Halvergate

Tunstall is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Halvergate, in the Broadland district of Norfolk, England. It lies some 14 miles (22.5 km) south-east of Norwich alongside the River Bure. In 1931 the parish had a population of 94. The ruinous mediaeval parish church of St Peter and St Paul is a grade II* listed building. Although repaired 1705 and extended in 1853, only the chancel is now usable. According to local legend, the church's bells were stolen by the Devil. He plunged with them into a nearby boggy pool, whence their tolling can occasionally be heard.The Stracey Arms Windpump was once used to drain the surrounding marshland into the River Bure. A grade II* listed building, it is now maintained by the Norfolk Windmills Trust and is a visitor attraction.

Mutton's Mill (also known as Manor House Mill) is a windpump located on the Halvergate Marshes in the detached parish of Freethorpe within The Broads in the English county of Norfolk. The mill is a Grade II* listed building and is 1 mile (1.6 km) east of the village of Halvergate and 2 miles (3.2 km) north-west of Berney Arms. It lies close to the route of the Weavers' Way long-distance footpath.

Freethorpe is a village and civil parish in the English of Norfolk. The village is located 7.2 miles (11.6 km) south-west of Great Yarmouth and 11 miles (18 km) south-east of Great Yarmouth, located within the Norfolk Broads.

Damgate Marshes, Acle is a 64.7-hectare (160-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Norwich and Great Yarmouth in Norfolk. It is part of the Broadland Ramsar site and The Broads Special Area of Conservation.These traditionally managed grazing marshes and dykes are a nationally important wetland site. Their ecological significance lies mainly in the dykes, which have several uncommon water plants and a great diversity of aquatic invertebrates.The Weavers Way footpath goes through the site.

Stracey Arms Windpump is a windpump located at Tunstall in the civil parish of Halvergate, Norfolk, England. It is a grade II* listed building. It takes its name from a nearby public house formerly called the Stracey Arms, after the local Stracey family.It is a four-storey drainage mill with a tapering red brick tower and a boat shaped weatherboarded cap. The cap, cap gallery, sails, fan and tail pole are all in place. The internal machinery is in working order and drives a turbine pump. The pump was used to drain the surrounding marshland into a channel leading to the River Bure, but was superseded by an electric pump installed in an adjacent building. The mill was built in 1883 by Robert Barnes of Great Yarmouth and was extensively modified in 1912. During the Second World War it was converted into a fortified pillbox with gun ports in the sides. It was taken out of service in 1946. From 1961 the mill was restored to working order by the Norfolk Windmills Trust, and now contains a photographic display of the history of Broads drainage mills. It is open to the public during the Spring and Summer.

St Mary's Church is a redundant Anglican round-tower church near the village of Moulton St Mary, Norfolk, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. It stands some 4 kilometres (2 mi) to the south of Acle in an isolated position adjacent to a farm.

Decoy Carr, Acle is a 56-hectare (140-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Acle in Norfolk. It is part of the Broadland Ramsar site and Special Protection Area, and The Broads Special Area of Conservation.This area of wet carr woodland, fen, reedbeds and open water, is spring fed. It has a number of rare Arctic–alpine mosses, such as Cinclidium stygium and Camptothecium nitens, which indicate only minor disturbance since the end of the last ice age. There is a network of dykes which have clear spring water and a variety of water plants.The site is private land with no public access.

Stokesby with Herringby is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It comprises the village of Stokesby and the surrounding rural area. It is situated on the banks of the River Bure, some 10 km west of the town of Great Yarmouth and 25 km east of the city of Norwich.The civil parish has an area of 8.61 km² and in the 2001 census had a population of 293 in 116 households, the population increasing to 330 at the 2011 census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of Great Yarmouth.

Blofield and East and West Flegg Rural Districts were adjacent rural districts in Norfolk, England from 1894 to 1935.They were formed under the Local Government Act 1894 based on rural sanitary districts of the same names, and lay between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. East and West Flegg RD included a detached portion, itself an outlying part of Runham parish. In 1935 the two districts, with very minor changes around Great Yarmouth, were merged to form Blofield and Flegg Rural District. Subsequently, changes to the border with Norwich County Borough were made in 1951. In 1974, the merged district was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972, and became mainly part of the Broadland district, with a small part being added to the Borough of Great Yarmouth.

Acle ( AY-kəl) is a market town on the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads in Norfolk, located halfway between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. It has the only bridge across the River Bure between Wroxham and Great Yarmouth.The civil parish has an area of 9.46 km2 (3.65 sq mi) and in 2001 had a population of 2,732 in 1,214 households, increasing to a population of 2,824 in 1,285 households at the Census 2011. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the area of the district of Broadland.The name "Acle" means "oaks lea", that is, a clearing in an oak forest. In Tudor times, hundreds of oaks were felled here for timber to construct Elizabeth I's warships.

The Halvergate Marshes are an area of grazing marsh in the east of the English county of Norfolk. They form part of the area of The Broads and lie between the River Bure and the River Yare, bordering Breydon Water on the east. The marshes cover an area of around 2,642 hectares (26.42 km2; 10.20 sq mi) An area of 1,432.7-hectare (3,540-acre) is a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest. Some areas are also in the Breydon Water Local Nature Reserve, the Broadland and Breydon Water Ramsar sites, The Broads Special Area of Conservation, and The Broads and Breydon Water Special Protection Areas.

Southwood is a hamlet and former civil parish, 10 miles (16 km) east of Norwich, now in the parish of Cantley, Limpenhoe and Southwood, in the Broadland district, in the county of Norfolk, England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 40. It has a church called St Edmund which is in ruins. Southwood Hall is a post medieval great house and serves as a wedding venue.
