Wyton, East Riding of Yorkshire

Thirtleby is a hamlet in the civil parish of Coniston, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) north-east of Hull city centre and 1 mile (1.6 km) west of the village of Sproatley. Thirtleby was formerly a township in the parish of Swine, in 1866 Thirtleby became a separate civil parish, on 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished and merged with Coniston. In 1931 the parish had a population of 55.

Bilton (or Bilton-in-Holderness) is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 5 miles (8 km) east of Hull city centre on the B1238 road and adjoining the village of Wyton. According to the 2011 UK census, Bilton parish had a population of 2,220, a decrease on the 2001 UK census figure of 2,340.The civil parish of Bilton consists of the villages of Bilton, Ganstead and Wyton. St Peter's Church is a Grade II listed building that was designed by G. T. Andrews and built in 1851.Bilton Community Primary School is situated in Bilton and provides primary education for about 300 pupils from the village and the surrounding area. A 131-acre (53 ha) site is to be used to construct the biggest solar farm in the UK since 2016. The farm is to be built by Gridserve on behalf of Warrington Borough Council.

Sproatley is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 7 miles (11 km) north-east of Hull city centre and 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Hedon at the junction of the B1238 and B1240 roads. The village church, dedicated to St. Swithin, is said to contain a small chamber organ built by 'Father' Smith in the late 17th, early 18th century. The church was designated a Grade II listed building in 1987. According to the 2011 UK census, Sproatley parish had a population of 1,350, a decrease on the 2001 UK census figure of 1,353.

Preston is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, in an area known as Holderness. It is situated approximately 6 miles (10 km) east of Hull city centre it lies just north of the A1033 road on the crossroads between the B1240 and B1362 roads. The civil parish is formed by the village of Preston and the hamlet of Salt End. According to the 2011 UK census, Preston parish had a population of 3,258, an increase on the 2001 UK census figure of 3,100. The parish church of All Saints is a Grade I listed building.There is both a primary school (Preston Primary School) and a secondary school, which achieved Technology College status in 1997, and has a sixth form facility joined onto the school, in Preston. South Holderness Technology College converted to an academy known as Holderness Academy and serves the surrounding villages of Paull, Hedon, Bilton, Skirlaugh, Keyingham, Thorngumbald, Aldbrough, West Newton, Burton Constable, Sproatley and others. Preston has two pubs, a pizza takeaway, a Chinese takeaway and a garden centre, with a farm shop. There is also a butcher's shop on the main street, along with the Post Office, the Post Office has closed but the shop remains. It also has a hairdressers and a traditional barbers shop. Recently 'Preston (South)' was marked clearly by the Council, however the two are not geographically all that close, and still stand as two separate areas separated in places by Hedon. In February 2023, a £9.6 million crematorium opened off Sproatley Road.

Burton Constable is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is located approximately 9 miles (14 km) north-east of Hull city centre and 3 miles (5 km) south-east of the village of Skirlaugh. The civil parish is formed by the village of Burton Constable and the hamlets of Marton and West Newton. According to the 2011 UK census, Burton Constable parish had a population of 127, an increase on the 2001 UK census figure of 120.It is the site of the Grade I listed Burton Constable Hall.Burton Constable was served from 1864 to 1964 by Burton Constable railway station on the Hull and Hornsea Railway.Marmaduke Tunstall, the eighteenth-century ornithologist, was born in the village.

Burton Constable Hall is a large Elizabethan country house in England, with 18th- and 19th-century interiors and a fine 18th-century cabinet of curiosities. The hall, a Grade I listed building, is set in a park designed by Capability Brown with an area of 300 acres (1.2 km2). It is located 3 miles (5 km) south-east of the village of Skirlaugh in the East Riding of Yorkshire, approximately 9 miles (14 km) north-east of the city of Hull, and has been the home of the Constable family for over 400 years. The hall and park are owned by the Burton Constable Foundation, a registered charity.

Hedon Racecourse railway station is a disused railway station on the North Eastern Railway's Hull and Holderness Railway to the west of Hedon in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was opened by the North Eastern Railway on 24 August 1888 to serve the newly opened Hedon Park Racecourse. The station was not timetabled and only operated on race days. The station was closed in 1909 when horse racing was terminated. The station was briefly re-opened as Hedon Halt between 14 August 1948 and 23 October 1948 to serve speedway meetings at the newly constructed Hedon Stadium.

Coniston is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, in an area known as Holderness. It is situated approximately 6 miles (10 km) north-east of Hull city centre and less than 1 mile (1.6 km) north-east of the village of Ganstead. It lies on the A165 road. The civil parish is formed by the village of Coniston and the hamlet of Thirtleby. According to the 2011 UK Census, Coniston parish had a population of 319, an increase on the 2001 UK Census figure of 266.

Hedon Stadium was a motorcycle speedway venue between Hedon and Hull, England. The location of the stadium was south of the Hedon Racecourse railway station, which is on the east side of the Staithes Road, about 5 miles from the centre of Hull and 1 mile west of Hedon.

Old Ellerby is a hamlet in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, in an area known as Holderness. It is situated approximately 7 miles (11 km) north-east of Hull city centre and 2 miles (3.2 km) south-east of Skirlaugh, lying to the east of the A165 road. Together with its neighbour New Ellerby it forms the civil parish of Ellerby. In 1823 Ellerby was in the civil parish of Swine, and the Wapentake and Liberty of Holderness. Population at the time, including the then settlements of Dowthorp, Langthorp and Owbrough, was 233. Occupations included five farmers, a blacksmith, a wheelwright, a shoemaker, and the landlord of The Board public house, and a further farmer at Dowthorp.Old Ellerby was served from 1864 to 1902 by Ellerby railway station on the Hull and Hornsea Railway.

Hedon Aerodrome (also known as Royal Air Force Hedon and Royal Air Force Hull), was an airfield located 6 miles (9.7 km) east of Kingston upon Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The airfield was in operation intermittently between 1912 and the late 1950s both in a civilian and a military capacity. It was rejected as a Second World War airfield due to its proximity to the Salt End chemical works and oil tanks.

Hedon railway station is a disused railway station on the North Eastern Railway's Hull and Holderness Railway on the northern edge of Hedon in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was opened by the Hull and Holderness Railway on 27 June 1854. The station was closed to passengers on 19 October 1964 and to freight on 3 June 1968.Initially, trains ran west to Hull's Victoria Dock station, but after the North Eastern Railway took over the line from January 1964, services terminated at Hull Paragon, which put the distance between the two stations at 8 miles (13 km).The goods shed was a west facing structure that was to the north of the station. It was built outside of the Borough of Hedon due to a clause in the town's charter of 1170 which allowed the inhabitants to charge for goods unloaded in the boundaries of the town. Although this was written for shipping entering the town via Hedon Haven, the Hull and Holderness railway were unwilling to pay the dues, so they located the goods shed in the parish of Preston.
