Knowle is a district and council ward in the south east of the city of Bristol in England, United Kingdom. It is bordered by Filwood Park to the west, Brislington to the east, Whitchurch and Hengrove to the south and Totterdown to the north. The settlement was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Canole. Knowle comes from the old English word for hillock, which means a little hill. The majority of amenities are located along Broadwalk Shopping Centre and Wells Road. Several sports clubs are located just south of the shopping centre, such as the Cricket, Tennis and Bowls clubs. The main green space is Redcatch Park, which contains football pitches, tennis courts, a croquet club and a children's play area. The park is protected and events are organised by the Friends of Redcatch Park. Redcatch Community Association run the Redcatch Centre in Redcatch Road, on the boundary of Redcatch Park – a resource for community groups and private and public events. Clubs and groups include the Knowle and Totterdown Local History Group, Redcatch Rollers (Short Mat Bowling), Redcatch Tea Dance, and Redcatch Art Club who all meet at Redcatch Community Centre. Knowle Community Association run a community centre in The Square, Knowle Park, with activities including Knowle East Youth Club. Other organisations are Broad Walk Neighbourhood Watch, which acts as a portal for the local community of Knowle and those in and around Broad Walk, and the St John Ambulance Knowle & Totterdown Division. There are good views of the city just above Perrett Park, along Sylvia Avenue which is lined by Victorian terraces.

The Bristol Jamia Mosque is a mosque in the Totterdown area of Bristol. It was the first mosque in Bristol and is currently the largest in the south west of England. The building was formerly a disused church that was bought and converted into a mosque in 1968. It has since been embellished with a dome and minaret.

Bristol Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone is an enterprise zone in Bristol, England, focused on creative, high-tech and low-carbon industries. Covering an area of 70 hectares (170 acres), it is based around Bristol Temple Meads railway station, which is being redeveloped by Network Rail. It also contains the area around the existing Temple Quay development, and the Silverthorne Lane and Avon Riverside areas. It includes the site of the planned Bristol Arena, and the site of the University of Bristol's planned Temple Quarter Campus.

Merrywood Grammar School was a grammar school in Knowle, Bristol. It opened in 1937 and closed in 1995. Its site now houses Knowle West Health Park.

Windmill Hill is situated in the south of the city of Bristol and is often referred to as being part of Bedminster. It is a predominantly residential location, and became popular in the 1990s and 2000s with students, artists and environmentalists, often sharing rented accommodation. The area has mainly Victorian terraced houses though there are also two residential tower blocks Polden and Holroyd House. In the early years of the 21st century the area started undergoing gentrification which has increased house prices in the area. Windmill Hill remains a creative and community driven neighbourhood. Windmill Hill's Community Centre was opened in the 1970s in the former church hall of St Michael and All Angels church.Windmill Hill has given its name to a council ward, which includes Totterdown and the southern part of Bedminster.Windmill Hill is separated from the rest of Bedminster by a railway line (and Bedminster railway station) and industrial estates as well as the Windmill Hill City Farm. The River Malago runs through the western edge of Windmill Hill ward, and Victoria Park is in the centre of the ward.

Victoria Park is a park and open space near Bedminster, Bristol, on Windmill hill. It lies to the east of Bedminster railway station and south of the Bristol to Exeter line.The park features tennis courts, a bowling green, a skate park, a table-tennis table, a 1.7-kilometre (1.1 mi) marked route for joggers, various exercise stations and a children's play area.

Knowle Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in Bristol. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1894, when Knowle played Frenchay. In 1926 the ground held its first first-class match when Somerset played Hampshire in the County Championship. The following season the ground held a further first-class match when Somerset played Worcestershire. The final first-class match held at the ground came in 1928 when Somerset played Essex.Still in use to this day, the ground is the home venue of Knowle Cricket Club.

Totterdown is an inner-suburb of Bristol, England, situated just south of the River Avon and to the south-east of Temple Meads railway station and the city centre. It rises relatively steeply from the river bank to a largely terraced Victorian housing area which is notable for its painted homes - often in bright colours - that can be seen from some distance. There is a tight network of extremely steep roads in Upper Totterdown, of which Vale Street, although very short, is alleged to be the steepest residential road in England.

Waverley F.C. were an English association football club based in Bristol during the Victorian era. Founded in 1889 as an offshoot of Waverley Cricket Club, they were founding members of the second division of the Western Football League (known at the time as the Bristol & District League), and finished bottom of the table in both the 1893–94 and 1894–95 seasons. They moved into the South Bristol & District League in the summer of 1895. Their home ground was behind the Talbot Inn on Wells Road in Knowle.The club appointed local member of parliament Edward Stock Hill as president upon their formation, and a year later fellow MP William Henry Wills was given the role of vice-president.
