Norwich and Lowestoft, but three trains per day run to and from Great Yarmouth via the remote Berney Arms station. Services are operated by the brand new Stadler FLIRT Class 755 bi-mode multiple units, which entered service on the Wherry Lines in autumn 2019.

Blofield and East and West Flegg Rural Districts were adjacent rural districts in Norfolk, England from 1894 to 1935.They were formed under the Local Government Act 1894 based on rural sanitary districts of the same names, and lay between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. East and West Flegg RD included a detached portion, itself an outlying part of Runham parish. In 1935 the two districts, with very minor changes around Great Yarmouth, were merged to form Blofield and Flegg Rural District. Subsequently, changes to the border with Norwich County Borough were made in 1951. In 1974, the merged district was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972, and became mainly part of the Broadland district, with a small part being added to the Borough of Great Yarmouth.

Limpenhoe is a village and former civil parish, now in the Cantley, Limpenhoe and Southwood, in the Broadland district, in the county of Norfolk, England. It is located on the north bank of the River Yare, between the villages of Cantley and Reedham, 8.2 miles (13.2 km) south-west of Great Yarmouth and 10.8 miles (17.4 km) south-east of Norwich. In 1931 the parish had a population of 156.Limpenhoe is home to Limpenhoe Meadows, a site of Special Scientific Interest and the church of St Boltolph, a village hall and a private fishing lake. According to the local legend of Callow Pit, the handle on the door of St Boltolphs church was originally from a treasure chest guarded by the devil in a nearby bog. The village sign was designed by local artist Sue McNeil and was erected in 2012.Situated within the marshes of Limpenhoe is a drainage mill first commissioned by William Thorold in 1831, however it requires extensive restoration.

Mutton's Mill (also known as Manor House Mill) is a windpump located on the Halvergate Marshes in the detached parish of Freethorpe within The Broads in the English county of Norfolk. The mill is a Grade II* listed building and is 1 mile (1.6 km) east of the village of Halvergate and 2 miles (3.2 km) north-west of Berney Arms. It lies close to the route of the Weavers' Way long-distance footpath.
