San Marcos is a municipality in El Salvador. It is located in a small valley, 5 miles (8 km) southeast of downtown San Salvador. It has a population of 63,209. San Marcos is one of the 14 municipalities which make up the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador, also known as Greater San Salvador.

Panchimal is a town in the San Salvador department of El Salvador. Panchimalco ("The Place of Flags and Shields," from the Nahuatl, "Pantli," meaning banner or flag; "Chimalli," meaning shield or herald, and "co," place) Its 35,000 inhabitants, sometimes called "Panchos," are descendants of Pipil Indians fleeing the Spanish takeover of San Salvador during the 16th century, into areas originally inhabited by Mayan and Nahuatl peoples.

San Jose Villanueva is a small municipality in the Department of La Libertad, El Salvador. San Jose Villanueva has a population of 14,000 inhabitants (according to the PNC) and 9,896 inhabitants (according to SIBASI 2001). It is located in the south of the Department, bordered by the cities of Nuevo Cuscatlán to the north, Huizucar to the east, the port of La Libertad to the south and Zaragoza to the west. The town contains a health clinic, six schools, an institute, a Catholic church, and seven Protestant churches. In the last several years, the municipality has seen an influx of the upper middle class, including the introduction of a gated housing development. Principal crops include grains, coffee, and grasses. There are businesses in cattle, pigs, and poultry. Among the successful industries are the Beneficiary of Coffee and the Dairy Elaboration. There are paved access roads. Of note is a local archaeological site, the Piedra Pintada (Painted Stone), a rock inscribed with three meters of ancient hieroglyphics.

Zaragoza is a municipality in the La Libertad department of El Salvador. Zaragoza is a small city between the cities of La Libertad and Santa Tecla. It is the third largest city in the department of La Libertad. The city has developed an important growth during the last 20 years, due to the suburban expansion of San Salvador.

Nuevo Cuscatlán is a municipality in the La Libertad department of El Salvador. It is situated between the cities of Antiguo Cuscatlán and Santa Tecla, just a couple of minutes away from El Salvador's capital, San Salvador. It is located southeast of Santa Tecla. During the 2012 municipal elections, Nayib Bukele, a young businessman, from the FMLN (Frente Farabundo Martí para la Liberación Nacional) party was elected as mayor. In 2012, Nuevo Cuscatlán had a population of 7,895.

Cuzcatlan (Nawat: Kuskatan) (Nahuatl: Cuzcatlan) was a pre-Columbian Nahua state confederation of the Mesoamerican postclassical period that extended from the Paz river to the Lempa river (covering most of western El Salvador); this was the nation that Spanish chroniclers came to call the Pipils or Cuzcatlecos. No codices survive that shed light on this confederation except the Annals of the Cakchiquels, although Spanish chroniclers such as Domingo Juarros, Palaces, Lozano, and others claim that some codices did exist but have since disappeared. Their Nawat language, art and temples revealed that they had significant Mayan and Toltec influence from the ties they had with the Itza in Yucatan. It is believed that the first settlers to arrive came from the Toltec people in central Mexico, mostly Puebla during the Chichimeca-Toltec civil wars in the 10th century AD. The people of Cuzcatan came to be called Pipiles in the historical chronicles, a term that today is usually translated as "boys" or less likely as "young nobles." This was due to the perception of the Central Nahuatl-speaking Tlaxcala and Mexica allies of the Spanish that the Nahuas of Cuzcatan were speaking a corrupted version of their language in those regions. An alternative theory is that it meant "nobles," from the Nahuas social class "Pipiltin" and the Nawat Pipil origin story that they are descendants of Nanahuatzin.

Edificio Avante is a 64 m (210 ft) skyscraper located in the Santa Elena area of San Salvador, El Salvador. Construction started in early 2009 and was due to finish in mid-2010. The US$30 million building has a total area of 44,000 m2 (470,000 sq ft) and space for shops on the ground floor, offices on the nine floors above and six levels of underground parking – the deepest parking in El Salvador.The building was financed by a Guatemalan investor, using a financing scheme called "tenant in hand", because they sell the space to investors, then Quality Real Estate is responsible for seeking a tenant for that space, so the constructors of Avante made sure all of their investors a safe return. Salvadorans who have been investors in Guatemala already know the model of Avante.This building helps the economic growth of the country; due to the low quantity of office buildings in the country the building helps the economic boom of the city.In the building you will find the Newtown Cafe, a cafeteria that offers urban fusion cuisine.

Antiguo Cuscatlán (colloquially known as Antiguo) is a municipality in the La Libertad department of El Salvador, and its eastern tip lays in San Salvador Department part of the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador, southwest of San Salvador and southeast of Santa Tecla. The population was 48,027 at the 2010 census. Antiguo Cuscatlán can be translated as Old Jeweled City: Antiguo means ancient or old in Spanish, and Cuscatlán means jeweled city in Nahuat. The city used to be the capital of the Pipil or Cuzcatecs, before the Spanish conquest of the New World. The historic downtown sits on the foothills of La Cordillera del Bálsamo, and the city extends towards the Cordillera del Bálsamo on the south and on the foothills of the San Salvador Volcano on the north. The estimated per capita income for the city was $22,783 in 2013, which is 5.9 times higher than the national per capita (nominal).

Santa Tecla (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈsanta ˈtekla]) is a municipality in the La Libertad department of El Salvador. It is the capital of the department of La Libertad.The city was named after Saint Thecla who was a saint of the early Christian Church, and a reported follower of Paul of Tarsus in the 1st century AD. She is not mentioned in the New Testament, but the earliest record of her comes from the apocryphal Acts of Paul and Thecla, probably composed in the early 2nd century. Santa Tecla is situated at the southern foot of the San Salvador Volcano, and very close to San Salvador (14.5 km, the capital city. The municipality of Antiguo Cuscatlán sits on its eastern border.
