Čierne

(Polish: , German: Hertschawa) is a municipality and village in Frýdek-Místek District in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 300 inhabitants.

Svrčinovec (Hungarian: Fenyvesszoros, until 1899 Szvrcsinovecz) is a village and municipality in Čadca District in the Žilina Region of northern Slovakia.

Gírová (Polish: Girowa) is an 840-metre-high (2,756 ft) mountain in the Silesian Beskids mountain range, in the Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. The mountain is located several kilometers from the borders with Poland and Slovakia. There is a mountain hut on the mountain, at the elevation of 790 m (2,592 ft). It was opened on 16 October 1932 by the Club of Czechoslovak Tourists. Six year afterwards, the hut was rented by Franciszek Schulhauser, who has been administering it until 1967. During the communist era, the hut was owned by several state companies, and was not fully opened to the tourists. It was only on 4 September 1993, when the hut was fully opened.There are two tourist trails leading to Gírová. One can reach the mountain from Mosty u Jablunkova (Mosty koło Jabłonkowa) and Bukovec (Bukowiec), the second one from Jablunkov (Jabłonków).

The name is of topographic origins and is derived from sycamore trees (Polish: jawor) and is a diminutive form of jaworzyna.

Čadca railway station (Slovak: Železničná stanica Čadca) is the main station serving the municipality and district town of Čadca, in the Žilina Region, northern Slovakia. Opened in 1871, the station forms part of the cross border Žilina–Čadca–Svrčinovec zastávka–Mosty u Jablunkova railway, and is also a junction station for two other lines, one of them also cross border. The station is currently owned by Železnice Slovenskej republiky (ŽSR); train services are operated by Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK).

Czadeczka (Slovak: Čadečka) is a river of Poland and Slovakia. With its headwaters in the Silesian Beskids near the border with Slovakia, the Czadeczka crosses the border to join the Čierňanka near Skalité. The Čierňanka joins the Kysuca at Čadca.

Jabłonków incident (Polish: Incydent jabłonkowski, Czech: Jablunkovský incident) refers to the events of the night of 25–26 August 1939, along the Polish-Slovak border, when a group of German Abwehr agents attacked a rail station in Mosty. The main purpose of the attack was to capture the Jablunkov Pass, with its strategic railway tunnel, until the arrival of the German armed forces. The attackers were repelled by units of the Polish Army, and the incident is regarded as a prelude to the German invasion of Poland. The Jabłonków Incident has been named the first commando operation of the Second World War.

Čadca District (okres Čadca) is a district in the Žilina Region of northern central Slovakia, in the Kysuce region. It had been established in 1923 and the current borders exist from 1996. Forest covers 58% of the district area. It is one of the populous Slovak district, population density is above Slovak average. Economy basis is performed by engineering, metal and wood processing industry. In the district are several winter and skiing resorts, foremost Oščadnica and Makov. Administrative seat is the town of Čadca, however, many locals daily travel to Žilina for work, shopping, or education.

The Horelica Tunnel is a road tunnel in northern Slovakia. It is located on the D3 motorway at the Oščadnica - Čadca section (Čadca bypass). The total length of the tunnel without portals is 555 m, and with portals 605 m. Its construction began in July 2000 and the breakthrough was reached in May 2002. The tunnel with Čadca bypass was opened on October 29, 2004, and it replaced road 11, which runs across the town of Čadca.
