Haga station (Gothenburg)

The Haga Church is a church building located in Gothenburg, Sweden. Belonging to the Gothenburg Haga Parish within the Diocese of Gothenburg of the Church of Sweden, it was opened on Advent Sunday, 27 November 1859.Construction of the church began in 1856. The church and also the pulpit was designed by architect Adolf W. Edelsvärd.

The Raoul Wallenberg Monument, titled In Memory of Raoul Wallenberg's Deed, was erected near the Haga Church (Hagakyrkan) in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is a 2.45 meter high monument, made partly of graphic concrete and partly of bronze, and it was created by Charlotte Gyllenhammar of Stockholm, Sweden. It was unveiled on May 25, 2007 by the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Charlotte Gyllenhammar's work – which is in the form of a youth portrait of Raoul Wallenberg made on a stone tablet – presents young Raoul Wallenberg, who has not yet met with his fate. A sculpture just in front of the portrait – the concept of which is the testimony to the repressive nature of history – consists of two sleeping boys. There are many other memorials to Raoul Wallenberg in Sweden and around the world.

Sigird Rudebecks Gymnasium, often called Rudebecks, is a private high school that was founded 1869 by reform educator, Sigrid Rudebeck. It is along with Göteborgs Högre Samskola, one of Gothenburg's most esteemed high schools with high academic results. The school is located in central Gothenburg, on Bellmansgatan in Vasastaden, Sweden. The school has approximately 450 students.

The Gothenburg School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg (Swedish: Handelshögskolan vid Göteborgs universitet) is one of Sweden's leading business schools, located in Gothenburg. It was founded in 1923 as an independent business college and is situated in the centre of the city. In 1961, it was integrated into the state-run university system, still as a separate college, but then was integrated into the University of Gothenburg in 1971. The school is the only one in Sweden to hold the Triple Accreditation, i.e. AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS, certifying that all main activities are of the highest international standards.

Feskekörka (Swedish: [ˈfɛ̂sːkɛˌɕœrːka]; standard: Fiskkyrkan, "fish church") is an indoor fish market in Gothenburg, Sweden, which got its name from the building's resemblance to a Neo-gothic church. It opened on 1 November 1874, and was designed by the city architect Victor von Gegerfelt. Feskekörka is an institution in Gothenburg as well as a tourist magnet, housing one of the city's oldest trades, fishing. Apart from a fish market, there is also a fish and seafood restaurant in the building.

Vasastan is a district in central Gothenburg, Sweden. While nearby Haga was a suburb for the working class with wooden houses, Vasastan was built in stone in neo-renaissance and baroque style for the wealthy middle class. Vasastan was built in the latter half of the 19th century when the city expanded outside the city walls.

Mölndal Municipality (Mölndals kommun or Mölndals stad) is a municipality in Västra Götaland in western Sweden, just south of Gothenburg. Its seat is located in Mölndal, which lies within the Gothenburg urban area, and the whole municipality is part of Metropolitan Gothenburg. In 1911 a municipalsamhälle (a kind of borough within a rural municipality, handling matters of urban character) named Mölndal was instituted in the municipality of Fässberg. In 1922 Fässberg was made the City of Mölndal. In 1971 it was amalgamated with Kållered and Lindome (the latter transferred from Halland County). At the same time it became a municipality of unitary type, like all others in the country. The municipality prefers, however, to style itself Mölndals stad (City of Mölndal) as a semi-official name whenever legally possible. This usage has no effect on the status of the municipality.

Haga is a city district in Gothenburg, Sweden, renowned for its picturesque wooden houses, 19th century-atmosphere and cafés. Originally a working class suburb of the city with a rather bad reputation, it was gradually transformed into a popular visiting place for tourists and Gothenburgers. A major renovation of the area was made in the 1980s, houses were either renovated or torn down and replaced by post-modernistic replicas. Today, Haga has a population of about 4,000 people (4,093 at 2006), a much smaller population compared to 15,000 people one hundred years ago – an indication of the gentrification the district has gone through.Haga is also a parish with the same borders as the city district. It is, areawise, the smallest parish in Sweden.

The stave church of Gothenburg (Swedish: Brädekyrkan i Göteborg), was Gothenburg's first church building and one of its first buildings constructed since its city plan was drawn up. Completed in 1621 on one of the city's first five blocks, bounded by the streets Kungsgatan, Västra Hamngatan, Kyrkogatan and Korsgatan, the stave church stood on the same plot now occupied by Gothenburg Cathedral. The church was intended from the outset to be temporary.From July 26, 1619, the pastor and state-appointed superintendent of Gothenburg was Sylvester Johannis Phrygius (d. 1628), formerly the pastor and superintendent of Skövde.The church steeple was in the middle of the block adjacent to Kungsgatan (near the Kungsgatan entrance, through an iron fence, to today's cathedral square). Narrower than the main building, the bell tower stood along the southwest corner of the stave church. It was capped with a small cupola and pointed spire. The stave church and tower are depicted on the oldest known drawing of the then new city of Gothenburg. The gable-roofed wooden church was about 16 metres long by 12 metres wide. Two extensions were recorded, likely a choir and an entry porch, the latter intended as a place for visitors to leave their weapons before entering the church proper. Never intended as a permanent structure, the site plan called for the wooden church to be offset from the planned location of the eventual cathedral. Superintendent Anders Prytz consecrated the new cathedral on August 10, 1633, and the stave church was disassembled shortly thereafter. The separate bell tower, however, remained in use, even serving as a municipal guard tower for the City guard until 1643, when the cathedral tower was finished in and the old tower was finally demolished.

Kungsparken (Swedish for King's park), originally Kungsportsparken, is a 13-hectare park behind Stora Teatern in Gothenburg, which encloses most of Nya Allén walkway, and constitutes a so-called park district. Kungsparken was built in several stages between 1839 and 1861. In the 1940s and 1950s, the park was a meeting place for the city's homosexual men.

Gothenburg Cathedral (Swedish: Gustavi domkyrka / Göteborgs domkyrka) is a cathedral in Gothenburg, the second largest city in Sweden. It is the seat of the bishop of the diocese of Gothenburg in the Church of Sweden.

The Diocese of Gothenburg (Swedish: Göteborgs stift) is a diocese of the Church of Sweden. Since March 2018, the bishop has been Susanne Rappmann. The diocese includes the provinces of Bohuslän, Halland, and south-west parts of Västergötland. The episcopal see of the diocese is in Gothenburg Cathedral.
