Flem Galloway House is a historic home and national historic district located near Calvert, Transylvania County, North Carolina. It was built in 1878, and is a two-story, heavy timber frame I-house, with a two-story rear ell. It is sheathed in weatherboard and has a gable roof. The front facade features a two-tiered, center-bay, cross-gabled porch. Also on the property is a contributing 1+1⁄2-story smokehouse.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

The Art Loeb Trail is a 30.1-mile (48.4 km) hiking trail located in Pisgah National Forest in Western North Carolina. The northern terminus is at the Daniel Boone Boy Scout Camp in Haywood County, while the trail's southern terminus is located near the Davidson River Campground, near Brevard, in Transylvania County. Along the way, the trail traverses several significant peaks, including Black Balsam Knob (6,214 ft), Tennent Mountain (6040 ft) and Pilot Mountain (5095 ft). The trail also passes the base of Cold Mountain, made famous by the novel and film. Cold mountain is a must for any art loeb thru hiker/runner and only adds around 700ft in elevation. National Geographic Adventure listed the trail as one of the thirty best North American hikes. They praised the views offered on the high Appalachian Balds, the challenging climbs, and the trail's diverse landscape.

Lake Toxaway Methodist Church, also known as Methodist Episcopal Church South, is a historic Methodist church on Cold Mountain Road on the north side, 0.1 miles norwest of the junction with NC 281 in Lake Toxaway, Transylvania County, North Carolina. It was built in 1912, and is a small one-story, Late Gothic Revival style frame structure. It has a six-sided louvered bell tower and a tin roof. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

Catheys Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of North Carolina, and is a tributary of the Second Broad River. It is located in central Rutherford County and originates in an area north of Rutherfordton near the county line with McDowell county. The stream flows southeast until it reaches and joins with the Second Broad River.

Lake Toxaway is an unincorporated community in western Transylvania County, North Carolina on U.S. Route 64, and North Carolina Highway 281.

Lake Toxaway is the largest privately held lake in North Carolina. The lake, developed by the Lake Toxaway Company, is man-made and covers 640 acres (2.6 km2) 60 feet (18 m), and the shoreline is 14 miles (23 km). Water sources for the lake include multiple free-flowing mountain streams with the Toxaway River being the main source. The lake flows out onto Toxaway Falls and then continues down the Toxaway River. The main road through the Lake Toxaway area is U.S. Highway 64, a typical winding mountain road with tight turns. Lake Toxaway history encompasses two distinct time periods. The first era which began in 1890 ended with the collapse of the earthen dam in 1916. In 1960 the second era began when the Lake Toxaway Company purchased the land and rebuilt the lake.
