The South Moravian Region (Czech: Jihomoravský kraj; German: Südmährische Region, pronounced [zyːtˈmɛːʁɪʃə ʁeˈɡi̯oːn]; Slovak: Juhomoravský kraj), or just South Moravia, is an administrative unit (kraj) of the Czech Republic, located in the south-western part of its historical region of Moravia (an exception is Jobova Lhota which traditionally belongs to Bohemia). The region's capital is Brno, the nation's 2nd largest city. South Moravia is bordered by the South Bohemian Region to the west, Vysočina Region to the north-west, Pardubice Region to the north, Olomouc Region to the north-east, Zlín Region to the east, Trenčín and Trnava Regions, Slovakia to the south-east and Lower Austria, Austria to the south.

M-Palace (Czech: M-Palác) is a high-rise building in Brno, Czech Republic. The building is 60 meters high and it is one of the tallest buildings in Brno. The building consists of a sixteen-floors tower and two-floors building. The tower is mainly used for offices and in the two floors building is a shopping mall. There is a restaurant on the top floor of the tower with a panoramic view of the city. Construction of the building was started in 1994 and the building was opened in 1997. The building is located on Heršpická street. In the near of the building are located AZ Tower and Spielberk Towers.

The AZ Tower is a high rise building in the city of Brno, Czech Republic. The tower is 111 m (364 ft) tall, and it has 30 floors. It is currently the tallest building in the Czech Republic. Construction of the building commenced in 2011 and completed in April 2013. The building has a floor area of over 17,000 m2 (180,000 sq ft). It is utilized for office, retail and residential purposes. The AZ Tower is located on Pražákova street in the city district Brno-center. M-Palace and Spielberk Towers are located near the building. The Spielberk Tower B used to be the tallest building in Brno until the AZ tower was built.

Brno-Bohunice is a municipal district of the city of Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic. It is located in the southwest part of the city. It is first mentioned in 1237. It began growing rapidly at the beginning of the 18th century. In 1919, Bohunice officially became part of Brno, which meant further growth. Street names first appeared in 1925. In 1921, Bohunice had 202 houses and 1463 inhabitants. Today's statistics show that Bohunice currently has about 614 houses with 14,212 inhabitants as of 2021. Until 1975, Bohunice was just a small district at one end of the city of Brno, connected with the city center by a bus. In the 1970s many housing developments were built, which increased the district's population to increase to 13,000 by the end of the decade. Today, there is several tram lines, bus lines and trolleybus lines, which serve the transport to and from the city center. In the eastern direction it neighbors with the major Brno graveyard - The Central Cemetery - and the western part neighbors with the district Starý Lískovec. Today Bohunice is probably best known for its hospital - it is the largest hospital in Moravia and one of the biggest hospitals in the Czech Republic. Recently, the hospital area was expanded greatly and the faculty of science and engineering of Masaryk University was relocated here - now known as the Univerzitní kampus. The entire complex was then expanded even further by building a shopping gallery and TESCO nearby and its name is Campus.

The Brno metropolitan area (Czech: Brněnská metropolitní oblast) is the metropolitan area of the city of Brno in the Czech Republic. The metropolitan area has a population of 729,405 as of 2024. The metropolitan area is the third most populous urban area in the country. Covering an area of 1,978 km² in the South Moravian Region, it comprises Brno and 183 surrounding municipalities, with a total population of over 700,000 as of 2023. The aim of establishing the Brno Metropolitan Area is cooperation between municipalities in coordinating strategic projects in transportation, education, environment, and social services. This cooperation is made possible by the European Commission's ITI tool – Integrated Territorial Investments. ITI serves to address metropolitan problems requiring an integrated approach and cooperation among all municipalities. The Brno Metropolitan Area is one of three metropolitan areas defined in the Czech Republic's Regional Development Strategy 2021+.

Spielberk Towers are two high-rises in Brno, Czech Republic. The towers are part of the complex Spielberk Office Centre. The towers are named as Tower A and Tower B. The lower tower is named Tower A and the taller tower is named Tower B. The Tower A is 53 metres high and the taller Tower B is 85 metres high. The taller tower has 21 floors above ground and 3 floors below ground. The building has received a BREEAM Outstanding certificate. The construction of the building started in 2007, but it was stopped because of the financial crisis. The construction was restored in June 2010. The Tower B was completed in 2012. The Tower A is used as a hotel. The Tower B had been the tallest building in Brno before the AZ Tower was built in 2013.

Winning Group Arena, is an indoor arena in Brno, Czech Republic. The capacity of the arena is 7,700 people and it was built in 1982. It is currently home to the HC Kometa Brno ice hockey team. Until 2011, the arena was named Hala Rondo. However, after Kajotbet started sponsoring the arena, it was renamed Kajot Arena. After the end of the contract, it was called "Rondo Hall" again until a new sponsorship with DRFG was signed in 2015, renaming the arena to DRFG Arena.

St Thomas's Abbey (or the Königskloster) (Czech: Starobrněnský klášter) is an Augustinian abbey and church located in Brno in the Czech Republic. The geneticist and abbot Gregor Mendel was its most famous religious leader to date, who between 1856 and 1863 conducted his experiments on pea plants in the monastery garden. His experiments brought forth two generalizations which later became known as Mendel's Laws of Inheritance. The Abbey is unique amongst modern Augustinian foundations because it is not called a priory, and indeed it has an abbot (Prälat - prelate) whereas all other existing Augustinian friaries are led by a prior.

The 2016 UEC European Track Championships (under-23 & junior) were the 16th continental championships for European under-23 and junior track cyclists, and the 7th since the event was renamed following the reorganisation of European track cycling in 2010. The event took place at the Velodromo Fassa Bortolo in Montichiari, Italy from 12 to 17 July 2016.

Mendel Museum (Czech: Mendelovo muzeum) has been an institution of Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, since 2007. The museum was established in 2002 with the international co-operation of a number of organizations. The principal role in the creation of the museum itself was played by the Austrian society VFG and affiliated scientists and patrons. The museum is located within the precincts of the Augustinian abbey in Old Brno, where the abbot and scientist Gregor Johann Mendel lived and worked.

Starobrno Brewery (in Czech: Pivovar Starobrno) is a Czech brewery located in the city of Brno. It was built as a successor of the brewery founded in 1325, as a part of Cistercian convent. The brewery was named Starobrno Brewery only in the second half of the 19th century. In 2009, Starobrno Brewery produced more than one million hectoliters of beer. The same year, the brewery merged with the Royal Brewery of Krušovice and became a part of the Dutch brewing company Heineken N.V.

Brno Exhibition Center (Czech: Brněnské výstaviště) is a convention centre based in Brno, Czech Republic. It was established in 1928. The centre occupies a site on 667,000 square metres (7,180,000 sq ft) and provides a total net exhibition area of 125,496 square metres (1,350,830 sq ft) including open-air space and exhibition halls with an exhibition area of 61,479 square metres (661,750 sq ft). The centre has 15 exhibition halls with a visitor capacity of 25,000–30,000 (maximum 60,000) a day. The number of visitors per year grew to 780,000 in 2017.
