White Eagle Fountain

The White Eagle Square (Polish: Plac Orła Białego; German: Weißen Adlers Platz), prior to 1945 known as the Horse Market Square (Polish: Rynek Koński; German: Roßmarkt), is an urban square in Szczecin, Poland, within the Old Town neighbourhood of the Downtown district. It is located between Koński Kierat, Bogdanki, Grodzka, and Staromłyńska Streets. It is surrounded by historic tenement houses and apartment buildings, including Globe and Ionic Palaces dating to the 18th century, and 1891, respectily, and features 18th-century sculptures of the White Eagle Fountain and the Statue of Flora. Until 18th century, it functioned as a marketplace, which existence was recorded as far back as the 12th century.

The Statue of Flora in Szczecin is a baroque monument to Flora, a goddess of flowers and spring, located at White Eagle Square (Polish: Plac Orła Białego) in Szczecin (the Old Town). The statue was made of sandstone around 1730 by German sculptor Johann Georg Glume to a design by Johann Konrad Koch. The sculpture group consists of Flora holding a basket of flowers, along with a putto on either side: one climbing on a horn of plenty; one sitting by another basket of flowers. It was destroyed during the Second World War and restored in 1953.

The Szczecin Art Academy (Polish: Akademia Sztuki w Szczecinie) is a public university in Szczecin, Poland, founded on September 1, 2010. The profile of the university includes both music and visual arts with programmes offered in two different art disciplines. It consists of 4 faculties with BA and MA courses.

The Ionic Palace (Polish: Pałac Joński; German: Ionischer Palast) is a historical neoclassical tenement building in Szczecin, Poland, located at 3 White Eagle Square, in the Old Town neighbourhood. It dates to the 18th century, and was furtherly expanded at the beginning of the next century. Currently it is one of faculty buildings of the Szczecin Art Academy.

The Velthusen Palace (Polish: Pałac Velthusena; German: Palais Velthusen), also known as the Wolkenhauer House (Polish: Dom Wolkenhauera; German: Wolkenhauer-Haus), is a historic Baroque and neoclassical tenement house in Szczecin, Poland. It is located at 13 Staromłyńska Street, at the corner with Łaziebna Street, and next to the White Eagle Square, within the Old Town neighbourhood of the Downtown district. It was constructed in 1779, originally housing a wine store and a winery, and later a piano store and production facility, and a bank. It was destroyed in 1943 during the Second World War, and rebuilt between 1959 and 1962. Currently, it houses the Feliks Nowowiejski Music School.

Szczecin Cathedral, in full the Archcathedral Basilica of St James the Apostle (Polish: Bazylika archikatedralna św. Jakuba Apostoła), is a Gothic cathedral located in Szczecin, Poland and seat of the Archdiocese of Szczecin-Kamień. Built in the 12th-14th centuries, it is the second tallest church in Poland, the largest church in the region of Western Pomerania, and one of the most distinctive landmarks of the Szczecin Old Town.

The Archdiocese of Szczecin-Kamień (Latin: Sedinen(sis) – Caminen(sis)) is an archdiocese located in the cities of Szczecin and Kamień Pomorski in Poland. With 24,3% of its population attending church services weekly or more in 2013 it is the least devoutly religious diocese in Poland.

The Palace of the Pomeranian Estates Assembly (Polish: Pałac Sejmu Stanów Pomorskich), also known as the Old Estates Building (Polish: Stary Dom Ziemiaństwa; German: Altes Landeshaus), is a historical Baroque palace in Szczecin, Poland, located at 27 Staromłyńska Street in the Old Town neighbourhood. It houses the Museum of Regional Traditions, a division of the National Museum in Szczecin. It was designed by Gerhard Cornelius van Wallrawe, and constructed between 1726 and 1729. It originally housed the Pomeranian Estates Assembly, a governing body of the Province of Pomerania, and also served as the royal residence for when the monarch of Prussia would visit the city. From 1823 to 1927, it hosted of the Provincial Assembly of the Province of Pomerania, and from 1928 to 1945, it was used by the Pomeranian State Museum, which was then replaced by the Szczecin National Museum.

The Polish Soldier Square, also commonly referred to as the Flower Avenue, is an urban square in Szczecin, Poland, located at the bounry of neighbourhoods of Centrum and Old Town, within the Downtown district. To the north and south of the square are placed roads, which intersect with Independence Avenue, Emancipation Avenue, Pope John Paul II Avenue, and Bałuki Street to the west, and with Jana Matejki Street and Castle Way to the east. The square was established in 1725, and was formerly known as the White Parade Square until 1809, and later as the King Square until 1945.

The Palace of the Heads (Polish: Pałac pod Głowami; German: Palast unter den Köpfen) is a historical neoclassical building in Szczecin, Poland, located at 1 Staromłyńska Street and 2 Polish Soldier Square, in the Old Town neighbourhood. It consists of two conjoined tenements, dating to the 18th century. Currently it houses the Museum of Contemporary Art, a division of the National Museum in Szczecin, and the cultural centre of Dom Kultury 13 Muz.

The Szczecin Meeting Point, also colloquially known as the Glass Trap, and the Aquarium, is a pavilion in Szczecin, Poland, placed at the northern entrance to the Polish Soldier Square. It has a form of a small one-storey-tall cuboid, with structure made out of a weathering steel, façade covered in glass panels, and most of its usable area located underground. It was completed in 2012, and currently houses a visitor centre.

The 1 Farna Street building (Polish: budynek przy ul. Farnej 1) is a historic five-storey building in Szczecin, Poland, located at 1 Farna Street in the Old Town neighbourhood, at the intersection with Mary Square. Originally it was decorated with neoclassical façade, which currently has a postmodernist design. It is best known as the birthplace and first family home of Catherine the Great, the Empress of Russia from 1762 to 1796. It is currently used as an office building of Powszechny Zakład Ubezpieczeń.
