Sem, Norway

Sem is a former municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The 102-square-kilometre (39 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1988. The area is now part of Tønsberg Municipality. The administrative centre was the village of Semsbyen. Other villages in Sem included Barkåker, Eik, Husvik, Husøy, Ringshaug, and Tolvsrød.

Jarlsberg Travbane is a harness racing track located in Tønsberg, Norway. The course is 1,000 meters (3,300 ft). Owned by Norwegian Trotting Association, its tote betting is handled by Norsk Rikstoto. The venue opened in 1935.

Vear is a village in Vestfold, Norway, located in the municipality of Tønsberg. It had a population of 3,520 in 2005. Vear lies near the border between Stokke (Sandefjord) and Tønsberg. It lies along Norwegian County Road 303 between Sandefjord and Tønsberg. It has a total area, including land- and water, of 3.55 km2. It is located 6 km south of Tønsberg, and 20 km north of Sandefjord city centre. The combined populations of Vear, Hognes, Bjelland, and Smørberg is 3,800 people as of 2015.Although Stokke municipality decided to merge into Sandefjord on January 1, 2017, Vear residents decided to leave Stokke in order to merge into neighboring Tønsberg. Turnout for the ballot was big with 72.9 percent of eligible voters. 63.8 percent of Vear residents decided to transfer to Tønsberg, while 34.1 percent preferred to follow Stokke into Sandefjord municipality. Vear is home to 2,500 residents, which made up 22 percent of Stokke's total population prior to the merge.The village was for long straddling the Tønsberg-Stokke border, and certain parts of town were located in Tønsberg rather than in Stokke. Stokke established an elementary- and middle school at Vear in 1974, while Tønsberg established an elementary school at Hogsnes fifteen years later, less than 900 meters from the previous school. Vear and neighboring Hogsnes have grown together and make up one residential community.

Tønsberg Airport, Jarlsberg (Norwegian: Tønsberg flyplass, Jarlsberg; ICAO: ENJB) is a general aviation airport located at Sem in Tønsberg, Norway. It consists of a 799-by-18-meter (2,621 by 59 ft) asphalted runway and a 900-meter (3,000 ft) taxiway. Jarlsberg is used for a variety of activities, including glider pilots, light and microlight aircraft, radio-controlled aircraft, parachuting and the annual air show Wings & Wheels. The airport is owned by Thor Solberg Aviation and operated by Jarlsberg Luftsportssenter. The airport opened in 1937 and was taken over by the Luftwaffe in 1940. It was at first used as a dummy airfield, but from 1944 the Luftwaffe carried out upgrades. These were not finished by the end of Second World War. Jarlsberg was from 1947 to 1959 used by the Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNoAF), although the functions were eventually taken over by the nearby Sandefjord Airport, Torp. Braathens SAFE operated scheduled services from 1952 to 1959, and later also Thor Solberg and Fred. Olsen Airtransport also operated scheduled services. Activity has been limited to various general aviation activities since the late 1960s.

The Olsen Nauen Bell Foundry (Norwegian: Olsen Nauen Klokkestøperi) is a Norwegian bell foundry located in the municipality of Tønsberg. The foundry was established in 1844 by Ole Olsen, and it is headed today by the sixth generation of the Olsen Nauen family. The company is based at the Nauen farm in Sem and is Norway's only bell foundry.The Olsen Nauen Bell Foundry produces glockenspiels, church bells, ship's bells, farm bells, and other products from bell metal, which is a specific alloy of copper and tin. The company has supplied bells to most Norwegian churches. Part of its production is exported, some to mission churches and also to other clients. Examples of carillons cast by Olsen Nauen include the ones in Oslo City Hall, Oslo Cathedral, Sem Town Hall in Tønsberg, and Trinity Church in Arendal. The company has also produced a 52-bell travelling carillon, which is the world's largest.The Nauen farm also has a small museum with a display of old and new bells. Among other items, it includes the old bell from Fon Church.The current head of the company is Morten Olsen-Nauen. In 2007, his father Ole Christian Olsen Nauen was awarded the King's Medal of Merit in gold for his activity.

Jarlsberg Manor (Norwegian: Jarlsberg Hovedgård) is a manor three kilometres northwest of the centre of the town of Tønsberg in Vestfold og Telemark, Norway. It has traditionally been the residence of members of the Wedel-Jarlsberg family and the Count and Countess of Jarlsberg.

Stokke is a village in Sandefjord Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The village is located about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the northeast of the city of Sandefjord and about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the southwest of the city of Tønsberg. The village of Melsomvik and the Tønsbergfjorden lie about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the east of Stokke.The 2.31-square-kilometre (570-acre) village has a population (2022) of 4,221 and a population density of 1,827 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,730/sq mi).Stokke was the administrative centre of the old Stokke Municipality which existed from 1838 until its dissolution on 1 January 2017.The European route E18 highway passes 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the northwest of the village. The Vestfoldbanen railway line passes through the village, stopping at the Stokke Station. Stokke Church is located in the village. The village is the site of the Bokemoa elementary school and Stokke secondary school. The Gjennestad upper secondary school lies just a short distance north of the village.

Stokke Church (Norwegian: Stokke kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Sandefjord Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. It is located in the village of Stokke. It is the church for the Stokke parish which is part of the Sandefjord prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Tunsberg. The brown brick church was built in a long church design in 1886 using plans drawn up by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The church seats about 550 people.

Skjee Church (Norwegian: Skjee kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Sandefjord Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. It is located in the village of Skjee. It is the church for the Skjee parish which is part of the Sandefjord prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Tunsberg. The white, stone church was built in a long church design around the year 1200 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 320 people.

Stokke Station (Norwegian: Stokke stasjon) is a railway station on the Vestfold Line in Stokke, Norway. The station is served with regional trains operated by Vy. The station was built as part of the Vestfold Line in 1881.
