The General Planning Commission (Commissariat général du Plan) was an advisory body reporting to the government of France. It was established by the Chairman of the French Provisional Government, Charles de Gaulle, on 3 January 1946.: 152 The General Planning Commission's first plan, the Modernization and Re-equipment Plan, was designed to spur economic reconstruction following World War II.: 38  Its aims were: (1) to develop national production and foreign trade, particularly in those fields where France is most favourably placed; (2) to increase productivity; (3) to ensure the full employment of manpower; (4) to raise the standard of living and to improve the environment and the conditions of national life.: 240  This plan is commonly known as the Monnet Plan after Jean Monnet, the chief advocate and first head of the General Planning Commission.: 98 In pursuit of its objectives, the General Planning Commission set production targets for 1950 according to the resources that were then expected to be available, starting with six crucial sectors: coal mining, steel, electricity, rail transport, cement, and farm machinery.: 247  Later oil, chemicals, fertilizers, synthetic fertilizers, synthetic fibres, shipbuilding and other sectors were added.: 38  The Commission's plan emphasized expansion, modernization, efficiency, and modern management practice.: 280  It set investment targets, and allocated investment funds.: 280  : 38 The plan’s process – focusing, prioritizing, and pointing the way – has been called "indicative planning" to differentiate it from highly directive and rigid Soviet style planning. : 29–32 The General Planning Commission continued to produce a multi-year plan for France until 2006 when it was succeeded by the Centre d’analyse stratégique. In 2013, France Stratégie took over from the Centre d'analyse stratégique.

The Hôtel de Brienne is an 18th-century French townhouse (hôtel particulier) at 14 rue Saint-Dominique in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. It serves as the official residence of the minister of defense. It was built in 1724 to the designs of the architect François Debias-Aubry for François Duret, a real estate entrepreneur, who was also president of the Grand Conseil. In 1726 Duret sold it to Françoise de Mailly (widow of Louis Phélypeaux, Marquis de La Vrillière), who allowed her son, Louis Phélypeaux, Count of Saint-Florentin to stay on the upper floor (premier étage). Françoise sold it to Louise-Elisabeth de Bourbon, Princesse de Conti in 1733, and it became known as the Hôtel de Conti. It was sold to Louis-Marie-Athanase of Loménie, Count of Brienne in 1776, when it acquired its current name. Laetizia Bonaparte, Napoleon's mother (Madame Mère), lived here during the First French Empire, and Charles de Gaulle used it as his office at various times during the Second World War. It is currently occupied by the French Ministry of the Armed Forces.

The Place du Palais-Bourbon is a historic square outside the Palais Bourbon in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, France. The land was acquired by Louis Joseph, Prince of Condé in 1769. The Prince de Condé hired architect Jean-François Leroy to design the square. Its construction began in 1788, and it was completed in 1804. In the meantime, the Prince of Condé had fled due to the French Revolution. In 1855, a statue named La Loi designed by Jean-Jacques Feuchère was installed at the centre of the square.

The Maison de la Chimie ("the House of Chemistry") is an international conference center in Paris, France, located near the National Assembly.The house is managed by a nonprofit association, La Fondation de la Maison de la Chimie. Its primary objective is to assist and help scientists and engineers working in the field of chemistry, through the organization of meetings, colloquia and conferences. The house provides office space to various associations involved in scientific and technological fields. The headquarters of the Société Astronomique de France was located in the house from 1966 to 1974.Halls and rooms are also rented for meetings whose topics lie outside the field of chemistry; these other usages actually represent 75% to 80% of the activity. Because of its central location in Paris, near the National Assembly and several ministries, the house is particularly sought for meetings with elected officials.

Faubourg Saint-Germain (French pronunciation: ​[fobuʁ sɛ̃ ʒɛʁmɛ̃]) is a historic district of Paris, France. The Faubourg has long been known as the favourite home of the French high nobility and hosts many aristocratic hôtels particuliers. It is currently part of the 7th arrondissement of Paris.

The Hôtel de Noirmoutier is a hôtel particulier in Paris, France. It was built in 1723. It has been listed by the French Ministry of Culture since February 12, 1996.The mansion served as a model for Spencer Hays' residence in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Hôtel de Besenval is a historic hôtel particulier in Paris with a cour d'honneur and a large English landscape garden, an architectural style commonly known as entre cour et jardin – meaning a residence between the entrance court in front of the building and the garden behind it. The building is listed as a historical monument by decree of 20 October 1928. It houses the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation and the residence of the Swiss Ambassador to France since 1938.

The Institut Néerlandais (1957–2013) was a non-profit institution in Paris devoted to the promotion of Dutch art and culture. One of the earliest foreign cultural centers in Paris, it was founded in 1957 by Frits Lugt. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the sole financier of the center announced its closure in 2013. It closed in December 2013. The owner of the building, another foundation started by Frits Lugt, adjoins and currently uses the building as a gallery for the collection of the Fondation Custodia.

The Fondation Custodia is an art collection in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, focusing on European Old Master works, including works by Dutch, Flemish, Italian and French artists. It was founded in 1947 by the collector and art historian Frits Lugt and his wife Jacoba Lugt-Klever to house their collection of drawings, prints and paintings. Located at 121 rue de Lille, it occupies the Hôtel Turgot, an 18th-century mansion.
