Established in April 1983 by the administration of Alhaji L. K. Jakande as a health center, it was upgraded to a general hospital on March 12, 2004, during the tenure of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The hospital serves Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, Ifelodun LCDA, and Amuwo Odofin LCDA, catering to a population of approximately 2.8 million people. It also receives patients from neighboring areas, including Ojo, Iyana Iba, Okokomaiko, and parts of Ogun State.

Tenstrings Music Institute, incorporated in the United Kingdom and operating there as Africa Heritage Academy is a contemporary music conservatory in Nigeria, and is the country's largest music school with study centers in Ikeja, Surulere, Festac Town, Lekki, Port Harcourt and affiliated schools in other parts of the country. In September 2016, it was reported that the school has trained over 7000 students in about a decade of its establishment. In 2015, the school institutionalized career management and promotional services for its protégées.
