The River Dibb, also known as Barben Beck, is a small river located in North Yorkshire, England. It is a tributary of the River Wharfe. Grimwith Reservoir is at the head of the River Dibb at a point some 2.5 miles (4 km) from Appletreewick. The river flows for 5.2 kilometres (3.2 mi), and must maintain a flow of 273,000 cubic metres (9,600,000 cu ft) of water a day into the River Wharfe system.

Burnsall is a village and civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the River Wharfe in Wharfedale, and is in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The village is approximately 2 miles (3 km) south-east from Grassington. It has a parish church, a chapel, two hotels with restaurants, a public house, and a primary school. The school, Grade II listed, is in the original 1602 grammar school building, a legacy of William Craven of nearby Appletreewick. There is a five-arched bridge over which the Dalesway passes. A path along the river from Burnsall to Hebden, 1 mile (2 km) to the north-west, dates to Viking times.The historic parish of Burnsall occupied a large part of upper Wharfedale. It included the townships of Appletreewick, Bordley, Conistone with Kilnsey, Cracoe, Hartlington, Hetton, Rylstone and Thorpe, all of which became separate civil parishes in 1866. The parish was in Staincliffe Wapentake and in the West Riding of Yorkshire until 1974, when it was transferred to North Yorkshire. The 2001 Census gave Burnsall parish a population of 112, decreasing to 110 at the 2011 census.The ecclesiastical parish of Burnsall is in the Diocese of Leeds. The parish church of St Wilfrid's, a Grade I listed building, is almost entirely Perpendicular. It contains an 11th-century font carved with bird and beasts, twelve Anglo-Saxon sculpture fragments and a 14th-century alabaster panel depicting the Adoration of the Magi. The church-yard is entered from the main road by a lychgate. Burnsall is a centre for walking, trout fishing, picnics, and weddings. An annual feast day games in August includes amateur competitions, tug of war and fell races. The village cricket pitch is below Burnsall Fell and is half enclosed by the river.

Appletreewick is a village and civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England, 6.5 miles (10.5 km) north-east of Skipton, 7 miles (11 km) from Skipton railway station and 16 miles (25.7 km) from Leeds Bradford International Airport. Appletreewick is in Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales, a popular place for visitors, especially in the summer months, on the banks of the River Wharfe.The civil parish includes the hamlet of Skyreholme and the western end of the village of Greenhow. The parish also includes Parcevall Hall, Stump Cross Caverns, the eastern part of Grimwith Reservoir and extensive areas of moorland north and east of the village. Barden Fell is a grouse moor belonging to the Bolton Abbey Estate, and Simon's Seat is a prominent rock outcrop to the north of Barden Fell. The civil parish had a population of 218 at the 2011 Census.

Thorpe is a village and civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. It is 2 miles (3 km) south of Grassington and 6 miles (10 km) north of Skipton. Barden is a civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. It consists of the hamlet of Drebley and a few scattered houses in Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales. The parish also includes two areas of moorland, Barden Fell to the east of the River Wharfe and Barden Moor to the west of the river. Both moorlands are access land, and are popular with walkers. Barden Fell rises to the prominent peak of Simon's Seat, and Barden Moor includes two scenic 19th century reservoirs. Much of the parish is on the Bolton Abbey estate.The parish is sparsely populated. At the 2011 Census the population of the civil parish was less than 100, and the census statistics for the parish were therefore merged with those of the adjoining civil parish of Hazlewood with Storiths. In 2015, North Yorkshire County Council estimated that the population of the parish was 90.Barden is derived from the Old English berdene, and means the valley where the barley is grown.

Barden Tower is a ruined building in the Parish of Barden, in Wharfedale, North Yorkshire, England. The tower was used as a hunting lodge in the 15th and 16th centuries, and despite a renovation in the 1650s, it fell into disrepair in the 18th century. The tower is now part of the Bolton Estate and is listed as a medieval fortified tower. Along with other buildings on the Bolton Estate, it is a focal point and many people visit the tower. It is also a way marker on the 100-mile (160 km) Lady Anne's Way long distance path.

Skyreholme is a hamlet in Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire, England. It lies 1-mile (1.6 km) east of Appletreewick, in the small side valleys formed by Skyreholme Beck and Blands Beck, which meet in the hamlet to form Fir Beck, a short tributary of the River Wharfe. Parcevall Hall is at the north end of the hamlet, and Skyreholme Beck flows through the limestone gorge of Trollers Gill just to the north. The toponym, first recorded in 1540, is of Old Norse origin, from skírr "bright" and holmr "water-meadow", and so means "bright water-meadow". Skyreholme was historically in the township of Appletreewick in the large ancient parish of Burnsall in the West Riding of Yorkshire. In the early 19th century the hamlet had a substantial population (234 in the 1841 census). The main industry was a cotton and calico mill. To serve this population a chapel of ease was built in 1837. The chapel closed in 1897, but from 1867 the building was also used as a school, which continued until 1967. The village is home to Parcevall Hall, a grade II listed building which has 24 acres (9.7 ha) of gardens with plants from around the world.

Trollers Gill is a limestone gill or gorge in North Yorkshire, England, close to the village of Skyreholme and 4.7 miles (7.5 km) south-east of Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales (grid reference SE068619). The gorge, which is 0.5 miles (0.8 km) in length, is also known as Trollerdale.

Parcevall Hall -- also known as Parceval Hall -- and its gardens are located at Skyreholme near Appletreewick village, Wharfedale, North Yorkshire, England. It features a Grade II* listed manor house and landscaped gardens. Currently owned by Walsingham College and leased by the Diocese of Bradford, it is used as a retreat house and conference centre.The gardens comprise 24 acres (97,000 m2) of displays, featuring trees and shrubs and herbaceous borders. They are the largest and the only Royal Horticultural Society and English Heritage registered gardens open to the public in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Created from 1927 onwards they began falling into decline after 1960 following the death of Sir William Milner, 8th Baronet of Nun Appleton. In the mid 1980s, the gardens began to be restored; a process which spanned 25 years. The gardens are open to the public from April to October.

Thorpe Fell Top is the top of the hill of Burnsall and Thorpe Fell in the Yorkshire Dales, itself forming part of a larger wedge of ground between Wharfedale and Skipton. The summit of this grouse moor is 506 metres above sea level and topped with a trig point. It was listed in Alan Dawson's "The Relative Hills of Britain" as a Marilyn. However, a number of recent observations and measurements suggest that the base of the war memorial at the top of Cracoe Fell (SD993588) some 1.7 km (1.1 mi) to the south-west, is probably higher, perhaps as high as 510 metres. Thorpe Fell Top is probably most easily visited from either Thorpe or Burnsall. The track and path marked on Ordnance Survey maps to the north and west of the summit continues all the way to the top of Cracoe Fell. The latter can also be reached along Fell Lane from the village of Cracoe.

Upper Barden Reservoir is an upland fresh water reservoir, one of two reservoirs that collect water from Barden Moor, and dam Barden Beck, a tributary of the River Wharfe in the Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire, England. The reservoir was opened in 1882 and also supplies fresh water to the Nidd Aqueduct, which transports it to Bradford. Upper Barden Reservoir was the second of the reservoirs to be built, (Lower Barden opened in 1860). The embankment of the dam head is 125 feet (38 m) high, which at the time of its construction, was the highest in England, and notable for being one of the first to use concrete.
