The Guido mine (Polish: Zabytkowa Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego) is a historic deep coal mine and museum in Zabrze, Silesia, Poland. The museum is an Anchor point on the European Route of Industrial Heritage. This is an object of cultural heritage inscribed in the registry of the Silesian Voivodeship (A/1342/87 z 1987-02-26) and a cultural monument in Poland (ID 641754).

Zabrze (Polish pronunciation: [ˈzabʐɛ] ; German: 1915–1945: Hindenburg O.S., full form: Hindenburg in Oberschlesien, Silesian: Zŏbrze, Yiddish: זאַבזשע, romanized: Zabzhe) is an industrial city in Silesia in southern Poland, near Katowice. The west district of the Silesian Metropolis, a metropolis with a population of around 2 million. It is in the Silesian Highlands, on the Bytomka River, a tributary of the Oder. Zabrze is located in the Silesian Voivodeship, which was reformulated in 1999. Before 1999 it was in Katowice Voivodeship. It is one of the cities composing the 2.7 million inhabitant conurbation referred to as the Katowice urban area, itself a major centre in the greater Silesian metropolitan area which is populated by just over five million people. The population of Zabrze as of December 2021 was 168,946, down from June 2009 when the population was 188,122. Zabrze is bordered by three other cities of the metropolitan area: Gliwice, Bytom and Ruda Śląska.

St. Joseph's Church (Polish: Kościół Świętego Józefa, German: Josefskirche) in Zabrze is a Roman Catholic church built from 1930-1931 in the Expressionist style. It is one of several Brick Expressionist buildings designed by Dominikus Böhm (1880–1955). It is located on the southwest side of central Zabrze at Ulica Franklina Roosevelta 104.

Górnik Zabrze Spółka Akcyjna, commonly referred to as Górnik Zabrze S.A. or simply Górnik Zabrze (Polish pronunciation: [ˈɡurɲiɡ ˈzabʐɛ]), is a Polish football club from Zabrze. Górnik is one of the most successful Polish football clubs in history, winning the second-most Polish Championship titles together with Ruch Chorzów. The club was a dominant force in the 1960s and 1980s. Górnik holds the record for winning the most consecutive Polish Championship titles (5) and Polish Cup titles (5). In addition, the club was 1969–70 Cup Winners' Cup runners-up. The club plays in a white or dark blue-red kit, and is based at the Arena Zabrze. Their main local rival is Ruch Chorzów.

The Arena Zabrze, also known as the Stadion im. Ernesta Pohla (Ernest Pohl Stadium), is a football stadium in Zabrze, Poland. It is the home ground of Górnik Zabrze. Originally constructed in 1934, it is currently in the process of complete rebuilding.

The Sośnica-Makoszowy coal mine is a large mine in the south of Poland near Gliwice and Zabrze, Silesian Voivodeship, 267 km south-west of the capital, Warsaw. Sośnica-Makoszowy represents one of the largest coal reserves in Poland, having estimated reserves of 180 million tonnes of coal. The annual coal production is around 4.27 million tonnes.

Makoszowy (Zabrze-Makoszowy, German: Makoschau) is a district of Zabrze, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland, located in the southern part of the city. Makoszowy is located on the Kłodnica river with its two tributaries, Bielczanka and Czarnawka, surrounded with forests and ponds. Anglers like to fish here or just come and have a rest. There is a coal mine. There are about 2,000 people. Easy communication with adjacent towns. Makoszowy borders the districts of Kończyce and Guido (in the north), the cities of Gliwice (in the west) and Ruda Śląska (in the east), and the villages of Przyszowice and Paniówki (in the south).

Bielszowice (German: Bielschowitz) is a district in the west of Ruda Śląska, Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland. In 2006 it had an area of 10.6 km2 and was inhabited by 9,505 people. On January 12, 2006 a part of it was split off to form a new district, Czarny Las.

The Przyszowice massacre (Polish: Zbrodnia przyszowicka or tragedia przyszowicka) was a massacre perpetrated by the Red Army against civilian inhabitants of the Polish village of Przyszowice in Upper Silesia during the period January 26 to January 28, 1945. Sources vary on the number of victims, which range from 54 to over 60 – and possibly as many as 69. The Institute of National Remembrance, a Polish organization that carried out research into these events, has declared that the Przyszowice massacre was a crime against humanity.

Przyszowice [pʂɨʂɔˈvit͡sɛ] (German Preiswitz) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Gierałtowice, within Gliwice County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. The village has a population of 3,199. It lies approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) north-east of Gierałtowice, 7 km (4 mi) south-east of Gliwice, and 18 km (11 mi) west of the regional capital Katowice. Among the most notable landmarks of the area is an eclectic palace of the von Raczek family built between 1890 and 1895, the St. John of Nepomuk's Church built in 1938 and a wooden granary of 1829. During the final stages of World War II the village was the site of the Przyszowice massacre in which roughly 70 Polish civilians were murdered by the Red Army.
