Olidan Power Station (Swedish: Olidans kraftverk) is a hydroelectric power station located in Trollhättan, Sweden. First opened in 1910, it was the first large scale attempt at generating electricity from water in Sweden. The construction of Olidan led to the founding of the Kungliga Vattenfallsstyrelsen (Royal Waterfall Board), which later became Vattenfall. While the first four turbines were put into service in 1910, construction continued, and another four were put into operation by 1914. Due to increasing demand, as well as increasing capacity due to the regulation of Göta älv, another five were then built. By 1921, Olidan carried a total of 13 turbines. 10 of these are still functioning, while the other three were cannibalized for parts. However, it is currently rare for more than three to be generating at the one time. Each turbine has a capacity of 10 MW. When Olidan were completed in 1924, planning began for Hojum Power Station, which came into service in 1938.

The Saab Car Museum (Swedish: Saab Bilmuseum) is an automobile museum in Trollhättan, Sweden. It covers the history of the Saab brand of automobiles manufactured by Saab under various owners since 1947. The museum is housed within one of the old factory buildings at Innovatum, a science and technology centre on the former NOHAB industrial estate in Trollhättan. The museum's collection of about 120 vehicles was scheduled to be publicly auctioned off on January 20, 2012 by Swedish law firm, Delphi, to cover Saab's debts following the company's bankruptcy proceedings. However, the collection was preserved in its entirety by a bid of $4.15 million made by the city of Trollhättan, Saab AB, and the Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg Foundation. The museum is curated by Peter Bäckström, remains open to the public, and hosts festivals regularly.

King Oscars Bridge (known as Oscarsbron in Swedish) is a single arch concrete bridge which spans the Göta River at the Trollhättan Falls in the town of Trollhättan. The present bridge was completed in 1969 and replaced the original bridge which was built in 1889, to connect the suburb of Strömslund to the town. As a result of its location close to the falls, as well as the Olidan and Hojum hydroelectric power stations, the bridge was a popular tourist attraction in Sweden for many years, and remains a popular viewing platform during the annual Fallens Dagar – an annual event in which water is released over the original falls at Trollhättan. As a result of its size and impressive views of the falls, for a long time, King Oscars Bridge was one of Sweden's most visited tourist attractions.

The King's Cave (also known as Kungsgrottan in Swedish) is a shallow cave (a Giant's kettle) formed into the granite rock alongside the Gota River in Trollhattan, Sweden. The cave was formed through natural causes and over the centuries, was visited by numerous Swedish monarchs, who inscribed their names into the rock. As a result, the cave has become a Swedish landmark and also known colloquially as Trollhättan's "Royal guestbook" ("Trollhättan's kungliga gästbok"). The cave is flanked by King Oscars Bridge on the eastern side, which crosses the Göta River south of the well known Trollhattan Falls. The cave has inscriptions from monarchs as far back as King Adolf Fredrik and his wife Lovisa Ulrika in 1754 to the present day Swedish king Carl XVI Gustaf. The most recent addition includes an inscription from Crown Princess and heir-apparent to the Swedish throne, Victoria, who visited in 2001.

Hojum Power Station (alt. Håjum Power Station) is the second hydroelectric power station in Trollhättan, the first one being the older Olidan Power Station. While the first two turbines were taken into service in 1938, a third one was built and started in 1992. The first two are rated at 50 MW, while the third is rated at 70 MW. The station is mainly located underground in a large mountain hall. This design was chosen because of the political instability in Europe at the time, which later led to the second world war. The relatively small building above ground was drawn by the Swedish architect Erik Hahr.

Film i Väst (English: "Film in West") is a film company located in Trollhättan, Sweden, founded in 1992 by the Älvsborg County Council. Film i Väst became known early on under the nickname Trollywood (from Trollhättan + Hollywood). Since its inception, Film i Väst has co-produced a total of more than 1,000 Swedish and international feature films, TV dramas, documentaries and short films. Lars von Trier used its facilities in his movies, such as Dogville and Manderlay.

Trollhättan Falls is a waterfall in the Göta river (Göta älv) in Sweden. The falls starts at Malgö Bridge in central Trollhättan, and has a total height of 32 metres, making up a large part of the 44 metre total fall of the river from Vänern to Kattegat. Before the hydroelectric powerplants were built the discharge of the falls was 900 m³/s, and the falls stretched down to Olidehålan, where the lower part of the fall was called Helvetesfallet ("Hell Falls"). Today the river is allowed through its original course only at special occasions, to regulate the waterlevels of Vänern or as a tourist attraction, such as during the Fallens dagar ("Days of the Waterfalls"), arranged on the third Friday of July every year. The discharge is then 300 m³/s. Most of the time the falls are used in the hydroelectric powerplants Håjum and Olidan on the eastern banks of the river.

Trollhättan Municipality (Swedish: Trollhättans kommun, semi-officially Trollhättans stad) is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Trollhättan. The municipality was created gradually in 1967, 1971 and 1974 during the last local government reform when the City of Trollhättan (itself instituted in 1916) was amalgamated with surrounding municipalities. The municipality itself prefers to use the denomination Trollhättans stad (City of Trollhättan) for the entire territory, including rural areas. This is purely nominal and has no effect on its status as a unitary municipality. Until 2012 it was the home of the now defunct Saab Automobile.

Trollhättan (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈtrɔ̂lːˌhɛtːan] ) is the 23rd-largest city in Sweden, the seat of Trollhättan Municipality, Västra Götaland County. It is situated by Göta älv, near the lake Vänern, and has a population of approximately 50,000 in the city proper. It is located 75 km (46 mi) north of Sweden's second-largest city, Gothenburg.

The Trollhättan Water Tower is a landmark in central Trollhättan in Västergötland, Sweden. It is located next to Drottningtorget ("the Queen's Square") and University College West. The tower was built in 1909 by architect Erik Josephsson at the same year as Olidan Power Station. In 1992 it was converted to a tower of apartments. In total the tower consists of nine one- or two-storey apartments.

The Trollhättan Shia Mosque (Swedish: Trollhättans moské) is a large Shia Muslim mosque in the country located in Trollhättan, Västra Götaland County, Sweden. After Idi Amin ordered in 1972 the expulsion of all Asians from Uganda, many of them were Shia Muslims who settled in Sweden. In 1976 they've established local Islamic centre, and in 1985 the mosque was built. On 14 August 1993, neo-nazis attacked the (original) mosque with molotov cocktails causing extensive damage to the building and its destruction. The present mosque is larger and built in the same place where the original mosque was located.

University West (Swedish: Högskolan Väst) is a university college (högskola) located in Trollhättan, in southwestern Sweden. University West was initially called University College of Trollhättan/Uddevalla (Swedish: Högskolan i Trollhättan/Uddevalla) and had three campuses, in Trollhättan, Uddevalla and Vänersborg. In 2008 all activities were relocated to new facilities in Trollhättan.
