Colonia Roma, also called La Roma or simply, Roma, is a district located in the Cuauhtémoc borough of Mexico City just west of the city's historic center, and in fact is no longer a single colonia (neighbourhood) but now two officially defined ones, Roma Norte and Roma Sur, divided by Coahuila street.The colonia was planned as an upper-class Porfirian neighborhood in the early twentieth century. By the 1940s, it had become a middle-class neighborhood in slow decline, with the downswing being worsened by the 1985 Mexico City earthquake. Since the 2000s, the area has seen increasing gentrification.Currently Roma and neighbouring Condesa are known for being the epicenter of hipster subculture in the city, and rivals Polanco as the center of the city's culinary scene. Besides residential buildings, the neighborhood streets are lined with restaurants, bars, clubs, shops, cultural centers, churches and galleries. Many are housed in former Art Nouveau and Neo-Classical buildings dating from the Porfiriato period at the beginning of the 20th century. Roma was designated as a "Barrio Mágico" ("magical neighborhood") by the city in 2011.

Expendio de Maíz, alternatively known as Expendio de Maíz Sin Nombre, is a Mexican restaurant in Mexico City. It was founded in 2018 by the chef Jesús Salas Tornés in Colonia Roma, in the Cuauhtémoc borough. The restaurant offers a casual, communal dining experience centered on Mexican street food and maize-based dishes, including tortillas, tacos, sopes, gorditas and corn beer. With no set menu, no reservations, no servers, and cash-only payments, guests are seated at one of four shared tables. In the open kitchen, cooks prepare surprise dishes tailored to each diner's preferences and dietary needs, with cooks checking in to offer more food until patrons are satisfied. In 2024, Expendio de Maíz received a Bib Gourmand distinction in the first Michelin Guide covering restaurants in Mexico. The following year, it was awarded its first Michelin star.

Jardín Edith Sánchez Ramírez is a pocket park in Colonia Roma, Mexico City. It is located in the triangle formed between calles Yucatán, San Luis Potosí and Tonalá. It is named after Edith Sánchez Ramírez, who was an activist who helped refugees of the 1985 Mexico City earthquake obtain housing. In 2012, the park was in disrepair but it was renovated in 2014, financed by American Eagle Outfitters.

The Casa Museo Leonora Carrington, formerly Casa Estudio or Casona Leonora Carrington, was the home of British surrealist painter and writer Leonora Carrington. It is found at Chihuahua Street 194, colonia Roma Norte, in the Cuauhtémoc borough of Mexico City. The museum operates digitally due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Mexico. The house was restored by Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) in 2018 and it was expected to open physically in 2022.

The Universidad de la Comunicación (University of Communication) is a private university founded on December 13, 1976, that teaches undergraduate courses related to communication and culture such as: Publicity, Communication and Management of Culture and Art, Social Communication, Visual Communication, Organizational Communication, Marketing and Film. It has the validation of the Mexican Secretariat of Public Education and the recognition of the International Advertising Association.

Garros Galería or Garros Gallery is located in Colonia Roma in Mexico City. It is the only art gallery and museum dedicated to cats in Mexico.

Plaza Luis Cabrera is a public space in Colonia Roma, Mexico City. It is a cafe-ringed plaza with trees and a fountain which memorializes Luis Cabrera Lobato. Plaza Luis Cabrera is located on Orizaba Street at Zacatecas Street. To its north is Plaza Río de Janeiro. In the 1950s the plaza was frequented by some American Beat Generation writers such as Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg and others. It hosted anti-Trump No Kings protests in 2025.

Insurgentes 300, also known by its official original name, Condominio Insurgentes, or also as Edificio de la Canada, is a 19-floor commercial and residential building, now abandoned, at Avenida de los Insurgentes 300, Colonia Roma, Mexico City. it is a work of noted Mexican architect Mario Pani.

The Casa Lamm Cultural Center is the best known landmark in Colonia Roma. It was a house built in the early 20th century when Colonia Roma was a new neighborhood for the wealthy leaving the historic center of Mexico City. In the 1990s, the house was restored to open as a cultural center in 1994, with the aim of making the area a center for the visual arts. Today, it hosts numerous exhibits as well as offering classes, even degrees, in art and literature.

Salón de la Plástica Mexicana (Hall of Mexican Fine Art; SPM) is an institution dedicated to the promotion of Mexican contemporary art. It was established in 1949 to expand the Mexican art market. Its first location was in historic center of the city but today it mostly operates out of a building in Colonia Roma. The institution is run by a membership of almost four hundred recognized artists and holds multiple exhibitions each year. Although it operates autonomously, it is part of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura.
