Iyyapanthangal metro station

Iyyappanthangal is a western neighborhood of Chennai, Tamilnadu, India. It comes under Mangadu Municipality of Chennai Metropolitan Area (CMA), governed by CMDA. It is located 20 kilometres (12 mi) away from Fort St George on the Mount-Poonamallee Road. The nearest railway stations are at Guindy (Chennai South Line) about 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) away and Avadi (Chennai West Line) about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) away. The Porur Junction where a much needed road overbridge on the busy Guindy–Poonamallee stretch was built after a very long delay of nearly five years is just about 2 km from Iyyapanthangal and the Poonamallee Junction is just about 6 km from the town.

Thelliyaragaram is an upcoming elevated metro station on the East-West Corridor of the Yellow Line of Chennai Metro in Chennai, India. This metro station will be among the 30 stations of Corridor IV and 12 underground stations along Corridor IV of the Chennai Metro, Poonamallee Bypass–Lighthouse stretch. This station initially named after Ramachandra Hospital nearby, was changed to Thelliyaragaram metro station. It is slated to be commercialized on December 2025.

Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER), formerly Sri Ramachandra University (SRU), formerly Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (SRMC & RI), is a private institute located in Porur, Chennai, India. Porur Lake is located on the fringes of Porur in south-west Chennai and is a primary water resource for people residing in Chennai. It is a temporary catchment area connected with Chembarambakkam Lake. It is spread over 200 acres with a capacity of 46 million cubic feet (mcft). There are four filters working 24x7 to pump water to K. K. Nagar double tank distribution point. Bathing, washing and/or swimming is currently prohibited in this lake from 1995. A better view of the lake can be appreciated from the Chennai bypass.In 2012, the Water Resources Department initiated a project to increase the capacity the tank along with two other lakes in the city at a cost of ₹ 130 crore. This would deepen the lake by at least 1 m and increases the capacity to 70 mcft.

On 28 June 2014, an eleven-storey apartment block collapsed while under construction at Moulivakkam in the suburb of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The cause was determined to be a lightning strike to exposed metal at the top, which was conducted through the building and to ground via reinforcement bars embedded in the concrete, which led to failure of support columns and subsequent collapse of the structure. The collapse killed 61 people, mostly construction workers who were trapped in the debris.

Porur houses Mono-pulse Secondary Surveillance radar, one of the two radars in the city, which aids air-transport communication.
