Beijing railway station

The Beijing Ancient Observatory (traditional Chinese: 北京古觀象臺; simplified Chinese: 北京古观象台; pinyin: Běijīng Gǔ Guānxiàngtái) is a pretelescopic observatory located in Beijing, China. The observatory was built in 1442 during the Ming dynasty, and expanded during the Qing. It received major reorganization and many new, more accurate instruments from Europeans (Jesuits) in 1644. As one of the oldest observatories in the world, the Beijing Ancient Observatory grounds cover an area of 10,000 square meters. The observatory itself is located on a 40 by 40 meter wide platform on the top of a 15 meter tall brick tower, an extant portion of the old Ming dynasty era city wall that once encircled Beijing. Several of the bronze astronomical instruments are on the platform, and other armillary spheres, sundials, and other instruments are located nearby at ground level. It is operated as a museum in affiliation with the Beijing Planetarium.

The Tian Mingjian incident (also known as the Jian'guo Gate incident) was an act of mass murder that occurred in Beijing, China on 20 September 1994. People's Liberation Army officer First Lieutenant Tian Mingjian first killed his officer and several other soldiers at his military base in Tongxian County and afterwards drove towards Jianguomen, where he continued his shooting spree and indiscriminately fired at people in the streets. Seventeen civilians, including an Iranian diplomat and his son, along with up to 11 soldiers and policemen were killed before Tian was finally shot dead by a police sniper.

Jianguomen (simplified Chinese: 建国门; traditional Chinese: 建國門; pinyin: Jiànguómén; lit. 'Gate of Construction of a nation') was a gate in the city wall that once stood in Beijing and is now a transportation hub to the east of city centre. At Jianguomen bridge, the eastern 2nd Ring Road divides Jianguomen Inner Street to the west from Jianguomen Outer Street to the east. A sub-district, Jianguomen Subdistrict is named after the gate. It's part of Dongcheng district.

Jianguomen Inner Street (simplified Chinese: 建国门内大街; traditional Chinese: 建國門內大街; pinyin: Jiànguómén Nèi Dàjiē) is a major street in urban Beijing. It forms part of the extended Chang'an Avenue. Its path begins after the Dongdan intersection heading east until Jianguomen Bridge. During its short run, it crosses with the intersection to the Beijing railway station. The Beijing International Hotel also lies along its track, as does a main postal office and the building of China customs. The street ends near the Beijing Ancient Observatory. The Beijing Ming City Wall Ruins Park (traditional Chinese: 北京明城牆遺址公園; simplified Chinese: 北京明城墙遗址公园; pinyin: Běijīng Míng Chéngqiáng Yízhǐ Gōngyuán) is a park in Beijing with the longest and best preserved section of the city's Ming Dynasty city wall. The park is located 3 km (1.9 mi) from the city center and extends east from Chongwenmen to Dongbianmen and then north to near to Beijing Railway Station East Street. The park features a 1.5 km (0.93 mi) section of the Ming city wall and the Southeast Corner Tower, which are over 550 years old and surrounded by green park space to the south and east. The park covers an area of 15.5 ha (38 acres), including 3.3 ha (8.2 acres) of fortifications and 12.2 ha (30 acres) of green space. The corner tower and the ramparts atop the wall can be accessed for an admission fee.

The Office of the Macau Special Administrative Region in Beijing (simplified Chinese: 澳门特别行政区驻北京办事处; traditional Chinese: 澳門特別行政區駐北京辦事處; pinyin: Àomén Tèbié Xíngzhèngqū Zhù Běijīng Bànshìchù; Portuguese: Delegação da Região Administrativa Especial de Macau em Pequim) is the representative office of Macau in the mainland area of the People's Republic of China. Its counterpart office is the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region, representative office of the Central Government of the People's Republic of China in Macau.

Jianguomen Station (simplified Chinese: 建国门站; traditional Chinese: 建國門站; pinyin: Jiànguómén Zhàn) is an interchange station on Line 1 and Line 2 of the Beijing Subway at Jianguomen in Dongcheng District and Chaoyang District, Beijing. The station handles over 170,000 transfers between Lines 1 and 2 per day.

The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) is a Chinese research institute and think tank based in the People's Republic of China. CASS is under the auspices of the State Council of the People's Republic of China. CASS houses the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, which later became the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.According to Chen Daoyin, a former professor at the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, CASS "is not so much an academic institution but a body to formulate party ideology to support the leadership."

Guangqumennei Station (simplified Chinese: 广渠门内站; traditional Chinese: 廣渠門內站; pinyin: Guǎngqúménnèi Zhàn) is a station on Line 7 of the Beijing Subway. It was opened on December 28, 2014 as a part of the stretch between Beijing West railway station and Jiaohuachang and is located between Ciqikou and Guangqumenwai.

Donghuashi Subdistrict (Chinese: 东花市街道; pinyin: dōnghuāshì jiēdào) is a subdistrict in the southeast part of Dongcheng, Beijing, China. As of 2020, it has 47,864 residents within its borders.The subdistrict got its name from Donghuashi Dajie (Chinese: 东花市大街; lit. 'East Flower Market Avenue') that is located with it.

Chongwenmen Station (simplified Chinese: 崇文门站; traditional Chinese: 崇文門站; pinyin: Chóngwénmén Zhàn) is an interchange station on Line 2 and Line 5 of the Beijing Subway at Chongwenmen in Dongcheng District.

Chongwenmen (Chinese: 崇文門; pinyin: Chóngwénmén; Manchu: ᡧᡠᠪᡝᠸᡝᠰᡳᡥᡠᠯᡝᡵᡝᡩᡠᡴᠠ; Möllendorff: šu be wesihulere duka) was a gate that was part of Beijing's city wall in what is now Dongcheng District. The gate stood in the southeastern part of Beijing's inner city, immediately south of the old Beijing Legation Quarter. In the 1960s, the gate and much of the wall was torn down to make room for Beijing's second ring road. Today, Chongwenmen is marked by the intersection of Chongwenmen Nei (Inner) and Chongwenmen Wai (Outer) Street, which run north-south through the former gate, Chongwenmen East and Chongwenmen West Street, which run east-west where the wall stood, and Beijing Station West Street, a diagonal street, going northwest to the Beijing railway station. Chongwenmen is a transport node in Beijing. Chongwenmen Station is an interchange station on Lines 2 and 5 of the Beijing Subway. Chongwen District, an administrative division of the city from 1952 to 2010 and now folded into Dongcheng District, was named after Chongwenmen.
