Tatranská Lomnica

Tatranská Lomnica railway station (Slovak: Železničná stanica Tatranská Lomnica) is a break-of-gauge junction station in the High Tatras. It serves the settlement of Tatranská Lomnica, in the Prešov Region, northeastern Slovakia. Opened in 1895, the station is the eastern terminus of the Starý Smokovec—Tatranská Lomnica branch line operated by the metre gauge Tatra Electric Railway (TEŽ). It also forms the junction between that line and the standard gauge Poprad-Tatry–Tatranská Lomnica branch, which is a spur line from the Poprad-Tatry–Plaveč railway, another standard gauge branch line. The station is currently owned by Železnice Slovenskej republiky (ŽSR); train services are operated by Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK).

Stará Lesná or "Old Forest" (German: Alt Walddorf) is a village and municipality in Kežmarok District in the Prešov Region in north-central Slovakia. Stará Lesná is located in an area traditionally known as Spiš and it is situated within the Slovak Tourism Region of the Tatras.

Nová Lesná (German: Neu Walddorf) is a village and municipality in Poprad District in the Prešov Region of northern Slovakia.

Skalnaté pleso (1751m) is a lake located in the High Tatras mountains in the north of Slovakia.The highest wind speed ever recorded in Slovakia was recorded here on 29 November 1965, when a wind with the speed of 78,6 m/s (283 km/h) was recorded.In November 2021, there was a rare occurrence, as Pleso dried out entirely. This was the result of a dry period, as it is filled solely by precipitation, and continued evaporation. The lake has refilled since.

The Skalnaté pleso Observatory (Slovak: Observatórium Skalnaté pleso; obs. code: 056) is an astronomical and meteorological observatory in the Tatra Mountains of Slovakia. It is located at an altitude of 1,786 metres (5,860 ft) on the south-eastern slopes of Lomnický štít near Tatranská Lomnica. The observatory is named after a nearby mountain lake (Skalnaté pleso, literally: "Rocky Tarn").

Vysoké Tatry (lit. 'High Tatras'; Hungarian: Magastátra, pronounced [ˈmɒgɒʃtaːtrɒ]; German: Höhe Tatra, pronounced [ˈhøːə ˈtaːtra]; Polish: Wysokie Tatry, pronounced [vɨˈsɔkʲɛ ˈtatrɨ]; Czech: Vysoké Tatry, pronounced ['vɪsokeː tatrɪ]), formally Mesto Vysoké Tatry (lit. 'The Town of High Tatras') is a town at the feet of the Slovak part of High Tatras in Slovakia including all the major resorts in that region. It was created in 1990, and its official name from 1990 to 1999 was Starý Smokovec, which is the name of one of its major settlements.

Hrebienok is a small ski resort in the Tatra Mountains, in northern Slovakia. It is connected by the Starý Smokovec–Hrebienok funicular to the town of Starý Smokovec, which is in turn part of the Tatra Electric Railway.

Starý Smokovec (Slovak pronunciation: [ˈstari: ˈsmɔkɔvet͡s] (listen); German: Altschmecks; Hungarian: Ótátrafüred; Polish: Stary Smokowiec) is a part of the town of Vysoké Tatry in northern Slovakia in the Tatras. Starý Smokovec is a popular resort for skiing and hiking. It also forms the junction of the Tatra Electric Railway train line, connecting Poprad, Tatranská Lomnica and Štrbské Pleso. Amongst the more important buildings in the district are the sanatorium and the Grand Hotel (established in 1904). It is connected by the Starý Smokovec–Hrebienok funicular to the small ski resort of Hrebienok at 1285 m.

Belianska Cave (Slovak: Belianska jaskyňa, pronounced [ˈbelɪɐnska ˈjaskiɲa]) is a stalactite cave in the Slovak part of the Tatra mountains, the largest and the only one open to the public in the Tatras. It is located above the settlement of Tatranská Kotlina, which is a part of the town of Vysoké Tatry. The cave was discovered in the 18th century, although it is presumed that it was used by pre-historic people. The cave was opened in 1884 and electrically lit in 1896. Entrance to the cave is located at an altitude of 890 metres. The cave is 3,641 m long, with two circuits available to the visitors, with the longer one having the length of 1,752 m.

Veľký Slavkov (Hungarian: Nagyszalók, German: Groß Schlagendorf, Polish: Wielki Sławków) is a village and municipality in Poprad District in the Prešov Region of northern Slovakia.

It forms the junction between the TEŽ's Poprad-Tatry–Štrbské Pleso main line and its only other line, the Starý Smokovec–Tatranská Lomnica branch. The station is currently owned by Železnice Slovenskej republiky (ŽSR); train services are operated by Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK).
