West Bendigo is a suburb of the regional city of Bendigo in north central Victoria, Australia, 4.8 kilometres (3.0 mi) west of the Bendigo city centre. At the 2016 census, West Bendigo had a population of 375.

Bendigo Stadium (also known as Red Energy Arena under naming rights) is an Australian sports and entertainment centre in Bendigo, Victoria. The stadium is home to the Bendigo Braves (NBL1) and Bendigo Spirit (WNBL). It hosted basketball matches during the 2006 Commonwealth Games and will host netball during the 2026 Commonwealth Games. The stadium's facilities include ten indoor sports courts, major exhibition and function areas, a licensed clubroom and associated administration facilities. The stadium has the flexibility to be used for major sporting, cultural and entertainment events and has held such events as The Young Divas, Vanessa Amorosi, international basketball, netball, snooker and volleyball. The largest recorded attendance at the venue was on 3 March 2013 when Bendigo Spirit defeated the Townsville Fire 71–57 in the 2012-13 WNBL Grand Final. In May 2018, the venue was re-opened after a $23 million redevelopment was completed which upgraded the facilities and increased the venue's capacity.The stadium hosted its first Suncorp Super Netball match on 25 May 2019, when Collingwood Magpies played West Coast Fever in a 2019 Suncorp Super Netball Round 5 match. It was part of a double header that also featured Tasmanian Magpies play Western Sting in an Australian Netball League fixture.The facility co-hosted the 2003 FIBA Oceania Championship where the Australian national basketball team won the gold medal. Bendigo also hosted Group 3 of The International Volleyball Women's Grand Prix in June 2016 over 3 days of which Australia competed against Cuba Columbia and Croatia The Arena has also hosted Australian National Basketball League Games for Melbourne United during the 2020–21 NBL season, Including Throwdown V against the South East Melbourne Phoenix. It also hosted a Round 11 Match where the New Zealand Breakers played Melbourne United in a Breakers Home Game. On 21 March 2022, it was announced that Bendigo Stadium would also host 2 further New Zealand Breakers Home Games during the 2021-22 NBL season, due to COVID-19 Protocols restricting the Breakers from returning to New Zealand. They played the South East Melbourne Phoenix on 10 April 2022 and the Sydney Kings on 12 April 2022, with the Breakers losing both Games.

The Borough of Eaglehawk was a local government area which covered the northwestern suburbs of the regional city of Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. The borough covered an area of 14.54 square kilometres (5.6 sq mi), and existed from 1862 until 1994.

Long Gully is a suburb of the regional city of Bendigo in Victoria, Australia, 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) north-west of the Bendigo central business district. At the 2016 census, Long Gully had a population of 3,383.Long Gully is a working-class suburb of Bendigo, with many older style fibro houses, punctuated by well-established light industry. The suburb is the location of the Bendigo RSL club, in Havilah Road. Long Gully was heavily affected by the Black Saturday bushfires, causing one death.It is the birthplace of Dick Richards, GC (14 November 1894 – 8 May 1986). Richards was an Australian science teacher who joined Sir Ernest Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition in December 1914 as a physicist with the Ross Sea Party. He was 22 years old. He outlived all other members of the expedition and became the last survivor of the so-called "Heroic Age" of Antarctic exploration, dying at the age of 91 in 1986. His life-saving feats in the Antarctic are detailed in the book Shackleton's Heroes.

Ironbark is a suburb of the regional city of Bendigo in north central Victoria, Australia, 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) north west of the Bendigo city centre. Ironbark was named after the Ironbark Valley. Ironbark was part of Long Gully until 1999 when it became a separate suburb. At the 2021 census, Ironbark had a population of 1,163.

The City of Bendigo was a local government area covering the central area and inner western suburbs of the regional city of Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. The city covered an area of 32.53 square kilometres (12.6 sq mi), and existed from 1855 to 1994.

Sandhurst (initially Sandhurst Boroughs) was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria from 1856 to 1904. It was based on the towns of Sandhurst (now Bendigo) and Lockwood. The district was defined as: SANDHURST — Commencing at a point on the Bendigo Creek 40 chains south of the junction of Ash-street and High-street; thence east one mile and a half; thence north four miles; thence west two and a half miles, crossing the Bendigo Creek, thence south four miles, thence east to the point of commencement. LOCKWOOD — Commencing at the south-western angle of suburban allotment 23, section 1; bounded on the east by a line northward from that point to the southeastern angle of portion 44, section 4; on the north by a line bearing west to the south-western angle of allotment No. 1, section 4, on the west by a line bearing south to a point due west from the commencing point; and on the south by a line east to the south-west angle of suburban allotment No. 23, section 1, being the commencing point. aforesaid. From 1904, Sandhurst was split into two districts, Bendigo West and Bendigo East.The district of Sandhurst Boroughs was one of the initial districts of the first Victorian Legislative Assembly, 1856.

The electoral district of Bendigo was an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. Centred on the city of Bendigo, the district was formed when the electorates of Bendigo East and Bendigo West were merged into a single district in 1927. Bendigo was abolished in 1985 when it was once again split into separate East and West districts.

The council area encompasses roughly 3,000 square kilometres, the city is surrounded by smaller towns and cities like Castlemaine and Heathcote. The traditional owners of the area are the Dja Dja Wurrung (Djaara) people. The discovery of gold on Bendigo Creek in 1851 transformed the area from a sheep station into one of colonial Australia's largest boomtowns. News of the finds intensified the Victorian gold rush, bringing an influx of migrants from around the world, particularly Europe and China. Bendigo became eastern Australia's largest 19th-century gold-mining economy and the wealth generated during this period is reflected today in the city's Victorian architectural heritage. From 1853 until 1891, Bendigo was officially named Sandhurst. Bendigo's boom period lasted until the early 20th century and after a temporary decline in population and employment, renewed growth occurred from the 1930s as the city consolidated as a manufacturing and regional service centre. Although gold mining continues, recent population growth has been most heavily concentrated in suburban areas. With the completion of the Calder Freeway linking Melbourne and Bendigo in 2009, and the region's proximity to Melbourne, Bendigo has become one of the fastest-growing regional centres in Victoria.

The Loddon Mallee is an economic rural region located in the north-western part of Victoria, Australia. Occupying more than a quarter of the state, it stretches from Greater Melbourne to the northernmost point of Victoria, sharing a border with South Australia and New South Wales, and has one of the most consistently warm climates in Victoria. It has two major regional cities Bendigo and Mildura and also contains the major settlements of Castlemaine, Echuca, Gisborne, Kerang, Kyneton, Maryborough, Swan Hill, Wedderburn and Wycheproof. Comprising an area in excess of 58,000 square kilometres (22,000 sq mi) this is the largest region in Victoria hosting a population of over 348,000 people. The Loddon Malle region includes the Shire of Buloke, Shire of Campaspe, Shire of Central Goldfields, Shire of Gannawarra, City of Greater Bendigo, Shire of Loddon, Shire of Macedon Ranges, Rural City of Mildura, Shire of Mount Alexander and Rural City of Swan Hill local government areas. The Loddon Mallee region is located along two major transport corridors, the Calder Highway corridor linking Melbourne to Bendigo and Mildura and the interstate Sturt Highway corridor linking Sydney to Mildura and Adelaide. The region comprises two distinct and inter-connected sub-regions or districts: Loddon Campaspe and Mallee.

Bendigo Province was an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Council . It was created in the redistribution of provinces in June 1904, North Central Province being abolished. Bendigo Province itself was abolished in 1988.

The Electoral district of Sandhurst was an electoral district of the old unicameral Victorian Legislative Council of 1851 to 1856. Victoria being a colony in Australia at the time. Sandhurst was added to the Council in 1855, along with four other districts.The Electoral district of Sandhurst's area included the parishes of Sandhurst, Lockwood, Strathfieldsaye, Sedgwick, Mandurang, Huntley, Nerring, Marong, Ravenswood, and Heathcote.Sandhurst was abolished along with all the other districts in the Legislative Council in 1856 as part of the new Parliament of Victoria. New Provinces were created that made up the Legislative Council, which was the upper house from 1856.
