Thelliyar Agaram or Thelliyaragaram is a revenue village in the Kundrathur taluk of Kancheepuram district, India and a suburb of Chennai city. Thelliyar Agaram stretches along the northern banks of the Porur Lake from Karambakkam in the east to Iyyappanthangal in the west and administratively forms part of the Mangadu municipality of Kanchipuram district. It is a part of the Chennai metropolitan area and situated about 20 kilometres (12 miles) from the Chennai Central railway station. The Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research was established in Thelliyar Agaram in 1985 and Dr. M. S. Swaminathan Wetland Eco Park in 2025. While in use for administrative purposes, the name "Thelliyar Agaram" is not popular in common usage. Thelliyar Agaram is served by the Thelliyaragaram metro station and the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research bus stop at the college entrance is an important boarding point for commuters to Chennai city

With over 1,500 beds, 114 ICU beds, 25 operating rooms, and a campus spread over 175 acres (71 ha), SRMC is one of the largest private health care facilities in South Asia. Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER), formerly Sri Ramachandra University (SRU), formerly Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (SRMC & RI), is a private institute located in Porur, Chennai, India. SRIHER consists of nine constituent colleges and faculties with more than 6000 students. SRIHER was founded by Sri Ramachandra Education & Health Trust on September 11, 1985 by N. P. V. Ramasamy Udayar. It was founded as a medical college, and was awarded the deemed to be university status in September 1994.

This station initially named after Ramachandra Hospital nearby, was changed to Thelliyaragaram metro station. It is slated to be commercialized on December 2025.

Porur Lake is located on the fringes of Porur in south-west Chennai and is a primary water resource for people residing in Chennai. It is a temporary catchment area connected with Chembarambakkam Lake. It is spread over 200 acres with a capacity of 46 million cubic feet (mcft). There are four filters working 24x7 to pump water to K. K. Nagar double tank distribution point. Bathing, washing and/or swimming is currently prohibited in this lake from 1995. A better view of the lake can be appreciated from the Chennai bypass.In 2012, the Water Resources Department initiated a project to increase the capacity the tank along with two other lakes in the city at a cost of ₹ 130 crore. This would deepen the lake by at least 1 m and increases the capacity to 70 mcft.

Iyyappanthangal is a western neighborhood of Chennai, Tamilnadu, India. It comes under Mangadu Municipality of Chennai Metropolitan Area (CMA), governed by CMDA. It is located 20 kilometres (12 mi) away from Fort St George on the Mount-Poonamallee Road. The nearest railway stations are at Guindy (Chennai South Line) about 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) away and Avadi (Chennai West Line) about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) away. The Porur Junction where a much needed road overbridge on the busy Guindy–Poonamallee stretch was built after a very long delay of nearly five years is just about 2 km from Iyyapanthangal and the Poonamallee Junction is just about 6 km from the town.

Porur Ramanatheswarar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva, located in the neighbourhood of Porur in Chennai, India. The temple was built in the 8th century CE during the Chola period. The temple is one of the nine Navagraha temples of the Tondai Mandalam and is known as the Guru sthala (lit. place of Guru or Brihaspati).
