The Battle of Bryn Glas (also known as the Battle of Pilleth) was a battle between the Welsh and English on 22 June 1402, near the towns of Knighton and Presteigne in Powys, Wales. It was part of the Glyndŵr Rising of 1400-1415. It was an important victory for the Welsh under Owain Glyndŵr, as it resulted in the prolongation of the Welsh war of independence and the destabilisation of English politics for several years afterward.

Cascob (Welsh: Casgob) is a small village in Powys. It is located in a valley five miles to the south-west of Knighton. The village is part of Whitton, Powys. The village is situated to the east of Radnor Forest, an area of moorland just within Wales. It also lies to the north-west of the small border town of Kington. In 1086, when the Domesday Book was compiled, Cascob was listed with no recorded population but within the hundred of Leintwardine. Additionally, it was counted under both Herefordshire and Shropshire.

Whitton (Welsh: Llanddewi-yn-Hwytyn) is a village and a community in Radnorshire, Powys, Wales. It is located on the B4356 road 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Knighton. Hamlets in the community include Rhos-y-meirch and Pilleth. The community's population in 2011 was 348. St Mary's church is a grade II* listed building.The community is part of the Llangunllo electoral ward for elections to Powys County Council.

Pilleth is a small village south of Knighton in Powys, Wales in the traditional county of Radnorshire. It is the site of the ancient church and holy well of St. Mary’s which stands on Bryn Glas Hill overlooking the River Lugg, as it makes its way to Presteigne.

Bleddfa Castle (sometimes referred to as Bledeach or Bledvach Castle) was a motte and bailey structure near Llangunllo in modern-day Powys, Wales. It is believed to have been built before 1195 and abandoned by 1304. What remains today is described as a "mutilated oval mound" of 46 by 36 metres (151 ft × 118 ft), containing some traces of masonry. It is surrounded by a rectangular bailey measuring 100 by 60 metres (330 ft × 200 ft), with a hedge on its northern border.

Bleddfa is a village which lies on the road from Knighton to Penybont and is located in the community of Llangunllo, Powys, Wales. It is 5 miles (8 km) from Knighton. Until 1983 Bleddfa was a community itself. Two hillforts dating to around 200 BC guard the village: Clog Hill above the village, and Llysin Hill to the west. St Mary Magdalene's Church, Bleddfa dates from the 13th century. In the 19th century part of the building was used as a schoolroom. It is a Grade I listed building. In 1766, the Swiss philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau, whose ideas were instrumental in underpinning the French Revolution, was offered lodgings in a 16th-century grange house called 'Monaughty' which was near Bleddfa. He was so enamoured by Wales during his stay that he hoped Wales would be his final resting place (though he eventually died in Ermenonville, France).

St Mary Magdalene's Church is an active parish church in the village of Bleddfa, Powys, Wales. Tradition asserts that a clas church was founded on the site by St Brendan the Navigator in the 6th century but there is neither documentary or built evidence to support the claim. The present church dates from the 13th century. The bellcote was built in 1711 and the church restored in the early 20th century and again in the 1970s. St Mary Magdalene's is designated by Cadw as a Grade I listed building.

Llangunllo (sometimes Llangynllo; ) is a village and community in central Powys (formerly in Radnorshire), Wales, located about 5 miles west of Knighton. It is named after St Cynllo. The population of the community at the 2011 census was 369. It is served by Llangynllo railway station.

Kinnerton is a village in Powys (historically in Radnorshire), Wales. Kinnerton first appears in records as Kynardton in 1304, meaning "Cyneheard's farm or settlement".

Beggar's Bush is a hamlet in the community of Pencraig, Powys, Wales, which is 55 miles (88 km) from Cardiff and 137 miles (220 km) from London. A round barrow is situated nearby, known as "Beggar’s Bush Barrow" (grid reference SO 2608 6418). The first recording of the name was in (1698)

Knucklas railway station serves the village of Knucklas, Powys, Wales, 34+3⁄4 miles (55.9 km) south west of Shrewsbury. The station is located on a steep hillside overlooking the village and operates as a request stop. Passengers wishing to board are required to signal to the driver, while those intending to alight must notify the train staff. After departing from the station in the westerly direction, trains pass over the 190 yd (173 m) long Knucklas viaduct. This is one of the major structures on the route, its 13 stone arches carrying the line at a maximum height of 75 feet (23 m) across the Heyope valley and Knucklas village. The route then climbs sharply from east to west for the next 4 miles (6.4 km) on a ruling gradient of 1 in 60, en route to the summit of the line just to the south of Llangynllo Tunnel. All trains serving the station are operated by Transport for Wales.

Bache Hill (Welsh: Bryn Bach) is a subsidiary summit of Rhos Fawr or Great Rhos, in the Radnor Forest in Wales. It is located to the east of Black Mixen. The summit is marked by a trig point built on an ancient burial mound, probably of Bronze Age date, like most of the summit cairns and round barrows in Wales. Some controversy arises from the burial mound; in that 610 metres might be the top of the man-made mound. Some walkers therefore doubt Bache Hill's 2,000-foot status. However, the latest OS Explorer Maps shows a large 610-metre contour round the summit.
