Pattaravakkam

Pattaravakkam railway station is one of the railway stations of the Chennai Central–Arakkonam section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. Located about 14 km from Chennai Central railway station, the station serves the neighbourhoods of Pattaravakkam and Ambattur Industrial Estate and other smaller suburbs such as Karukku, Kallikuppam, and Menambedu. It has an elevation of 16.01 m above sea level. It is a suburb of Chennai City.

Ambattur is located in northwestern part of Chennai City, in Ambattur taluk of the Chennai District, surrounded by Avadi, Anna Nagar, Padi, Mogappair, Kallikuppam, Surapet, Korattur, Ayappakkam, Athipet and Thiruverkadu. It covers an area of 45 km2 (17 sq mi). The neighbourhood is served by Ambattur railway station of the Chennai Suburban Railway. Ambattur has its origins in a village of the same name which can be located at present as areas opposite to Ambattur telephone exchange. Ambattur was a village with large extents of agricultural farm lands irrigated by the once-sprawling Ambattur Lake. In 2011, the neighbourhood had a population 466,205.

Ambattur taluk is a taluk of Chennai district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Its headquarters are the neighbourhood of Ambattur. This taluk was created from a division of Ponneri taluk, Tiruvallur district. On 4 January 2018, Chennai district was expanded by annexing Ambattur taluk. The RTO code for Ambattur taluk is TN-13. Ambattur is a state assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu, India that was newly formed after constituency delimitation. Located in Chennai district, it consists of a portion of Ambattur taluk and part of Chennai corporation. It is included in the Sriperumbudur parliamentary constituency.

Sir Ramaswami Mudaliar Higher Secondary School is a government-aided higher secondary school in Ambattur. This school was established to preserve the memory of Sir Arcot Ramaswami Mudaliar, who was closely associated with the birth and growth of Tube Investments of India as its founder, chairman and later as the first president of the company. Hence the first school of the AMM Charities Trust started in 1958 was named after him. The initial infrastructure of the school was created at a cost of Rs. 60 lakhs on a 13-acre plot in Ambattur. The school was later upgraded into a co-educational higher secondary school in 1978. Today the school has a strength of about 2,044 pupils including 87 qualified teachers and other staff members. Korattur Aeri, or Korattur Lake, also known as Vembu Pasumai Thittu, is a lake spread over 990 acres in Korattur, Chennai, India. It is located to the north of the Chennai–Arakkonam railway line. It is one of the largest lakes in the western part of the city. Korattur Aeri is one of a chain of three water bodies, including the Ambattur Aeri and the Madhavaram Aeri, where surplus water from one is transported to another. The water from the lake had been supplied to Chennai residents for a brief period when there was a shortage in the late 1970s. However, over the years, the lake has been contaminated with sewage and industrial effluents from surrounding areas such as Pattaravakkam, Athipet and Ambattur.

Bhaktavatsalam Vidyashram is a one of the best school in Chennai, Korattur, India. It was founded in 1989 and mainly follows the CBSE standard of education, though a separate Tamil Nadu state board certifies high schools. It is named after the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. Bhaktavatsalam. The school has more than 3000 students. The Bhaktavatsalam memorial trust is chaired by Mrs. K. Korattur railway station is a railway station on the Chennai Central–Arakkonam section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. Located 12 km from Chennai Central railway station, the station serves the neighbourhoods of Korattur, Kolathur and Padi. It has an elevation of 12.85 m above sea level. It is situated in the western part of Chennai.

Oragadam has developed from being a rural area along the Redhills high road to become one of the important residential localities of Ambattur. It was a part of the erstwhile Ambattur Municipality till October 2011. Now as per a G.O., Oragadam has become a part of the zone 7, Ambattur, of the Chennai Corporation. Though Oragadam has escalated itself from being a less-known suburb to a nominally decent suburban centre it still has not grown on par with the other localities in Ambattur itself. For instance it still lacks proper roads and connectivity albeit the Corporation of Chennai has been carrying on various infrastructure projects in full-swing which are expected to reach completion soon.
