WJZP-LP (107.9 FM) is a low-power broadcast radio station in Portland, Maine, United States. The station broadcasts a community-based jazz, classic soul and urban gospel format. The station has been on the air since 2005. The station plays jazz and classic R&B in the afternoon, and uptempo and dance tracks in the evening.Dennis Ross, the founder, owner, and operator of WJZP, stated that Portland civil rights leader Gerald Talbot was his inspiration for founding a minority-owned radio station. In 2007, he spoke out at the Federal Communications Commission hearing on media ownership issues in Portland.

The Griffin House is a historic house at 200 High Street in Portland, Maine. Built in 1871, it is one of the city's finer examples of Second Empire architecture, and was an early example of the trend to build further away from the city's port district. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Baxter Building is an historic building located at 619 Congress Street in downtown Portland, Maine. Completed in 1888, it served as the Portland Public Library from its founding until 1978, when the Library moved to another location on Congress Street. The building went unused from 1978 to 1983, when it was purchased by the Maine College of Art (MECA). MECA utilized the space for studio space, dark rooms, as a computer lab and library. In 2010, MECA sold the building to Northland Enterprises LLC, which then leased it to the VIA Group.The building was designed by local architect Francis H. Fassett. It was built in the Romanesque Revival style which was prominent during the mid-19th century. It was updated in 1928 by Portland architect John Calvin Stevens. In February 2010, the building was renovated based on designs from local firms Scott Simons Architects and Archetype Architects, which was partially funded through a $272,000 tax break from the City Council as well as through federal historical tax credits.

The Hay Building (also known as the Charles Q. Clapp Building) is an historic commercial building on Congress Square in downtown Portland, Maine. It occupies a prominent triangular site at the junction of Congress, High and Free Streets. Built in 1826 to a design by prominent local architect and merchant Charles Q. Clapp, it is one of the oldest commercial buildings in Portland.

The Portland Main Post Office is located at 125 Forest Avenue in the Parkside neighborhood of Portland, Maine. The building in which it is located, now shared with other businesses, was built in 1932 to a design by noted Maine architects John Calvin Stevens and John Howard Stevens and enlarged in 1967. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 for its Colonial Revival architecture.

High Street is a downtown street in Portland, Maine, United States. It runs one-way for around 0.81 miles (1.30 km), from Commercial Street in the southeast to Forest Avenue in the northwest. It is one of the three main routes crossing the Portland peninsula in this direction, the other two being State Street and Franklin Street. Part of the street passes through the Spring Street Historic District and the city's Arts District. High Street and State Street were converted from two-way traffic in 1972.

The Lafayette Hotel now Lafayette Apartments is an historic building in Portland, Maine, United States. Completed in 1903, the building was designed to be a luxury hotel and many of Maine's political and economic elites maintained year-round residences in the hotel. In the 1960s, the building was converted to an apartment building.It is located at 638 Congress Street, at the intersection of Park Avenue in the West End. It was built where Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, stayed during his visit to the city in 1825. It was designed by architects Francis H. Fassett and his son, Edward F. Fassett and opened in June 1903. It was considered to be fireproof upon opening. The original proprietor was James Cunningham. It was notable for its Mayfair Ballroom and French motifs. The hotel advertised its adherence to the American Plan, which indicated the company's unwillingness to recognize or negotiate with trade unions.As of 2023, Sagamore Hill Lounge occupies part of the first floor.

The Asa Hanson Block is a historic commercial building at 548-550 Congress Street in Downtown Portland, Maine. It was built in 1889 to a design by local architect Francis Fassett in partnership with Frederick A. Tompson, and is one of a small number of surviving commercial designs by Fassett in the city. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

The J.B. Brown Memorial Block is a historic commercial building at Congress and Casco Streets in downtown Portland, Maine. Built in 1883 to a design by John Calvin Stevens, it is one of the city's few examples of Queen Anne Victorian commercial architecture. It is named in honor of John Bundy Brown, founder in 1855 of the Portland Sugar Company. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The Charles Shipman Payson Building is the most recent expansion of the Portland Museum of Art (PMA) in Portland, Maine, located on the corner of High Street and Congress Square. Henry N. Cobb (of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners) designed the Payson Building, which introduced over five times more gallery space than in the adjacent, historic PMA buildings (McLellan-Sweat House, Charles Quincy Clapp House, and L. D. M. Sweat Memorial Galleries). The building opened in 1983, after Mr. Payson donated 17 Winslow Homer paintings and ten million dollars to the museum. Similar in theme to these Homer paintings, the Payson building contains a collection of contemporary paintings and short-term exhibitions created by Maine artists, focusing on regional themes.
